is this a bit of a long shot?
It's not an unreasonable offer but the chances of finding someone with a 5 looking to go back to a 4 is 'probably' slim, add into the equation that it is a Sado/Sado deal that you want specifically makes it a narrower market; I'd have thought that selling it and buying a Sado 5 with the resulting cash would give you way more options... IMHO!
Thanks for your comment. Fair enough, but I was hoping for offers and to gauge interest. I've already had a number of direct enquiries.
Unfortunately forum rules don't cover the 'offers' option, it's a requirement to stick a price up.
May not be totally representative. Would you give £300 to a seller with low feedback and not 100% at that. The question is does the buyer actually ever get the bass or just a load of hassle and eBay/Paypal claiming!
You missed the main reason that it didn't go any higher (aside from it's a Warwick)... it's BLUE!
Fixed one tiny detail for you.
Ooops! Very true, nearly dropped a major clanger.

Buy ANY non-budget Warwick now and glory in the fact that you'll have a cracking bass that seriously can't dip in value any lower than it presently is but rest assured WILL be worth more in years to come!

Sticking some LaBella flats on my Sterling...
Well ????????????????????????????????????????????
Sounds sweet in the house through my house amp, can't wait to get it up to volume with the band. My memory must be going though because I do seem to recall that these heavy (109) LaBellas were higher tension but these feel fine! -
I tried one at New Kings Road Vintage Guitar Emporium a few years ago. It was an ex-Bob Daisley example and was up for £2,000.

Mine sold on eBay around six or seven years ago, for less than a grand.
I'd guess from just those two quotes alone that you can pluck a figure from thin air and it might be close! If it is genuinely from the Fender Custom Shop (I've no idea if they did produce a 100 certificated items), then it's got to be at least greater than the lowest quoted figure... but what do I know as it doesn't begin with 'W'.

Sticking some LaBella flats on my Sterling...
Have you put them on yet, John?
Literally just fitted them! Not as high a tension as I seem to recall from my last set, not plugged into an amp yet but will do later. -
Flats work wonders on EBMM basses....soon all of mine bar one will have flats.
As I say, iirc it was specific to the magnet material in the Sterling (as opposed to the Ray) but I suppose the Big AL has the same magnet material as the Sterling -
I know nothing about Sterlings but I can't see that problem. If the magnet was so powerful that it prevented the string from vibrating then lower the pickup. Anyway, you could try La Bella 760FL (light guage) or even 760FX (extra light).
I've got a set of the big old ship's hawsers in the draw so I'm putting them on tomorrow night. As I say I just seem to recall reading somewhere that either the magnet material and/or the density of the strings were a bad/strange mix. I'm aware that I can drop the pup height to compensate but I'm assuming that where-ever I read about the issue then they would have tried that. No big deal I'm going to stick them on now any way but if there was a documented issue I'd have had second thoughts and put them on a different bass (sadly not the Bolin as that just snaps G string flats ). -
Just about to chuck a new set of La Bella flats on my Sterling but I've a niggling feeling that I've heard that there is something about the mass of the big heavy flats and the power/magnet construction of the Sterling pup that makes it a bad mix; anyone have any experience? I accept that tone is subjective so I'm not on about flats v rounds or one brand v another, it's a simple case of is there a reason why they shouldn't work together and does anyone run a Sterling with big flats on it?

Though I admit it was a few years ago now (http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3653&hl=Jazz&st=20) I sold my USA 60's reissue (with a John East preamp) for about the same money as your seller wants for a MIJ but it was as much as I could get at the time. Ultimately though it's a case of a bass is worth what the buyer will pay... if there is a buyer around! It's a mixed up world though when JV Squiers can fetch as much as a USA P bass and MIM basses can be almost a grand new (not that I am implying anything negative about any of the former)!

