1.
I could always sell it to you cheap on the basis that I can borrow it back
Shades of Squier CV Jazz rearing it's head!
2. With the smoking ban firmly in place we may never again see this kind of mojo on a bass... http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=644365
3. I REALLY hope someone buys this before tomorrow afternoon; I hate coming away from your place with more than I bargained for... and less in my bank account!
4.
Not yet...I've not got a hard case/shipping carton etc. Maybe later if its still around.. thanks BB
If you don't want to register on the Wick forum, just give me a shout.
5. Do you want this linked to the Warwick forum sale section? If you're prepared to courier to Europe the strong Euro makes this a good price for a European sale!
6. No one could accuse you of gigging for the money... that ReetHCP gig must have cost you a fortune to do! Rest assured I know the story behind this bit of kit/sale and this is a genuine bargain! Speak to you soon M re. getting the rig/bass back.
7.
Good luck with the hunt.
Have I volunteered for something I don't know about!
8. Is the speaker grill secure? Sometimes folk assume the worst when they hear a noise and go looking for the most complicated (expensive) answer, when in fact it can be the mundane and simple; so check everything is screwed down tight!
9. I also remember the name from 'Bassist'... wonder what happened to Gibson Keddie from said mag?
10. Black is far far FAR better than the LPB... IMHO! If I could find one of these DJ's that weighed less than a boat anchor I'd snap it up no matter what colour... well, except blue.
11.
I don't see the point. What's it doing that my Pitchblack isn't ? The Pitchblack being £30 or thereabouts cheaper too. Isn't it just a gimmick ?
Someone who owns a Free/£5 PlanetWaves tuner could well ask the same question of your Pitchblack! What does it do that their Free/£5 tuner doesn't... they all simply give you a reference so that you can tell if your guitar/bass is in tune.
12.
Famous round here is he?
Our friend has lots of history, a lot of it focused on one particular long running incident with a CAR jazz but if you search either his ebay user-name or '2-gnome-attic' you'll find some stuff.
13.
without even looking ... let me guess ..... our good friend tune-o-matic?
... got it in one!
14.
So whats the opinion on this pedal for anyone who has one? Going to go try it out next weekend
I'm sure that there are pedal tuners that do the job cheaper but it's done the job intended and is probably an improvement on my Boss TU12... if it lasts half as long as my old Boss unit I'll be happy!
15.
heres a 1952 "museum piece" Fender for £18 grand Ebay link : Vintage 1952 Fender Slab Body Precision Bass Guitar.
Ah but considering the seller that comes as no great surprise!
16. Crickey moses this is awful! I can appreciate why he's selling the body and neck seperate... if this does belong to a BCer please tell me you didn't 'assist' the aging process! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/All-Parts-Aged-Fende...=item1e5b8a7f5c
17. "WE WILL SHIP THE LEAST EXPENSIVE WAY POSSIBLE." For £51,000 I'd want it chuffin delivered in person! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-1961-Fender-...=item27b10b406f I keep looking at it and thinking/hoping it is a wrong un but for peace of mind I dare say a couple hundred for a plane ticket would be justified.
18. Just realised that the serial number he quoted to me has had the first character changed from a Q on the original sale to a C... I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he misread it and isn't in fact trying to stop someone from ascertaining what bass the serial number actually refers to! In some respects I don't care that he is trying to resell the bass for a profit (he's an online shop) but it's the fact that he's blatantly changing the facts surrounding this bass.
19. The question posed is a bit like asking which is best, an apple or an orange! Not helpful I realise but they are very different beasts, necks will also vary massively depending on the age of the bass. The good thing is that the bridge string spacing has a degree of adjustment so you can make some alterations to get it to your liking. You should be aware that the Streamer NT 5 string is available with a broad-spacing which has a wider nut but this isn't 'that' common and the seller should know about it.
20.
How would you describe the tone of these? Is it the "plunk plunk" of a 60's hollow body, or is it more modern than that?
Not so much of the old 'plunk plunk' as there is a steel tail piece under the bridge facing which couples to the centre block hence a lot more sustain; however, stick a bit of foam in there under the strings and with the piezo on full and no magnetic and you could get a very vintage tone... almost with a fretless kind of tone to it if that makes sense. The mix of mag and piezo, coupled with the B/M/T EQ sliders on the side of the body means that you can get quite an array of sounds out of it!
21. I'm likely to be selling my Yamaha BEX, hollowbody (also has piezo for 'that' sound) so keep your eyes on the for sale section. Not quite a £1k bass but tbh for a couple hundred it'd give a few expensive basses a run for their money!
22. The latest response from the guy (I asked for the serial number)... "This is a genuine Geddy Lee C086833 which was customized by fender. Basically the G & L body would normally be black, it was changed for a jazz bass body as described in advert, by fender because a coloured body was required at the time for a video shoot and the black did not show up well."
23. I asked the guy a straight question; is the bass a genuine Geddy Lee and have the neck and body always been together. Very clever reply - "Genuine MIJ Geddy with Fender fitted jazz body" Now he has said Fender fitted Jazz body but Fender fitted it to what?
24. There can't be that many US JO basses in this colour and I'm sure I saw one recently on ebay... is this the same one?
