1.
I asked in the Hartke subforum about how to rewire the 410 cab as a 4ohm to get the max push out of the amp and was told it could not be done.
I'm confused (doesn't take much)! Are you talking about wanting to rewire your Hartke 4x10 to 4 ohms from the 8 ohm it presently is? As OBBM has said it can't be done but more importantly 'why' would you want to (unless you were downsizing)? Utilising your pair of 8ohm cabs with your present amp, you are getting the max out of your amp; even if you changed the drivers in your 4x10 so that you could achieve a 4 ohm load you would then be unable to run your new 4 ohm 4x10 in conjunction with any other cab (your 1x15 thus rendered redundant). Worst of all you'd be getting less spread out of the single 4 ohm 4x10 than you would out of the pairing of 8 ohm 4x10 + 1x15 AND at least your 'stack' will be closer to ear level so that you perceive more volume.
 2.
Electrically both methods are identical, a parallel load. The only potential advantage to running the cables each separately to the amp is then the current flow and cable resistance loss is divided between them. That's only an advantage if the cables are shy on current capability and have high DCR from being under gauged.
To add to Bill's reasoning for preferably running two leads from the parallel outs as opposed to daisy chaining is that if you are daisy chaining cabs live and the lead from head to cab #1 fails then you have zero output going to both of your cabs; however, if 1 lead fails and you are running parallel outs from your head then at least 1 of your cabs will still be running. Ever the pessimist I always like to cover the options for that dreaded 'silent moment' whilst performing!
 3.
How difficult do you think it would be to sand back through all that horrible blue?
If it is a factory High Gloss finish then it'd be a swine to do (personal experience ), chemical peelers/strippers barely put a mark on these finishes; the curves and concave/convex contouring also make it difficult to do well with a flat sander... being a NT doesn't help either! It could be done though.
 4.
If this is still here at the beginning of next month I'll take it!
Sorry, sold!
 5. How light are we talking for the bass that you tried out?
 6.
I suppose there will always be buyers for it on Basschat should I want to move it on.
Maybe even a very local one if it happens to be a sunburst bass and the weight is nice and light...
 7. Watch out for BigAl his slobber is notoriously corrosive. If by any chance you can't do a gig (broken arm/syphilis/trots) me or Al could probably fill in for ya! Oh and welcome back to the NE gigging scene.
 8. Loads of options available to you but for a blanket reply I'd say you'd be hard pushed to beat Peavey stuff for anyone wanting a bit of quality on a budget.
 9.
maple bodied thumb? thats not normal is it?
Not normal at all but you can order pretty much any combination you like on a Warwick Custom bass. That does lead me to believe that his quoted original purchase price is just for an off the shelf Thumb. I'd also prepare for the worst and assume the LEDs are kapput because it'd take nothing to fix if the problem is simply a battery wiring loom, you'd get it fixed if it was that easy... well most people would anyway!
 10.
I've got a great Sadowsky PJ Metro..and I'm thinking about it.....
Let's talk.
 11.
Just a quick digression, and not meaning to hijack the thread, but have you thought about getting a Warmoth Dinky P or Dinky J body (or even their chambered J, although that's not downsized) in a light wood like swamp ash, to team up with whatever neck and hardware you fancy? Could be a relatively cheap and effective way to get that elusive lightweight issue sorted...
Not a bad idea at all and something that I've considered and discussed with Howie; only trouble being you've no guarantee what the actual weight will be. Also by the time I factor in buying the other parts it might start to get pricey and have a very limited resale value if it doesn't suit my needs... at least a factory Sado or similar will be worth what I paid for it if I decided to sell it on. I do like your train of thought though Owain.
 12. Not the 'actual' bass that I had in my mind but certainly one of mine and I do remember... not that many people using Randall combos. Always nice to know where some of my old basses are. I've always thought those 87-89 'transition' basses that have the Wenge/Maple as opposed to Maple/Wenge necks with the 2 piece bridge as opposed to the 1 piece are some of the best basses Warwick built. There was always a subtle changing of the contouring over the years and if they'd retained the very earliest uber-slim bodies/necks with that neck/bridge set up then that would be my ultimate 'Custom' Warwick bass! So who else wants to be another satisfied Warwick owner?
