1. I noticed this guy some time back and he's developed quite a market for his 'modified' Squier/Fender basses. Essentially he trawls eBay picking up cheap Fender copies then slaps a Fender logo on them (he has never attempted to pass the copies off as the real thing), changes the scratchplate then puts them back on eBay for substantially more than he paid for them. I'm not saying what he does is wrong... other than putting Fender logos on Squier basses but it amazes me how many he sells and folks don't have the sense to look at his buying/selling history and suss out they could make a massive saving by doing exactly the same thing for themselves.
I'm sure there used to be but there isn't now! The OP will need to decide on one in the near future to stop it being pulled as per the forum rules.
4.
... or a bit of cash your way if you have Neil's old bass that has the upgrades.
Sorry, that came to me but was heavier than anticipated so has already found a new owner in the Newcastle area... and he's happy with it!
5. So you're the barsteward who got the Tech cab from under my nose! I had negotiated to buy that cab some time ago, despite my best efforts nothing came of it and my messages went unanswered... now I know why.
6.
The Warwick Infinity 5 string, love those F holes. One day it will be mine. Touch choice between the flamed maple and birdeye top
It has to be Birdseye Maple... even though I still own one of these and I'll never let it go (foolishly sold one of them already), it's just not quite as comfortable (especially weight) as my main bass.
7. My Ltd Ed Streamer.
8. I'm going to go against the flow... Play it in E and play the main riff on the bass inc' the horn section!
9.
'Want me to show you every riff that I copied off Billy Sheehan? - then call this number'
Other than the Muse 'riffing' that was virtually note for note direct from the BS/Talas album - Sink your teeth into that!
10.
Phil - yes that's exactly what I was talking about. I haven't tried adjusting the pup heights because tbh it doesn't seem like one string is any louder than another, but I might mess with it and see what it does. Simon - It does indeed seem like an EQ problem but it must be something onboard. I've noticed it through my amp but I recorded direct and got the same effect. I wonder if I should take this to a Warwick forum and see if anyone else has had this before, but I've never heard of Warwick's pups wearing out or whatever.
Worth posting on the Wick forum BUT as it will likely be guess work and the Warwick forum isn't as busy as here, I think ultimately if it were me I'd see if someone local has a pair of pups that you could drop in and try. I'm not dissing the Wick forum by suggesting that they'd not be able to help but I doubt this is specific to Warwick Thumb basses (not heard of such a thing in the time I've had Warwicks, inc' Thumb basses) and have a feeling that it's likely to be an individual fault (if it has one) that could be found on any bass. This is just a random thought but there isn't a crack in the bass anywhere (neck laminate, fingerboard delamination etc), no loose frets and the nut is flat and secure? I'm just wondering if something physical with the bass might make it leech certain frequencies!
11. ZOOM 9120 ADVANCED SOUND ENVIRONMENT PROCESSOR Excellent condition with original box, power supply and I believe I even have the original manual. Bought new by me and rackmounted from day one; we now have a PA desk with built in effects so this is redundant. £75 * A total of 22 basic effects. They include the reverb effects of Hall, Room, Plate (each with two distinct types), as well as Gate and Early Reflection. Also available are Chorus, Delay and Pitch Shift, plus six other special effects (included in the SFX 1 and 2 settings). * Exceptional high-quality sound, for professional studio recording applications. The reverb sound, in particular, rivals the sound of professional units costing many times more and stands up well to the exacting sonic demands of digital recording. * Extremely intuitive and easy operation. The effect selector dial allows you to instantly choose the basic effect you want while three dedicated Data Entry controls let you instantly edit up to three parameters of the effect at a time. While all effects are of high quality and sophistication, the number of different parameters has been kept to a minimum for greater ease in editing. * Unique and versatile special effects. The 9120 also provides a wide variety of special functions and effects including trigger control over the delay and gate reverb, built-in delay time calculator, "karaoke" effect for filtering out the vocal signal in a music mix, surround