1.
So when's the next one?! Are you thinking of replacing the Thunderfunk, or is your interest in the RH450 just a general one?
I'm always open to something being better than what I have... unfortunately not found anything as yet! Good point about the next bash; if it's to be a mini-bash then it's fairly easy to organise, just got to ensure that our resident video/sound recorder is available. Anybody seen WoT lately?
 2.
I just googled the TC amp, and I think its the Classic 450 thats the prices listed above.
Good spot that man! I hadn't even noticed that it was the Classic and NOT the RH.
 3. "notice the head has also pulled forward after leaving it for years under tension" So have I been doing it all wrong these last 30+ years?
 4.
That neck is trucked.. the skunk stripe doesn't look happy at the headstock end either.

As in run over by one? Looks it.
As in rhymes with 'cattle trucked'!
 5.
i would like to point out that was not the case .what trevor does is buys things on inpulse without thinking it through if he actually wants it or needs the bass really. The problem is he has now just got a 79 stingray come and needs to get rid of the basses. If he really thought what he was doing was wrong would he re advitise it on basschat ? .I would want to try and get across he really aint trying to do anyone over .the fender jazz p he has he paid £540 for and he now has it on ebay at a cost of £550 so again hes lost money .but i can also see why people may be concerned anyway many thanks ian. also one more thing he sold hes musicman stingray fretless for £700 to a guy who said he loved the bass the next day its on ebay and still on ebay today but thats life i guess if the guy makes a few quid thats life aint it ? my brother got the money he asked for .But yesterday when i spoke to him he said he wished he would have give MB1 the offer of the bass first at the price he paid .many thanks again everyone
Admirable of you to put those points across Ian. Thing is you really have to get a few backs up to get yourself banned from Basschat... I should know, I've watched some folks try REALLY hard but Trev did it remarkably easily! You say that Trev (is he your brother or did I pick that up wrong?) isn't trying to profit etc. (not that it's anyone's business if he is) and you point out that he's selling things that he bought on impulse. Odd that he should have this particular MM Jazz on eBay for a BIN that would make him little profit, then after this thread points out the slim profit margin he pulls the sale and puts a BIN £100 more than he previously had it up for! It's more about the way you treat folks that matters around here... but please don't hold it against me for pointing this stuff out.
 6. Hmmm prices seem to be coming down quite nicely; RH450 @ £629 - £645 for a brand new one or £589 for an ex-display all available from on-line shops in the UK ... is there about to be a MkII/Updated version released?
 7. Please tell me this is a heavy bass and DOESN'T weigh anywhere near 8lb... as I'd love to have this for nostalgia's sake. Saying that I can't see it fitting in with my latest, 6 man Southern Boogie/Lynyrd Skynyrd project!
 8.
I used my RH450 with a borrowed ZOOT 212 (4ohm 600w) last night, but did'nt cut through the band no matter how I set the eq I had the RH450 on at 1/2 gain and output (not my cab so stopped there, believing that was already way past what should be enough anyway, though it was'nt) The sound of this amp is great, better than great, but i really confused as this cab is highly rated by its owner, who is a good musician Ive not used my Rh450 through any cabs yet, it almost seems it may be an amp problem (I dont own any cabs right now so cant test it through anything else!) The reason for me trying the cab (as for now di into PA is fine with this amp) was to see if in general I liked 12s, hoping to get some aguilars I now dont know what to think, and cant really get around too much to test for sale gear Ahhh, in search of cabs !
I assume your location is 'Daan Sarf'? In which case there may well be a few local BCers who'd maybe want to meet up and try a few combinations out; they might be just as interested to see how your RH450 sounds through their cabs. A few of us 'Ooop North' regularly do stuff like that and organise mini (3-5 man) bass-bashes, if you you don't have a local pub/club/village Hall that you can access free, local rehearsal rooms are reasonably priced. Might be worth starting a thread off about it and seeing what interest there is in your area!
 9. Well at least it wasn't found in the attic... cruise shops don't have attics, do they?
 10. Nice bass and I'd love to find one of these that was the right weight and price for a tight-wad with a dicky shoulder like me! No-one should be made to go to evilbay so I hope you get sorted soon.
 11.
so i guess in the end all he did do was get hes costs back paid £460 then take away petrol new set of Drs /paypal/ebay fees so whats the big deal about him making money again lol
I think his intention was to make a quick profit off as many BC purchases as he could but I don't think he fully took into account the extent of eBay/PayPal fees these days! Saying that, had someone hit his revised BIN he'd have made a tidy profit.
 12. So it eventually sold on ebay for £500... if he's paid £460 for it on BC, then that's not a great business head that our Trev has! 13.
Either way he is sellig a counterfeit item, whether he knows it or not. Surely that must contravene some eBay rules?
eBay are sh1t-hot on counterfeit. However... our buyer would need to have paid for the item, received it THEN go through the process of proving what it is or isn't!
 14.
Well, presumably it'll have 'Made in the USA' on the back...!
Message from the seller; Hi, It has made in the UK on the back. It has a Union Jack and USA flag on the front. Ashdown explain that the parts are British including the case which has the made in UK on it, they are flown out to the USA and built there and returned to the UK. If unsure check it out with Ashdown. Mike. I think the important bit in that reply is "It was made in the UK"! Regardless of the market it is aimed at or the Stars and Stripes flags on it; if it says "Made in the UK" and NOT "Made in The USA", then I'm not certain that they are selling anything different to what Soundslive are selling which they state is "Made in the UK"! 15.
