    If I was starting out again and with a limited budget, I'd go for a used Hartke LH500 head and a pair of used Peavey 2x10 cabs. Stack the two cabs end on end and you'll get a much better spread of sound than a normal 4x10. Though from the budget amp line-up I wouldn't dismiss Peavey, GK (the older 400/800RB) or some of the old TE and Laney range... actually thinking about it, there's a lot more choice available for a lot less money than there used to be and I could probably find a whole raft of stuff that's been up for sale on here or eBay recently.

    I'm a proper bass player, I'm too busy packing the gear away coz the rest of the lazy bastard band are nattering to; groupies, kit junkies, the promoter, my Mum (hang on that's not right ), the support band's parents, other 'so called' musicians, other bands with the generic "you're tight" observations, drunken idiots giving them career advice or any person not mentioned previously in order that they can avoid packing the gear away... do I speaketh the truth?

    I'm trying to get a good impression of the 'actual' weight of these basses (as opposed to manufacturers guesstimates), do you have a decent set of kitchen scales you could throw your CV on to better inform my possible next (remote) purchase? My local music stores don't have any in stock and I'm likely to be buying used from here or eBay and not everyone can or will be able to give an accurate weight so it would be a huge help.

    I'd take the body shape, contours and colour/shellac finish from my Streamer; the headstock and piezo from the Bolin; the neck from the Zon. I'd then take the tone from all 3 of them and I'd have the ultimate bass... that I can think of at the minute!

The picture of the neck shows the fibre optic fibre from my Fret FX fretboard light which I can either remove from the bass or can be included with the bass for an additional £20. A hard case is included in the sale price. I'll re-fit the original strap buttons before any sale. I'd prefer a sale although trade wise I might be interested in a nice P or a P/J with some cash coming your way. Viewings and collection available from North Bristol. I'll happily travel up to an hour from here for a purchaser or arrange shipping (insured) at a cost of £20. Any questions please let me know. Cheers and thanks for looking Pete[/quote] As I'm sure you already know Pete, the bass isn't an NS4 and I'm sure one of the Spector experts will be along shortly to identify it but I think it's something like the NS2000 model. Not withstanding the changed truss rod cover its a decent enough bass with a thru-neck for £160. <edit> Oh and you could equally say that SSD is 'post' Spector but as it is, your bass is an SSD!

    I have to say that with a BO neck bass/guitar I'd actually be happier with the neck removed if it didn't have a dedicated hardcase! +1 for Interparcel (intermediary for UPS TNT etc but actually cheaper than booking direct with UPS TNT... try figuring that one out).     Dear Linus27. I have an audition for a new band tomorrow. Will I improve my chances of getting the job if I stencil Ampeg SVT on the front of my Thunderfunk? I've already filled my Aquilar DB112s with lead-weights and the silver cloth grille makes it look like a miniture 8x10 (especially if I place it far away in the corner of a dark rehearsal room), so I'm half way there. Please tell me I'm not bowing to the fascist non-bass playing fraternity who believe that all amps should be SVT and all basses should start with the letter 'F'... OH She it! I've just realised that I don't own one of [u]those[/u] basses and that the 'W' on the headstock will never disguise as a 6 letter word starting with 'F' and ending 'ender'; I'm doomed and may as well cancel my audition.