simulation, pedal-controlled pitch bend, MIDI-controlled pitch shift, and others. * Extensive MIDI functions. With MIDI you can switch effect programs and make real-time changes in the effect parameters from another MIDI device, such as a keyboard or sequencer. You can also store your original effect programs to a connected MIDI data storage device or to another 9120. Specifications: Frequency Response: 20Hz to 14kHz (Effect) 20Hz to 20kHz (Direct) Dynamic Range: 90dB A/D Conversion: 16-bit stereo with 64 times over-sampling DIA Conversion: 16-bit stereo Input: 2 channels, 1/4", -20/+4dBm Output: 2 channels, 1/4", -20/+4dBm Program Memory: 99 (Programmable) Number of Effect types: 22: Hall 1, Hall 2, Room 1, Room 2, Plate 1, Plate 2, Gate, E/R, Chorus, Chorus w/ Reverb, Mono Echo, Ping Pong Delay, Stereo 2ch Delay, Stereo X Feedback Delay, Stereo Pitch, Pitch w/ Reverb, Karaoke, Surround, Sweep Flanger, Pedal w/ Pitch, MIDI w/ HPS, Hold Delay Control: MIDI IN/OUT; control in Audio input connections: 2 x ¼" jacks Audio output connections: 2 x ¼" jacks Power Requirement: 9VDC, 1A from external adaptor AD-0002 Dimensions: 1u 19" rack mount 482x272x44mm Weight: 2.5 kg
12. At this late stage it's probably too late for you to back out of the lend... but I'm different and if it was me I'd be saying 'cufk it' and let the promoter sort out an amp! I can appreciate that people like to help others out but a shared rig is a fundamental must have if it is that many bands and especially as the bands don't know each other. If I was on a shared billing with a band I knew and I could trust the bassist then I'd probably come to an agreement; otherwise no would do.
13. My 3 main basses. L - R Warwick Streamer 5th Anniversary Ltd Ed, Bolin NS4, Zon Sonus Custom
14. Go on somebody enquire as to how much!
15. This is so funny. If this turns out to have pics confirming all the bits are as described I'll give at least... Ooooh £250 for the bass! Sorry not meaning to extract the urine but this could have been such a simple sale.
16. What does it weigh?
17. That looks like a very tidy job; well done!
18. Still available... I've been using it to transport my Zon Sonus or Streamer bass in as it fits them, so not fussed about pushing the sale but I have other cases that I can use.
19. 2 have sold on eBay recently for £255 (used) and £360 (new) but I'd realistically have expected to get about 50% of the price you paid new; which would be about £210
20. What about the voltage difference?
21.
I'd love that fretless for obvious reasons John! Your old '87 Streamer is my main bass now. I used to own a '00 Streamer NT4 which was lovely but IMO the older ones certainly have the edge.
Glad (one of ) my old basses is getting good use. I had the fretless up for sale but due to the usual Warwick lethargy around at the moment, I withdrew it when I realised that I doubt there can be an early Steamer in as good condition as this one. When the world wakes up to how good Warwick basses are I'll likely put the fretless up for sale as my Ltd Ed Streamer is getting all the love.
22.
From PM's, I can tell you that the PC dragoons are somewhat less appreciative.
Oh dear me! That is sad.
23.
Hi Im going to get some new cabs - my head is a Warwick Profet 5.1 After learning alot from the topic on OHMs ive got two choices Option A - a 2 X15 Peavey cab @ 4 ohms - so could only have this cab Option B - 4 X10 Peavey Cab @ 8 ohms, plus [s]a 1 X15 of some sort[/s] another 4 x10 Peavey Cab @ 8 ohms. would really value your opions for different sounds etc thanks
I fixed that ^ for you! Unless you are playing with a monstrously loud band I'd go for Option C - 2x10 Peavey cab, plus another 2x10 Peavey Cab @ 8 ohms. I've used the Peavey cabs before and the comparison between the 4x10 (or multiples of) and 2x15 is so massive and different it'd do your head in, though the Peavey cabs are cracking value for money. However, a pair of the 2x10 cabs stacked on their side/end makes a portable 4x10 rig that will see off just about any comparable rig for similar money. The tone that you get is totally dependent upon your bass style and technique so trying to tell you how it will sound is likely as not, worthless but I'd be amazed if you couldn't get a decent versatile sound from a pair of vertical Peavey 2x10's.
24. Of course all those folks offering to meet up rather than have stuff posted are secretly hoping to meet one of your models when they collect... however, I'm going to look really silly if you say that it is your wife!
25.
perhaps it got ended early when he came hom from work and spotted pictures of his own bass online
... or someone reading this thread made a sly 'off-eBay' offer. NOT me I hasten to add!