Not sure of the size of the venues that you intend playing but unless you can get your subs (assuming you are looking at a pair) a good distance a part (sure BFM/AC/others will give the required distance), then you are better off just using a single sub... or stack the two subs together! We went active last year and bought some used RCF gear with a Yamaha desk and we've never looked back. In the region of 2.4k rig and despite the six piece band going through it at some venues, we've got loads of headroom, cost us about £2k which was a pair of used 750 tops, single 900w bass bin and a new desk. The weight (bin aside) is great and it's an easy one man lift to get the tops onto the pole/stand.
very true i may go up on the train and get it .
We should start our own BC network, if you're coming up to say Newcastle from Cornwall; you could collect a bass for me from down South (ie on route) and I'd meet you half way... just got to go and find someone selling a bass in Cornwall now.
Sorry i know this is in the wrong place but i am getting desperate and nobody has answered it in the correct section.
I suspect the problem is that so many couriers have small print that excludes guitars yet they will still take your premium to insure them, thus it's a bit of a minefield establishing who does. Check the start of the thread that you originally posted in and you may be able to glean a courier that will accept your package BUT (and that is a big 'J Low' sized BUT), I personally would phone the courier and after establishing the name of the person you are speaking to (for later reference if there should be a problem), ask if they insure instruments that aren't in cases. There is no easy answer afaik!

Not a much loved model, but a bit of a bargain for a Dolphin SN bass... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=150602807273

These days I'd be seriously concerned about 'Fakes'! There have always been good copies/fakes but these days the attention to detail is just scary and I reckon unless you know your stuff absolutely inside out, there's a fair chance of getting stung!
Just put my 1955 Custom shop Precision on ebay for 1500.00 but I would welcome an offer from Basschat. Nice subtle relic job. Not an obvious one like most they do. A great example with spare pickup and case candy. Sad to see it go. cheers,
You sure that it's on eBay? I've done a multitude of searches and despite a combination of most options to find your bass it doesn't show up... if it is up on ebay, it might be worth you checking how it is listed.

Change 4-string from EADG to BEAD?
warwickhunt replied to Michael Currie's topic in Repairs and Technical
A good solid stable neck should handle the change no problem. As has been pointed out it will likely as not, require some fettling (nut, truss rod tweak, bridge saddles) but nothing serious. -
Post them here on the thread. I'd like to see them too, and personally, I think some good pics on here to catch people's attention and make us go 'wow', is the only way you're going to sell this beauty.
That or make the price so tempting that I have to put my hand in my pocket!

I have a Tech Soundsystems 2x12 combo/cab available that is essentially the identical design to the Schroeder (2nd driver on an angled baffle) iirc the Tech design predates the Schroeder. It's essentially a combo with the amp section removed (there is a 2U slot on the top where you can insert a rackmount amp or rack effects), it comes complete with an extendable speaker cable fitted with a speak-on connector (though you could solder on whatever fitting you required); 8ohms 300w and £195 if it's of interest! The drivers look like the aluminium Hartke ones but they aren't, they are the Tech 'Classic-line' speakers. For a description of sound... think Schroeder! <edit> I should add that it has a variable tweeter, which unlike standard tweeters where you just subtract it from the mix, you have different selectable settings.
Up for sale is a Crafted in Japan in 2000/2001 (the early series) Fender Sting Signature bass, a.k.a. '54 reissue. All original- ash contoured body, one piece maple neck, 50's single coil, vintage style reverse tuners, extremely nice wood grain, little mojo on the body but nothing major. Plays extremely nice with a lot of vintage vibe in it, low action, tones of sustain and nice bassy growl. I originally bought it from a bass tech in Germany so you can imagine he picked a good one for himself back in the day. Comes with the Warwick case from the pictures. It is currently with Truckstop who is located in St. Albans, Hertfordshire and can be picked up there or perhaps shipped. The price I am after is £600 since this is a very good specimen, hardly comparable to the recent production Sting Signatures.
I didn't realise their was more than one production run of the Sting 'Signature' bass! Do you have an accurate weight for the bass and can you elaborate on the mojo?