 13.
Think I bought a bass from you some years ago - a nice sister fretted streamer to the ones shown. Played the fretless in the picture and at the time you had a Fortress with that massive weighted bridge as well as a Thumb. You like your Warwicks! Anyway good seller - highly recommended.
All of the basses that you mention have resided with me at some time in the past and I certainly remembering owning that combination of basses that you mention about 8-10 years ago... or maybe longer! Did you have an Ampeg combo at the time? In fact whilst moving house recently I found a pic of the bass that you may have bought, do you still have it; IIRC it had a bit of flame to it for an early Streamer.
 14.
It's the external pin type. It seems to come loose with even the lightest touch!! You not having that issue?
So there is a pin on the bass and on the strap it has a cup/ring that goes around the pin with a centre button that you pull? I've had no issues with any of my basses regardless of type... other than the nut slowly unscrewing over time (years), which means that every now and again I just give them a nip/tighten with a spanner/pliers.
 15.
Having just bought a Corvette $$, I have a question about the straplocks they provide. It seems that the slightest touch on the end releases the bass from the strap. Am I doing something wrong or should it really be that precarious? It seems only a matter of time before it crashes to the ground mid-gig!!
Which straplocks are they? Warwick do recessed and external 'pin' type but neither should be coming loose easily... I've had Warwick basses 20+ years and even when I jumped about like a loon (a long time ago), they never came undone! Do you have or do you know anyone with a spare strapfitting that you could try so that you can establish if it is that part that is defective?
 16. Is this the earlier slightly heavier version or the later (lighter) model with the Neo sub-driver?
 17.
Gareth, as you know I've owned one or two P basses since getting sucked into the world of BC. Beedsters Kylie, a lovely '74, a very good Jap 70's RI, the TF fretless, a Sadowsky Metro and now the Sadowsky NYC. Hands down my Pino is my favourite by a long shot - yes they are all P basses, and yes some of it is in my head, but its the fattest, warmest most comfortable to play and played with a pick it has a massive presence. Totally my go-to bass. None of the others I've owned have lasted as well. If the house was on fire and I had time to grab one bass - it would be the Pino. I reckon what you have is already great, so you can either try changing pickups to adjust the tone or settle on knowing that you won't be happy until you get a Custom Shop... I have a suspicion that the latter is what you want to hear
... You'll be getting rid of that nasty horrible Sado bass in my direction then!
 18. I should add that I'm only interested in fretted 4 string basses and that a Sterling would also be a consideration.
 19. http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k455/ma...rs/DSC05690.jpg I hope this link works as I'm having trouble with uploading at the moment but basically I have a selection of basses available for trade; x1 fretless Streamer 86 (natural), [s]x1 fretted Streamer 87 (natural)[/s],[s] x1 fretted Streamer 91 (see-thru red high gloss)[/s] and a [s]Fender P bass (for sale on the forum already) with added J pup[/s]. I'm after a downsized and LIGHT weight Precision or Jazz 'style' bass; Sadowsky or similar. I'm obviously not looking to trade all 4 for a bass but cash either way can be worked out if one floats your boat. I can email pics easier than upload them at the minute but I will try and sort that out asap; full details on each bass (pup manufacture etc.) to follow.
 20.
I don't know much about basses but I have been and counted the frets and there are 24. Is this correct? Is it one too many?
I believe you if you say that you've counted 24 but that must be a weird camera angle on the previous pics supplied because it looks all the world like the last fret is missing!
 21.
any idea if they'd drop into a '94 fortress as well as a streamer ?
They'll fit any standard size PJ equipped 4 string... in short yes!
 22. I take it the offer of the MECs is withdrawn? Had these Barts been (dirt) cheap (I realise that they are brand new so it ain't gonna happen ), I'd have put them in my Stage I and nicked the MEC out for my other project... this means that it all gets very confusing for me from here on in!
