If we are talking pub gigs with covers bands, then it has been tough over the last couple years and tougher still this last 12mths. Used to be where we could pick and choose gigs and do as many or as few as we wanted... not so much now, though to be honest we just need a handful of gigs to please ourselves so we can be selective. Worst thing is the number of bands having gigs cancelled at short notice (sometimes when they turn up to the venue) or being paid off after one set and yes I am talking about pub gigs by decent bands; added to which in real terms fees are down on what they were 5-10 years ago, in fact my last band were getting £200 17 years ago, same venues are now paying £150-£180!

WTB Musicman Stingray 4 string Unlined Fretless
warwickhunt replied to Jazzer's topic in Basses For Sale
Agreed, but hopefully someone who has one will be tempted to PM me... Cheers
Problem is that if folks just start posting wanted ads in the sales then it turns into a free for all and we'll get bogged down looking for what we want... see where I'm coming from? -
These are off/for a Warwick bass but I'm sure they'll fit other makes; I may have bought these 'new' years ago and never fitted them but I really can't remember, I certainly bought a new set to replace some well tarnished ones. They are solid and heavy (going off the weight, brass I believe with a gold coating... not real gold) and as they have a grub screw I'm assuming they are for a solid shaft as opposed to split. I won't sell individually unless someone wants whatever you don't. £12 +P&P

I agree... and disagree! I have a Warwick SSI that was the first Warwick I ever bought almost 20 yrs ago, so holds great sentimental value (despite me trading it for another Warwick then getting it back from a fellow BCer a few years ago); yet I think I'd likely as not trade sell it if and when the time is right. Yet I own a Bolin and another Warwick Ltd Ed which I can put hand to heart and (almost ) categorically state I'll never sell. This is odd especially as the Bolin was a purchase from new and has no special significance; the Ltd Ed Streamer on the other hand will remain with me as it is almost certainly a bass that I will NEVER be able to replace, literally no matter what the cost. So in summary; I have a couple of 'keepers' yet they are keepers for very different reasons and basses which should be keepers... aren't!
Thinking of making a trip to BassGear, WH?
No, my reputation for bass turnover almost equals your own and as such my purchases these days are always 'used' so that I don't lose too much money when (not if) I resell!

It is what it says on the tin... and was quickly shelved by Fender. However the seller is renowned for being either economical or extravagant with the truth so take the mention of CS with a pinch of salt. For evidence of what I mean check out the 'Musicman' he has for sale! warwickhunt replied to lamibosh's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
So, do I move my auction or not ? I think the best way, if it's ok, is to stay like this. I can't give a price because I'd like to finish the auction. Sorry for my poor english
It is not your problem, you are just doing what seems correct. The owner/Moderators have not made it clear what is the appropriate action! -
12hrs to go and it's sitting at £440... someone is going to be disappointed to receive an OLP copy!

Yes, no problem. Take a few minutes to read through these... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=135 http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3730

Quick answer is No (and also yes, if you want to start messing with dummy loads ) but tbh the gain of a single 4ohm 12" over a single 8ohm 12" is negligible. You only really start to get the benefit when you double up the GS/DB1x12 cabs. I'm sure someone will come along with the maths of how much you will gain from a 4ohm load and then someone else will point out that you can't really 'hear' the difference between the two but you will find that this has been covered before and the outcome is that it isn't worth the hassle or cost (in the case of replacing the driver). Just saved you loads of hassle!

No disrespect to this guy who joined yesterday (especially as one of our own may be after what he is selling and it may strengthen the case for allowing newbies to post on eBay section) but can someone clarify what is actually going on! New members are joining and posting links to eBay auctions in the for sale section, these are then subsequently getting moved by Mods to the eBay section... I thought that it had been discussed/decided earlier that 'eBay Links' WASN'T for personal sales and if it is then it wasn't available to newbies! Colour me confused.
Oddly enough there was clarification from the Mods that the eBay section is NOT for that purpose! Don't shoot the messenger I'm simply relaying what I've read.
Ebay links This forum is for the discussion of Ebay auctions. Please do not promote your own auctions. If you have something to sell, please use the For Sale forums. Forum Led by: The Burpster ... and yet a members auction is moved to this section! Gotta love that consistency guys! -

Advice on making a Classic Vibe 50's P more comfortable

re. the neck - If you are talking about a maple board and you want it back to matt then it will require a de/refret and is best done by a luthier/builder. Back of the neck is a different matter and that's an elbow grease done at home job. -
Odd though it may seem for a large off road vehicle, my Nissan X-Trail has no greater load carrying capacity than my old Focus Estate or my wife's Pug 307 Est. So I would imagine that you'd need a really long wheel base 4x4 to accomplish fitting a DB in the back without it poking through between seats (sorry I have no DB to test that but I've a fair idea that it couldn't fit in my X-Trail). I wouldn't dismiss the Subaru Forester as an Est car with 4x4 capabilities; I had one and it is a very able off/soft-roader with the added benefit of Hi/Lo ratio box... though again you'd not fit the DB without it poking between the front seats!

I have to confess that though he may not appear the most technical or chop-driven bassist; if I had to, I'd sooner spend an extended period listening to MM (Mike Mills) than the other MM... or many of the other 'clever' bassists!
