1.
Its a Japanese B2 from 1986, the colour is supposed to be 'cream' but its a bit yellow now and has more dings that I remembered.
Yep I had a black sparkle version of your bass. Fond (big hair) memories!
 2.
It may not be a CV, I said 'looks like'. Theres just something not right about it.
tbh the guy's patter is what's not right for me. I suppose a skeg of the serial number would tell you what it 'should' be, from there it should be possible to identify what it is that is flagging up the warning signs for you.
 3. Are you sure that it's a CV bass? It that's the case then he's gone to the trouble (and done a good job) of completely refinishing the back and front of the headstock and he's blended the refin in with the neck! I would say that looking at it, the bass has 4 ply s'plate and a thicker Rosewood f'board than the CV that I had and the covers aren't off a CV. I'm not saying that it isn't a Fender clone or a Bitsa Jazz and his patter does stink but how so sure that it isn't a MIJ/CIJ/MIM? You can always comment/query his youtube vid. 4. Damn! Missed the '5' in the title line as I've always got my eye out looking for the 4 string version of this. Good luck with the sale.
 5.
Is that Warwickhunt's old Sadowsky PJ by any chance? Very nice mate!

I think it might have been mine that I traded with Beedster for his Wal. If it is the same one I got it new early last year from the Gallery.
Why did I have to look at this thread... I miss that bass! Glad you're enjoying it though Dougal.
 6.
oh and I still do ride my bike regardless http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_DgSwMZliM
Loved that bike dogfight! I realise that #285 got some stick from the youtube comments but it looked 'all fair in love and war' to me; he/you gave as good as you got. Bit of a downer that you lost it but it had me hanging off my chair.
 7. A frequent 'subtle' con/ploy to get the unwary thinking that they may be snagging a Fender Custom Shop on the cheap. As usual the seller is clever/honest/tricky enough that he's well covered his backside by clearly telling everyone what it actually is! Only the greedy or foolish would be bidding this up hoping that they might actually get a CS and there are people out there who will be doing just that... we've seen it before
 8.
This one made by Tribal Planet, it's got plenty of pocket space and even a stand on the back of the rear zipper to hold it upright.
I've got one of those gigbags... I now have to buy a Bongo to fit in it!
 9.
It's the shape. You see that 90 degree bit at the tip, and 90 degree bit underneath it? It's a beautiful curve that echoes the top horn of the body. And apparently is a weak spot for paint. I'm sure pointy headed Jacksons suffer from the same thing: there's a *thud*, you've just got too personal with the drum kit. Chip in headstock! Q.E.D. Or something.
I hear what you are saying but surely ANY headstock regardless of outline shape will connect with offending drum hardware and come off with a ding? Not arguing I just think that Bongos seem to get bad press for it when in fact I've yet to see a Lakland DJ without a chip out the headstock! I blame it on painted finishes... say what you like about Warwicks but at least the same dings don't look half as bad on a natural finish.
 10.
Go on - I'll take one of these off you - will you accept paypal? Drop me a PM with the details and I'll arrange a payment
Sorry mate I've already paid for both!
 11.
My old 4 string Bongo was featherweight. Really light. but the 5ers are on the heavey side, as they really are quite massive basses. I don't mind the weight though, never bothers me (as of yet).
It's only 4's I'm interested in but as yet I've not seen one that is under 9.5lb! The physical dimensions of the 4 string Bongo aren't massive, are they... they look smaller then Sterlings or is that a misconception of mine?
 12. 2 questions! 1) Why should the Bongo headstock suffer damage/knocks/dings more than any other 'headed' bass... or is that just a fallacy? 2) Are the Bongo range naturally a bit weighty (i.e. none below 9lb)?
 13. 20-25 years ago (keep me right Howie) I had our very own 'Bass Doc' create me a Jazz style bass (1 piece black walnut body), which had a single pup (really x2 Jazz pups side-by-side a la MM) and a single control... volume. I loved the simplicity and uniqueness of it but after a short time I found that it wouldn't do everything I needed so I had him fit another single Jazz pup in the neck position and added a pan pot and tone control! It was a damn sight cheaper for me to do that than it would for you to mod an already expensive CS bass. Think long and hard before going the Fender CS route.
 14.
Love the headstock design too - it reminds me of the NS Design EUBs :-) Beautiful instrument!
Well spotted! The Bolin 'NS' Bass was indeed designed by non-other than Mr Steinberger himself. What you don't see in the design are some of the subtleties, such as; the body is thicker in the centre than the edges, the neck is bolted on in such a way that the bolts go in at angles to pull the neck in tighter to the body, the bass has an arm that swings out to bring the upper 'horn' closer to the 12th fret balance point and a few others that I tend to take for granted.
 15. I'm in the minority I suppose! I love many of the Warwick (or Spector inspired ) shapes but I'd not thank you for the Thumb SC... HOWEVER; my main gigging bass of the last 3 years has been a SC. Oh and it balances perfectly and clocks in at not much more than 8lb in weight.
 16.
Hmmm... The seller is based in Sherman Oaks. Is this the gnomes-in-the-attic guy again?
Hmmmm, I thought as much looking at the pics, description... and price!
 17.
Well it's certainly mostly there in respect of the parts which won't be seen.
I'm still trying to figure out what kind of fcukwit sands off the finish whilst the bridge and scratchplate are still in place!
 18. Is it? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-1964-Fender-...=item20b019c6f5

 20. Removed the link as a mate is after this bass.... sorry. Hope those that saw it will have the decency to let him have a pop at it.
 21. I'd keep the 5 if I were you... and sell the 4 to me!
 22.
You must be lucky,I've never known any who actually carry gear, unless they are in the band.
VERY lucky! My wife (technically a promoted girlfriend) wraps gear up and carries gear at any gig she attends... in fact she could set-up/strip down my gear no problem.
 23.
There's a way to make more space...... The girlfriend has no need to be there
Sorry got to disagree. A girlfriend (yours or otherwise) is far more useful than a guitard... at least a girlfriend would help carry the gear!

 25. Fender Musicmaster... is it not? <edit> I should add 'wtf do I know as it certainly doesn't have a W on the headstock'!
