1. So at what point does a bass cease to be 'new'? I'd have thought it would be when the first person to pay for a bass gets it from a distributor or manufacturer... surely once someone has bought something it ceases to be new and can't 'legally' be described as such! However, time and again I find stuff on ebay that is listed as 'new' (using the ebay drop down menu option) and yet patently it can't be! Case in point and I apologise if this turns out to be a BCer but maybe they can explain how it is still new and not used. 2. In 'the real world' where many of us are playing pubs and clubs (as opposed to concert halls and stadiums) there is always going to be the issue of backline v/+ PA and the effects that one has on the other. If you play in a loud band with an energetic drummer and your backline is also the FOH bass sound then it makes absolute sense that 'if possible' you utilise the alignment of drivers to get the best sound for the audience as well as you/the band. It gets very complicated/messy if you are ignoring the physics by putting the bass through the PA and yet are swamping the stage area with your cab(s) which in turn will have an affect on the FOH bass sound. ...sorry what was the argument/discussion about again?
 3.
Despite the fact that a 4x10 in traditional format may not be, in the experts opinions, correct for what we require, we are so used to it.
'Used to it' but only because salesmen don't want to give a better sound because it might not 'look' right.
Most of the 4x10s I've heard have been excellent. As expected, the higher priced models tend to sound a little better, usually,
But the point is that it could be better!
Most famous bass players who are renowned for a certain tone tend to just go with 'what sounds right' to their ears.
However, their 'tone', likely judged a good tone based upon on a recorded sound so the speaker displacement has nothing to do with it, would generally have absolutely nothing to do with their live tone... and they don't play down the Dog N Duck where their cab sound is the FOH sound!
 4. Have to agree that @ £1500 I'd not be dipping into my pocket but at that revised price I'd not even be giving it a 2nd coat of looking at!
 5. He bought an awful lot of 'Fender' replacement parts as well as Squier basses back in early 2010 inc' 70's neck plate etc.... not saying it is a con but odd that one of the things that he bought was a whole set of NEW Fender tuners!
 6. Those tuners look awfully shiny for a 34 year old bass!
 7. I even turn my Aggie DB1x12s on their side/edge so that I can get a bit more elevation.
 8. Still with the C&G case?
 9. Blimey... this has been a stroke of luck!
 10.
Have you a contact for bassdoc
Post #12 on this thread, PM him from there.
 11.
Why did they only make them for a short period of time ,one may ask
They were so fugly and expensive that nobody would buy them!
 12. I'm going to reappraise the trade only as I have seen something 'different' which appeals to me! re. the difference between Warwick and Spector; it just goes to show that 'one man's meat...' with both basses restrung with the same brand/gauge of string (on the same day), I find my SSI more zingier and piano like than the NS2 (both have that 'Growl') and the neck of the Spector is that bit fuller all round than the Warwick! If I can set aside an hour or two, I might do a little A/B and run a poll as a blind test to see what people think.
 13. Bump
 14. TBH Col I wouldn't! I'm not trying to be ar5ey about it but if I put a price on and I make it realistic it's likely that others may well come along and value their basses in cloud cuckoo land (this isn't directed at you but I've been offered a used bass that's absolute maximum price 'NEW' is about the expectation of what I'd say a used USA Spector is... a fair swap?). It's up to the individual to decide what their bass is worth in relation to what they feel my bass is worth; if someone contacts me and gives me their offer then I'll look at what I feel their/my bass is worth and decide if it is realistic. I would say that if anyone where interested then it'd be worth looking at what Euro Spectors have sold for or have been valued at and then adjust upwards for the fact that this is the full blown USA version. A new Sadowsky Metro may be £1800 new and £1200 used but it doesn't equate to a £3000 USA Spector being worth £2000 used. However, there has to be a happy medium somewhere. Saying all of that I love your P bass!
 15.
£4250
No way! £4237 max!
 16.
This is stunning, Mark has a video on YouTube of him doing some recording with this bass, it sounds fantastic!! Slaptastic- bump for a very special bass
Thanks for the heads up on that Lee, it is indeed this very bass. Here's the link and if you are wondering... it has a ramp fitted between the two pups (which I don't have but wonder if Mark still does). 17.
Fancy a swap for my Tom Petersson? P
Trade... but not a swap!
 18.
Yum! Tasty Bass sir.
Cheers.
 19. Is it the angle of the pic or is the bridge/neck misaligned and the G string close to the edge of the board, with the E string the opposite?
 20.
Preamp info.... http://www.sfcj.net/...ta_Preamps.html
Cheers for that. It is basically the same as the 88 circuit which tallies with this being an 89 instrument (serial number confirms this).
 21.
After that post, and the intense FB advertising, my warm relationship to Warwick is already cooling down, I'm sorry to have to say. bert
I can appreciate that the FB advertising may be annoying (but at least they have voiced that they will take this on board) and the response in the post that you allude to does appear to be a bit of a corporate 'cut n paste' job but I'm not sure why that should cool your opinion of them!
 22.
Awesome! Anything in my sig tickle your fancy?
Unfortunately not mate. Thanks for the offer though.
 23. I've probably already asked (and forgotten) but what does this weigh? Oh and as regards trades... possible Warwick or Spector trade but do you have cash or are you wanting cash your way?
 24. Not that it helps you but I'm another that would have been knocking on your door if that Hamer had been a 4 stringer... in fact at that price had your 5er been sub 9lb (the 2-Tek accounts for about 2lb of that total weight ) I'd probably have taken a punt to see if it converted me!
 25. Cheers. I should really clarify that this is NOT the lesser NS2A or J models it is the pukka full blown USA NS2.
