Only listened through that once and it's great to hear genuine live recordings... is it just me though but does TB occasionally go into the chorus refrain early? Not that it matters as it fits harmonically but if it is then it's an even better representation of 'live' music!
I bought a new set of DR Sunbeams recently, put them on my bass today, played for about 15 mins, then realised that I wanted to save them for when I get my new gear in a couple of weeks, so I took them off and put them back in the paper sleeves. Will they still sound as new and be as good when I put them on my bass again in a couple of weeks?
Give them a wipe with string cleaner or similar and you'd not notice any difference at all... tbh you'd probably not notice a jot of difference even if you didn't wipe them, not if they aren't sweaty and gunked up when you store them!
That's a ridiculous request...!
It was when you consider that to do just one gig a year meant not playing the town for 6 mths... with two gigs a ear at that venue you effectively couldn't play anywhere else in that town AT ALL!
I think in pub-covers-land, think a window of couple of weeks either-side of the date is reasonable. Anything more than that is stretching it a bit.
We were asked last year (in our area Michael) to agree to not play 3 mths either side of any date given in a certain venue... that meant 6 mths not playing in that town (which probably contains at least 4 venues that I play regularly). I politely declined as I feel that I am in best position to decide when and where my band played, rather some unilateral ban imposed by the venue. I'm still playing regularly in the town and I've got the other venues texting/calling me on a regular basis wanting to book us more often and said venue wishing to impose the policy, no longer puts bands on! I can see 'why' some venues want to do it but a well managed/organised band can make those decisions without a venue trying to enforce them.
Long term I'd go for the Dunlop "dual" version that has a more standard button, with the hole for the strap lock mechanism. If you forget your strap (or have problems) you can use any strap without having to re-fit the locks.
My Sterling has what I think BassBod is describing; an 'external' version of the OP's Dunlop. They accept the strap-pin as the OP's pic shows but they also act as a standard button if you forget the locking pin and you can just slip a strap around it. Probably the best solution!

Hmmm, I can only imagine either the sping-clip on the pin are worn (they keep the ballbearings forced out) or potentially worse; the socket is worn! Until you get the new kit to replace, have you tried reversing the pins and using the upper horn one in the bottom of the bass? Conversely, have you checked to see if the socket is worn? I've not had this problem with those fittings but it must be annoying if you just can't trust them and you have important gigs.

I'd not be unduly worried after 12hrs. Regarding the BIN etc; It could be that the buyer wants some protection in case there is a fault with the cab, paying via paypal gives some protection. Is the buyer local or is he likely to want it delivered, again a reason for paying by paypal.

2 days to learn 25 songs - any tips?
warwickhunt replied to Davo-London's topic in General Discussion
+1 to all of the above. I've just done something similar for two deps (20+ songs for each band... no cross over of any tracks but fairly easy songs as they are just typical rock/blues type tracks), the only difficulty was songs that I have never heard before and had no prior knowledge of! One thing I asked was that any songs that I was totally unfamiliar with, could we make sure that I wasn't the one bringing the song in i.e. guitar or keys to go through a pattern once if possible. Lots of cheat sheets with basic annotation and listening to stuff in the car to and from work etc. Hard work but I've thoroughly enjoyed it. -
Ahem, didn't you used to have two streamettes?
...and two Infinettes!

Ooof I bet the seller is upset at not having a reserve... or did it have!
-
I've had one (or is it two) of those and they are quite nice to play... hang on if I had two then they are even less 'rare'!

Couple of extra shots. The ding is possibly 2mm x 1mm and there literally is just the one. Yes this bass has been on here a couple of times and I got it back via a trade with Chris2112. It was intended to stay with me a bit longer as I do love it (hence trading to get it back) but I have managed to find myself another Bolin so something has to give to pay for that! No marks or dings to speak of (one tiny chip on the headstock but it is small), the Swamp Ash back has no worming and the only thing of note is that a previous owner has opened up the back of one of the Schaller style machineheads to tighten the screw and the metal insert/cover has a couple nibbles around the outside; note this is again small and only on the cover of the back of one of the machineheads. Can't/Won't try and expand on how the bass sounds as it is too subjective but for a graphite necked bass (no need to worry about truss rods or necks warping with this) it has the most organic sound of any graphite bass that I have owned. £1300 Complete with Zon case, Hiscox case or Tribal Planet semi case/gigbag (your choice of one). I can take a part-ex but it would need to be lightweight and a wedge of cash my way.

Phew glad it isn't just me!

Just been for an audition for a dep job in a local pub/club rock band. Went well prepared (i.e. learnt [with the aid of my own hand written notes] all 24 songs that the band do rather than 'just a few' that they recommended I learn) and I took spare bass, amp, cab etc. turned out I didn't need them as we'd be plugging into a mixer/cab and the drummer had electronic kit through the mixer... no problem. However, one of the guitarists wouldn't be able to make it... and after the drummer received a brief phone call it turned out neither was the other one! So a strange audition with just me the drummer and the singer. Anybody else had a similar experience?
Paypal didn't charge you at all? They only charge if you are in receipt - is that right?
I always get this wrong so I'd check with paypal but effectively someone somewhere within the transaction will be paying to use the paypal service.

It is a bit of a minefield because there isn't a universal exchange rate and some banks charge a set fee for exchange and/or a percentage. I had a 'mare a few years back when I sold a bass to a guy in Canada because we agreed on a price in £ sterling which he then converted (using an agreed conversion rate) to $ and paid me through paypal (splitting the paypal fees). We hadn't accounted for the fact that paypal absolutely extracted the urine with their conversion rate (which wasn't easy to establish at the time) and ended up having to renegotiate the price because he had set an upper limited in $ based upon the conversion rates that we had been using on-line. All sorted in the end but a pita to get right.
