I realise that they are all posted at 'silly o clock' in the morning but either someone has hacked your account or you've been hitting the sauce bottle pretty hard and taking your woes out on we imaginary people on t'interweb!
  2.
fanned frets are a fad!
Just had a quick look at your recent posts mate... I realise that they are all posted at 'silly o clock' in the morning but either someone has hacked your account or you've been hitting the sauce bottle pretty hard and taking your woes out on we imaginary people on t'interweb!
  3.
when nobody cares?
Who ate your porridge? It's a bit of banter... a bit of chat about a bass!
  4.
they sell basses., waht more do you want?
Maybe a bit of feedback to be sure they aren't a load of shyte and that they are accurate with their descriptions and get stuff out on time etc etc etc A quick bit of research on this forum about one or two other online bass retailers/shops would tell me I wondered touch those other retailers with a bargepole, so its nice to just ask for some insight from folks that have used them and it all seems positive. IMHO it's what BC is good at.
  5.
Sorry, could you translate this, please? "Tardy", to me, means "late", but this doesn't seem to make sense. Does it have some different meaning up your neck of the woods?
Strange that! I've always used the word 'tardy' to indicate; substandard, sloppy, slapdash. Whereas the dictionary definition does indicate lateness.... so yes in answer to your question, up my neck of the woods it does mean something else!
  6.
hi yes i have, Brian is a great guy, easy to deal with, had no problems what so ever alex
Cheers Alex. Just out of interest does The Gallery still do commission sales as I have 3 or 4 top end basses that I may well be selling. PM me details if you have the time.
  7.
... maybe someone just copied the headstock and is trying to pass it on as a Shuker?
I was going to say 'why not just copy the headstock of a pukka Thumb'... but then I realised what that would make it worth!
  8. I've got to say that the actual skeleton of the bass looks to have a fair bit of quality to it and appears to be very well shaped/contoured/made... in fact part of me wondered for a while if the headstock had been grafted onto a Thumb bass! The issues to appear to be over placement of fittings etc. and that is something which 'would appear' to be pretty tardy.
  9. I seriously thought someone had made a mistake when they were listing their Thumb bass... till I saw the headstock! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/John-Shuker-Custom-T...=item230e95b03e I have to confess though it isn't exactly the same there is more than a passing resemblance; I assume the guy who ordered it wanted something 'like' a Thumb.
  10. Rather than start a new thread I thought I'd resurrect this one! Has anyone any experience buying from thelowend? I'm not after one of their Jazz basses, I'm interested in the 'used' stock. Cheers
  11.
Seems odd that the bass with fewest options seems to be the most versatile ....
Not sure that you can claim that it is 'the most versatile' but I know what you mean. What tends to happen is that if you have a very simple bass (or even a complicated bass that you keep on one setting) then you learn to play around to find different tones; you'll vary your attack, where you pluck the string, how you damp etc. etc. There is something to be said for having it simple and using your fingers to coax what you want out.
  12.
Still, it is a matter of opinion, and I don't think we and the forum admins share the same one.
Correct but I'm not sure why there should be a divergence or conflict!
  13.
That's true. It is far from a perfect solution. Then again, I can't see any other way, given the current rules.
Agreed! However, I believe that if members (possibly with X number of posts to their name) were allowed to advertise their auctions via a thread on BCs ebay section then nobody would be any the worse for it, members have the right to choose whether they wished to bid on items or not. It'd take seconds to set up a 'Members Sales' subforum in the ebay section, then if BC members didn't want to trawl through members listings then they could just look in the regular section which is there for us to criticise and pull basses apart that appear on eBay! It's not rocket science to resolve.
  14.
I would assume you know how roughly much the items are worth (or how much you'd like for them). Is that not enough?
Possibly but ebay is an auction site, Basschat is not. So having no reserve I take a calculated risk of getting more than what I think it is roughly worth... but it might come up less and a Basschatter gets a bargain! It poses the problem that if I advertise it on here for £100 and it goes to £150 on ebay, I'd be unlikely to sell it to a BCer; however, I could then be accused of running an auction style sale on my sale thread.
  15.
Now all you need is a mate (from no particular bass guitar conversation type forum in particular ) to spontaneously and completely at random post a link for your auctions in the ebay discussion section. I suggest a title of "Wow 'xyz bass gear' for 99p!!!!" may reap dividends.
[s]Thanks for the offer. [/s] I mean... NO that would be devious and underhand!
  16.
You can always circumvent the problem and advertise your gear in the For sale sections with a price in mind and a link to your ebay account. Unless there's an esoteric interpretation of the rules, that seems resonable.
I've stuck stuff on eBay with no reserve starting at 99p... unfortunately that precludes me from putting it up in the sale section!
  17.
... we get to have some listing baiting fun like the old days
Ahhh the old days! What fun we had policing t'interweb-bay... whatever happened to those days of ripping things apart and uncovering the scammers?
  18.
I don't go up on stage for the 'look at me' and glory/adulation factor, never understood that or rather that was always secondary or irrelevant.
HANG ON! You strut about in a tiny little bikini and you say don't go up on stage for the glory or adulation! You've got to be having a kin laug... Oh hang on, the young lady in your avatar isn't you is it!
  19.
So I reported two of them and was told thatn they were in the right place because they were for Ebay auctions. Can the mods please sort out WTF Ebay links are for, because it's certainly not what the subtitle says it's for.
I'd like this clarified as I've ran ebay auctions of my gear recently and due to the statement that it wasn't for members to advertise their auctions, I haven't put threads up! Seems a bit of a farce if new members come on and do it with impunity and in some cases actually have mods move their ebay auction threads from other parts of the site to the ebay section, yet a long standing member abides by the rules. If it is a free for all and we can advertise our ebay auctions without fear of a slap on the wrist then I'd like to know for next time.
  20. He's offering a full refund if not happy!
  21. Is it not worth putting the parts together Dave and selling as a whole? Is there too much missing to complete?

    Looping
The whole 'main riff' is looping on DL4's. Watch the guy's feet with the gold guitar.
Not a band I've encountered but quite like that, cheers!
  23.
The question is: what if you never got paid again? Would you just play for the sheer enjoyment? Would your band still enjoy the gigs, knowing there was no payment for them?
If 'hypothetically' there was no payment for ANY gig and I'd never get recompense for my equipment and its upkeep (inc thousands of pounds worth of PA and lights) or travel (long distances), then I'd play for free... but only down at my local boozer for Buskers Nights etc.
