Not tried a piezo\mag combo through my rig but certainly anything with a piezo pickup comes out quiet and 'weedy'. I fixed the problem by buying a little Fishman external preamp and using that.
The Washburn has an on-board buffer so that shouldn't be the case... I have a BBE Acoustimax preamp I could put it through but it shouldn't require it!

Anyone had issues with this problem either on this particular make of bass or a similarly equipped piezo/magnetic equipped bass. The output whether panned to piezo or electric is miserably low (battery replaced) to the point where I need to absolutely crank the input to get anything and at that point noise is a problem.

It's a 5th Anniversary (1987) Streamer bass which was bought from a rep, for a former Warwick distributor who bought it from the company due to it being owned by John Paul Jones (presented back when it was made). 'Very' limited ( ) and the very first Ltd Ed by Warwick (even Warwick don't have one in their collection) and unfortunately I have a guy who works for Warwick who has been promised first refusal on this bass if I ever sell! You to can one day have a collection like mine... especially the way that you are going!

Value/Price doesn't come into it for me, I gig what I own. My basses range in value from £200 - £5000 and I don't consider the value when I'm doing a gig, as they are instruments to be played and enjoyed.

What are really unfashionable at the moment?
I'm surprised no one's mentioned these Washburn/board B-20 monstrosities with their hideous triangular necks. Very horrible indeed!
Doh! I think they are cool!
warwicks are still unfashionable right?
Yes... and they will stay thus until such time as I have bought back all of the Warwick basses that I foolishly sold (and maybe one or two I haven't owned yet); THEN they will regain the reputation they justly deserve! -
Hi Dude, Apart from hard cash, would your desire for another 4 stringer possibly stretch to something other than the same again - the B string Just asking????
Hmmm. I'm being a bit dim tonight; have you got a 4 string Cruise to trade? I would consider other trades but it'd have to be something interesting.

I keep a KORG Pandora in my gigbag so that worst case scenario I can use that as a preamp and then go into the PA/Foldback. Carting around even a cheap spare amp (regardless of weight) seems excessive for the very unlikely event that your main amp goes belly up... do those who use a single cab carry a spare cab or at minimum replacement driver?

Eventually tempted Col to buy a bass from me! Straightforward bank transfer payment and he booked a courier, stress free, the way that it should be on BC. Now... about that parker Fly!
good point... but it is an awesome class D that might be the... er end of lunch? and clarky is miles and miles away down south. Will be going no where near him! (hi clarky!)
Not wishing to derail Clarky's thread but I will confess that the Tecamp 'Blackcat' class D amp that I had was probably the best class D amp but even that didn't stack up against the TF.
If I was coming down to newcastle in the next few weeks I would lend you my Puma1000 while I move house, but I'm not going anywhere near. Thunderfunk is pretty lightweight isn't it?
It isn't my thread Luke, I'm not the one wanting an amp! I'd not give up the Thunderfunk for anything... regardless of weight.
I'd be a little worried about being asked though...
What's to be 'worried' about? What could a potential buyer do with the info? The alternative (as above) is to refuse and that could indicate something to hide.
Assuming you know your bass and the serial number doesn't turn up anything random like it's been previously stolen at some time or that it's a different year than you think, then I'd see it as follows: 1) Provide serial number to buyer. Risk: buyer uses it to clone your bass and this causes confusion in the future. Probability: Low. 2) Refuse to provide serial number to buyer. Risk: you lose the sale. Probability: High. Personally - I'd just give the buyer the serial number if he sounds like he's genuine and interested.
Agreed. It's likely to be more of an issue with vintage basses of high value that 'could' be cloned and where the serial number could validate the instrument and authenticate it.