Stunning bass mate! i don't know how you're getting on with yours but mine is superb, i had booked it in to the bass gallery to have it fretted before it had even arrived as i had never really played fretless basses, but since getting it i can't put it down and wouldn't consider getting the job done now! Mine also has the original EMG's but they're very worn, this bass has been played to death. PS: It was my very good friend Dom who bought your '90 Bartolini Humbucker Streamer from you! He's a happy chap! Is this where his money went?!
Part of me was already budgeting to have it fretted before it arrived but I'm loving the mmwwah. And yes, Dom's purchase funded this, which at under 8.5lb is far gentler on my dicky shoulder than the 90 Ltd Ed (which is however a stunning bass, regardless or perhaps because of the weight).
 16.
Although the seller is probably tearing their hair out, after reading some of the doubting comments in this thread
Do you think the seller is a BCer?
 17. My latest acquisition... 86 - Stage I fretless. Many similarities with Ben's bass (Cherry body, Wenge neck, 1 piece bridge etc.) but Ben's bass is the original incarnation with the spade headstock (serial number on the headstock rear) and straight tuners as per the Spector NS basses; whereas mine is subtly different as the headstock shape changed (to avoid the litigation with Spector) and the serial number is stamped top of the headstock with the usual letter prefix/number/year but they hadn't yet moved to the angled tuners or the 2 piece bridge.
 18. Pete's been a busy lad of late! Bought a Warwick from Pete and he was a pleasure to deal with; excellent communications and not a single negative to the experience... other than me parting with money.
 19. As a cheaper alternative there is the AKAI Headrush.
 20.
Well, presumably it'll have 'Made in the USA' on the back...!
My heads done in dealing with Estate Agents so I could do with some diversions; I'll send them that question now.
 21.
Here you go - New distributor deal follows successful launch of Kentucky operation Ashdown Engineering has established a cabinet manufacturing and component assembly operation in Kentucky in order to take advantage of favourable trading conditions in the US, as well as the predilection the US market has for home-made products. The factory will assemble high end Ashdown and Hayden amplifiers and cabs, with the notable difference of utilising Eminence speakers. The switch is due to the Eminence factory being close by and, following extensive development of exactly the right ‘Ashdown’ sound from the speaker maker, making strong economic sense. “Ashdown has been doing about $1 million in the USA and that is simply not good enough for brand such as ours,” commented Mark Gooday, Ashdown’s founder and owner. “With US made products, whole new areas open up for us in terms of marketing and media coverage, as well as the sell through. We are now on the radar here.” Added to this, Ashdown has – from June 1st – switched its US distribution to EMD, a company with which Ashdown has been working in Europe for over ten years. The previous distributor, Power Music, will continue to supply Ashdown to Canada. “We have been building territories with EMD for 11 years now,” said Gooday, “and while it might seem as though we are putting a lot of eggs in one basket, this is a company we trust implicitly. EMD sells, and it sells very well. It’s what the business is built around. Added to that the company’s experience in China, this means we have a distributor in the US that knows how to plan well, put the plan in place, and then work it.” Gooday went on to say how a meeting in Frankfurt with EMD’s newest directorial recruit in the US, Dan Barker, who joined the company from Sabian earlier this year, was the clincher for the deal. “Within ten minutes of talking to Dan I knew this was the right thing to do,” added Gooday. “On top of that, EMD has ten full time reps in the USA and 13 freelance agents – we know the product is spot on, we know the price is spot on, the set up to sell through is just perfect. To have done the whole thing ourselves here would have been too expensive and very stressful. Now we can really light a fire in the US.”
So do we reckon that this is genuinely a USA built amp that has been converted back to UK voltage and reimported for sale, as opposed to a good old fashioned bit of cr4p being trotted out by a shop... a bit of a weighted question so I guess you know which side of the fence I might be sitting on.
 22. The following statement is taken directly from an eBay Music Shops listing. Ltd Edition US Built Amp Ashdown Klystron 500 Bass Head "Proudly built in the the Ashdown factory in Kentucky, USA, the Classic Series is Ashdown’s flagship bass amp range. Comprising of Klystron heads, a selection of cabinets and a range of 500-Watt combos, the Classics are about doing everything better – more volume, more dynamics, an extended frequency range and greater versatility. These are Limited Edition USA built Klysrton amps, normally built in the UK Ashdown have brought in a few specially built US built amp and cab models to satisfy customer requests. They are 230 volt models suitable for use in Europe and the UK. The 575-Watt Klystron 500 head features Valve Drive this routes the signal either through a clean Solid State amplification section (control on zero) or through a Dual Triode Tube amplification/overdrive section in order to add either tonal character and this is where the US feel and tone will kick in giving the US model a bit more North American umph. US Ltd Edition Ashdown Classic range Klystron 500 Head - 575 watt RMS Bass Amp" I might have the wrong end of the stick here but it seems very odd for Ashdown to manufacture an amp in the USA and then ship it back to the UK for retail; especially as I'm sure this 'Classic; amp is already manufactured and retailed in the UK... to the exact same specs and livery. This retailer certainly seem to be clearly indicating that this is manufactured in the USA (even stating Kentucky to be precise) and is 'different' from the UK model. Any Ashdown experts that can confirm/deny this eBay stores claim? 23.
I won't have the money for a little while yet
Only looking for £45 which is probably as cheap as buying a replacement footpedal/hand-held tuner! Oh and it is actually the Korg DTR2
 24.
I'll take a look now, thanks! I'm just after a reliable bass tuner I don't need flashy extra lights to call in a mothership!
I have a Korg rackmount tuner which will be available for sale in a week or two... it's the reliable one without the bells and whistles!
