I hear what you are saying but tbh most members ignore the bit about flagging up their own auctions; there are a handful on there at any given time. Last time I mentioned something along these lines someone pointed out that if a member had something on ebay and wanted to circumvent the forum rule then they just need to get another member to start a thread about it... not technically the member advertising their own auction!

1974 Fender Jazz on Ebay - not quite as it should be!
Given that he's the 'gnomes in the attic' feller, I wouldn't bother. Unless you fancy hearing about the price of his house and cars.
I wonder why he changed his user ID? -
Tried the authentication route and made as much progress with AC/DC. There's more than 5 floating about I think, have been in contact with at least 4 owners of similar instruments. Feel free to use the original pics - am amazed at the quote from Alex though.
What quote from Alex?

Trade only, not for sale at this point. If I A/B this Spector and my Warwick Streamer Stage I, I prefer my Streamer so this may as well go as it isn't going to get used over the SSI ...that's probably the worst opening trade pitch EVER but it is just my opinion and there are plenty folks who would prefer the Spector to Warwick. Manufactured in 1989 Quilted maple wings (the photo probably pops the quilt a bit more than in the flesh) Maple thru-neck Rosewood fingerboard EMG pups The back of the bass is the same burst colour as the front with a black finished neck rear. Complete with original Spector case Straplocks included General condition is generally good though it has a few dings around the bottom edge, though these are pretty difficult to photograph. The EMG pups and electronics work absolutely fine and the pots are lovely and smooth with no scratchiness. Truss rod is working 100% as I've just fettled it a bit and lowered the action. This bass used to belong to Funkyhobbit off BC (though I didn't buy it direct from him) so he may be able to help me out if you have any questions (e.g. what the preamp is etc. which is all original obviously) Trade - I'm not really sure what I want to be honest! I'd not refuse any style of bass BUT I'm only interested in 4 strings and I'd need to have an accurate weight for your bass and anything much more than 9lb is a definite no. I don't mind adding a bit of cash to a deal but equally I'd take a cheaper bass with cash my way.

It would take nothing for one of them to join up and no way of checking I suppose.

Has anyone ever run their TF 550 @ anything less than 4 ohms (not applicable to the 750 which I know can/does)? I'm considering running a 4 ohm Aguilar DB212 + an 8 ohm DB112 (+ x2 DB112s would be OTT). It isn't a definite as I'll try the 212 by itself first but wondering if for the gigs where I might need a bit more, then I could add a 1x12. I'm not fussed about which cab is handling how much wattage etc. but my reading around of the running of the TF @ 2-4 ohm loads, is giving mixed views. I realise that it is rated at 4 ohms but there is plenty 'reading' to say that so long as you are sensible with volumes it'll run fine. I could buy myself a cheap power amp and slave off the TF or even a cheapie bass head that could be used as a slave to the other cab(s). This is all idle musing is I prepare to go out to my gig tonight.

CIJ P Bass with Modulus Jazz Star Neck #price change#
warwickhunt replied to BossHog's topic in Basses For Sale
Collected a cab from Mick earlier today and I have to say that if anyone is sitting back mulling this one over then you need to get in quick before he comes to his senses and keeps it! I've been sitting for the last hour wondering whether my Spector NS2 or Parker Fly might sell in time for me to get this. -
I thought you only nought really lightweight stuff John Great cabs these & the Chocolate Thunder is a killer look!
I use a pair of DB12s and with casters on I'm hoping this will be as transportable (especially as we now use a van for gigs).

I take it back!

US Jazz Reissues - which had the stacked knobs?
warwickhunt replied to 4 Strings's topic in Bass Guitars
Ah! I was under the assumption you were talking a pair of stacked knobs as opposed to a newer active/deluxe model. -
I tried out a us jazz the other week, brand new? I was under the impression they came stacked as standard now?
The standard/norm is still V/V/T. If it is a stacked pot it is either 60's reissue (they call it a 62 reissue but I have a feeling the VVT was generally in use by 62 and 'technically' the stacker should be earlier than that) or it has had the plate replaced. -

I'll never part with my Bolins... or a couple of my Warwicks... or my PJ Sadowsky... probably not my Sterling(s)... other than that anything!

There are far too many variables to say whether single v laminate is 'best' (for starters what is 'best'; some might want a bass that rings for days yet others stick foam under the strings to stop sustain). I recently had a NT bass from a prominent UK manufacturer that was one piece neck and the flipping thing would go out of tune when you moved the bass from horizontal to vertical (it moved with the slightest pressure) yet I've got a 9 piece laminate Warwick neck that is as sold as a steel rod. I've also known basses where harmonics jump out or notes sustained and they could equally have been BO necked one piece necks as well as laminates. In fact I restung my Sadowsky and Warwick bass yesterday and I'd be hard pushed to say if either had an advantage... the Sado needed a tweak on the truss rod (1 piece maple) whereas the laminated Warwick needed no fettling and both basses went from heavy to medium gauge strings! I'm not sure if mention of glue is of any significance because even 1 piece necks (generally) have a fingerboard glued on or frets glued in and I'd have thought that the glue between neck laminates would be tighter and harder than the glue holding frets in. I've also read that sometimes a glued neck break is stronger than the wood itself so a thin smear of glue holding laminates shouldn't significantly impact on a bass; no more or less than a bridge fixing/material, neck screw tension, tuner materials, string mass, pup material/windings/height, amplifier, cabinet, cables, room acoustics... and so on.

TRADED 70s Ibanez Copy of a well known brand £600
warwickhunt replied to steviedee's topic in Basses For Sale
a price is usefull when you want to decide which bass value you want to trade with ...
Not wishing to be antagonistic but that isn't always the case! The OP might put a value which is low/realistic and someone looking to trade might consider their trade significantly higher. I personally think that folks should have an idea of relative values and just put their offer forward accordingly, the OP can thus say yes/no/barter; if someone has no idea what something is worth then IMHO that's a bad position to start negotiations! -

The basses you find nailed to pub walls... What the heck?
warwickhunt replied to wateroftyne's topic in Bass Guitars
I saw a Warwick Thumb on the wall in a German club...but it had lost its headstock, so was probably dead before it got nailed. A sad sight.
Alternatively what you saw was a VERY rare item... The first Thumb basses were designed to be headless and there were a few made! However, if it was simply snapped off, then fair does. -
