Bravewood 64 Style J-bass for sale
warwickhunt replied to lamibosh's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Or you could bang it up in the Ebay links forum?
Oddly enough there was clarification from the Mods that the eBay section is NOT for that purpose! Don't shoot the messenger I'm simply relaying what I've read. -

Yep, to advertise it for sale you need a price for someone to buy. -
Advice on making a Classic Vibe 50's P more comfortable
warwickhunt replied to cameltoe's topic in Bass Guitars
re. the neck - If you are talking about a maple board and you want it back to matt then it will require a de/refret and is best done by a luthier/builder. Back of the neck is a different matter and that's an elbow grease done at home job. -
Odd though it may seem for a large off road vehicle, my Nissan X-Trail has no greater load carrying capacity than my old Focus Estate or my wife's Pug 307 Est. So I would imagine that you'd need a really long wheel base 4x4 to accomplish fitting a DB in the back without it poking through between seats (sorry I have no DB to test that but I've a fair idea that it couldn't fit in my X-Trail). I wouldn't dismiss the Subaru Forester as an Est car with 4x4 capabilities; I had one and it is a very able off/soft-roader with the added benefit of Hi/Lo ratio box... though again you'd not fit the DB without it poking between the front seats!

I have to confess that though he may not appear the most technical or chop-driven bassist; if I had to, I'd sooner spend an extended period listening to MM (Mike Mills) than the other MM... or many of the other 'clever' bassists!
... but otherwise it's quite nice.
Aside from the fact that the neck isn't screwed flat/full into the neck pocket! I'd be concerned by picture #8.
I'm not surprised he was fiddling with his bass - it was sooooo out of tune!!!
Was he? I must be going a bit mutton Jeff as I thought it sounded fine!
Hasn't anyone noticed that there aren't any strings on the the lead guitar?
LOL I thought that but wasn't that fussed to go back and check each time he came up!
Err....why would he be tuning if they were miming?
See above.
Sounds live anyway, and it looks like he's fretting to let the note ring while he tunes. He was probably having problems, it does happen, bad string, dodgy bridge saddle, the string could have been slipping out of tune, happens to the best of us.
As WoT says it was probably recorded live earlier in the day/whenever and they were playing along to a backing track. However, if it were genuinely meant to be live you could not have had JT fretting a note whilst taking his plucking hand to tune whilst at the same time hearing a continued pulsing of notes (unless as I suggested earlier he was hammering on which you can't see him doing and there is usually a difference in tone when this happens). Not that any of it matters because JT was doing it for whatever reason he felt appropriate. Maybe it was his subliminal way of saying 'I realise the guitarist has no strings so is indicating his contempt for the prerecorded format and this is my way of thumbing my nose at the fact we aren't playing live'... just my thoughts.

Pretty tricky to keep playing 1/16ths whilst reaching over to tune... and not dropping a beat! It could be done if his right hand continued to hammer the notes but that doesn't look/sound to be the case. Saying that, there's nowt worse than thinking you are out of tune with the rest of the band and you are mid song.
I really like Pyramid Flats in terms of feel and tone, but they're not very sturdy. Odd really, seeing as they cost quite a bit for set...
Yes, I liked the set I got new off a fellow BCer but when I transferred them to another bass they started to fall apart (especially the G string) and died when I transferred them back (snapped G string)! Always been happy in the past with Sunbeams but then again I got my last box of them direct from the States and I'm now a bit dubious of reordering.

I can honestly say that in 30 yrs of playing in bands, the last thought on my mind when selecting a bass is, 'active/passive'! Is it playable, is it comfortable, does it sound good/bad (regardless of whether it has a battery), does it look good (honest ) ad infinitum; they all come WAY before I consider if it is 'active/passive'. However, of the 7 basses I own, every one is active with the option of switching to passive; I play them all active... with the tone controls cranked!
-
Bought LOADS of basses unseen/unplayed (yes I am a bassaholic and freely admit the fact )... infact of the 7 basses I presently own, only 1 did I play before I bought it. I've only ever really been disappointed when a seller (BCor eBay) has categorically stated that a bass has been a particular weight however when it has arrived it has been significantly not as described! I confess that had I tried the bass before hand then I'd have spotted that but living in the far North of the country it's difficult to try before you buy when the bass is 'darn Sarf'! I used to be a bit vague when asking questions and agreeing on the details of a distance sale but now that I have realised you have to be hard-nosed when buying long distance, I'm not afraid to say to someone; "if this isn't as described, it's coming back to you" and that generally sorts out the wheat from the chaff! I have to say that I won't deal with someone on BC who hasn't got a good feedback or at least integrity and the only good thing about eBay is that now the buyer has the upper-hand.
Are you counting the shill bidders in with the general public?
Scary thought is that without shill bidders (if there are any) it would have sold for less!
... and sold for £565.55. If it's real then that's a bargain.
Let's see if it's as real as the last time it sold! At the end of the day it was flagged up on here and well advertised on ebay (not misspelt or in the wrong section) so it has apparently sold for what the general public on ebay think it is worth.

Quoting the manufacture date of your bass.
warwickhunt replied to machinehead's topic in General Discussion
BTW, I have a 1997 Warwick Streamer Stage 2. Not a crappy new one.
Simply by giving me the date of your SSII I've ascertained that it has a neck profile which some won't like when compared to say an 87 and it has a headstock volute which I don't like as much as I like those without volutes from the SSII inception till about the mid 90's... I think you already know the answer to your question really! -
You rang! My brains not functioning properly today but if you stick a pic up I may be able to help. There are different makes and sizes on the various Warwicks and the early ones do 'bolt' rather than 'screw' in as there is a threaded thingy (see my brain is fuzzed with this cold) inserted into the wood which the bolt screws into. They rarely come out without you trying to get them out but on occasion they can come out when taking the strap button off and some folks don't realise what they are and sling them. If it is the part of the locking system that fixes to the strap I may (no promises) have a spare pair but I'd need to know I was talking about the same thing.
SECONDS after I post the pics are up... uncanny! Yep that's what I thought. They are just the early standard fitting (I think new sets from Schaller are a different size) and there are loads in circulation you just don't want to be buying new straplock sets. I'll see if I have spares later... just hope they aren't becoming scarce and hard to replace!
