1. OK so the seller says it is a rare limited number bass but I've NEVER known Ashbory basses go for anywhere near £750! 2. I've just done a deal with Alex and a straighter dealing guy you'd have trouble finding. Don't let the fact that he is in Latvia put you off buying this bass or doing a deal with him, he is as sound as a pound!
 3.
A. Yes.
Ooof that's my thought that it was a Stingray or Sterling out of the window! As I've failed with Q2. I'll wait till Thursday to find out.
 4. Q2. Does it have a 4 in a row headstock? If the answer is 'NO' then I'll keep schtumm as I think I know what it might be!
 5.
Sadowsky?
That would be my guess... in fact possibly a bass that WoT actually tried a couple of years ago!
 6.
Yay!
Oddly enough from the same source as I bought my green 4 string... just 4 years after I nearly bought the amber one I am getting!
 7.
I don't suppose you've got a Zon 5 for sale too, have you??
Sorry! The 4 is sold and I don't have a five... or a six.
 8.
[sup]Shack used to do one where you could reset almost anything you like....right across the range, but you would have to have the back off ..and not something you could/would do mid song so not a sweep as such[/sup] [sup]tbh...It was too much choice and it could get confusing unless you were VERY methodical about your settings.[/sup] [sup]I wouldn't say this was a drop in pre either...[/sup]
Yes I had a Schack bass and tbh the ability to tinker was MAHOOSIVE almost too much as you could get some very weird results... including a whistling feedback! It was a great preamp but I don't think they were available as an after-market!
 9. I drove from Northumberland down to Lincoln to buy a motorbike which was described as 'excellent condition'... hand painted over every panel and surface inc' swingarm where it had slid down the road at 30+mph did not constitute 'excellent' in my book and that was virtually a full day wasted travelling to and from! Folks on here can generally be expected to be fairly accurate (at least if they wish to maintain any integrity over time) but the problem is definitions of poor/average/good/mint! Oh and in the very near future I will go into greater detail about sellers not declaring faults that they 'knew nothing about' and what one can reasonably expect to be done to rectify things when it is found that basses have things like duff pups and seized truss rods!
 10. No worries, it was a spare with the SONY and would have been used at some point but hasn't been in a laptop for a few years (laptop died years ago). If you take the battery do you want the floppy as a spare or for emergencies (it is a genuine integral SONY part and does go into the actual laptop not an external drive)?
 11. Spare battery pack (Sony - PCGA BP71A 14.8v/3000mAh), no idea how often it was charged used and also a slot in floppy drive (i.e. you remove the CD/DVD drive and this fits in the slot). Free if you can collect (NE24) or pay for delivery and I'll post.
 12.
Hi. Is this bass still for sale?
I now own it I'm afraid! TBH I don't know if it balances without the frame though that weighs nothing so I'd think so!
 13.
Use the VU meter and trim it to just less than 0dB. Its what its there for so you trim the input to the optimum level irrespective of passive or active input..
This is the 'Ashdown' VU meter we are talking about... well known for being as much use as a chocolate fireguard!
 14. As it happens I have already PMd Dan to let him know that I'll be airing this publicly but I'm not sure what they can do. Ultimately I've given the guy time as he has stated that he has been selling up as he is going through a divorce but I'm still the one sitting with a £900 bass that has a dead E string piezo and a seized truss rod... he is sitting with my £900 in the bank and his sole defence is that it wasn't like that when it left him!
 15. You can put passive pups in without any further mod as the preamp is the thing that affects the pot values (I installed Wizards in one of my Infinettes and that had active MEC pups and preamp, no further mod was required). I'm afraid I wouldn't know about the instillation of the JE pre and the affect that would have on existing or replacement pups! Good luck.
 16.
fair play john. many wouldn't give someone that much of a chance.
Diplomacy is all used up now! I've tried phoning, emailing and leaving messages/PMs on Basschat and despite some initial contact I think it's time to name and shame. Regardless of the fact that I'll no doubt get tails of divorce and family health problems, people should take time to sort out sh*t like this especially on a £900 purchase.
 17. +1 with using whichever sounds best... your ears will tell you if you are driving it too hard and you can then tweak it back.
 18.
I didn't realise that but ebay and paypal are the same people aren't they?
They are but they want the least hassle possible so it is correct that you start one dispute and you need to run it through; I go paypal everytime as they don't like the fact that you can get a chargeback from your credit card and they tend to sort it out sharpish.
 19.
the real question should be "how much does the Bass Doc charge for one of his masterpieces" Matt
Drop him a PM... I have!
 20.
Don't think for a second that ebay 'buyer protection' will do a F'ing thing to help you! I'm stuck in a dispute at the moment over a £400 item which the seller described as 2 years old & as soon as I got it I saw the Date 2007 on it's serial number & the manual! From my experience their customer relations are at zero, it's mind blowingly useless
From my experiences (seen from both sides), paypal will act and sort stuff like this very promptly and they have set timelines by which parties have to act otherwise it gets resolved in favour of the other party.
 21. If you paid via paypal he is stuffed! I don't blame you for pushing this regardless of the fact that it is just £14.
 22. Do you want my keys player's number to see if he wants to flog that burst PJ that I had a while back?
