1.
JB is sold , payment pending !! Bump for the PB how about a reasonable offer ??
Damn! If only you hadn't added 'reasonable'!
  2. I'm sure others do it but I know that Peavey used to do a decent size wedge shaped combo, that takes the idea of tiltback one step further and makes a lot of sense if you are using it purely for on-stage monitoring.
  3. Even if it is so unloved, is it not worth just keeping it out and in regular use; as that is the best way to ensure that it stays in good condition? As for your bass... In all seriousness I'd not stick it away in a case and forget about it, best to just keep it around the house to noodle on. If it really offends you to have it around the house then ebay will be your best bet. BTW what is it?
  4. It's been a LONG time since I've had a Ray but it had to be done. I'm really surprised at how much more than a one trick pony it can be, especially with flats on. My past experiences with Rays left me cold as I just couldn't seem to get away from that aggressive upfront tone, wonder if it's me, the strings or the bass that has changed (3 band rather than my old 2 band, though I've not been tweaking the EQ much on the bass)? I do have to confess I was holding out for a 2005 'Buttercream' Sterling or a really tasty sunburst Sterling but as this was local I went for it... now has anyone got a Sterling to trade?
  5. Did you get anything done with the Sterling or have I missed a thread on it somewhere else?
  6.
The A team or Peaches. Peaches always sorts out the people who know what's good from the people who don't.

my drummer loves that song peaches, we also used to do lump in a prevvious band together
That threw me as I suddenly realised that in the past I've regularly covered at least 3 songs called Peaches... and all of them good songs in their own right! Presidents of the USA The Stranglers Prince (OK that one doesn't have an 'es' on the end ) So which one was it Owen?
  7. DR Sunbeams... not cheap but after the initial freshness has gone they last for ages, so can be as cost affective as cheapies.
  8. Two bands... originals and a covers band. Saying that, if the covers band falls apart you really are going to feel like shyte!
  9. If it's to check the bass I usually just groove some 12 bar funk stuff in E and ascend through the scale nice and easily so that the sound guy gets a spread of the instruments tone... saying that sometimes 4 notes in and you get the thumbs up... mainly cos he has a default setting for bass I assume! As a band we have a disposable song that we are all comfortable with, hence if you play it at every soundcheck then at least you know how it 'should' sound.
  10. Don't forget to pack a multitool... shameless plug!
  11. I'd want to see a few more high res pics before I pulled the trigger... I realise that one looks mint but I've seen a few going for 1/2 that price and I couldn't swear that they were the MkI model; is there much difference between models?
Now if Joe can sell his 5 string Thumb project he could get this!
... or he could buy a bass to use as trade bait with you Josh!
  13. DOH! Even I came back and looked at this.

  15.
Just thought I'd ask for opinions on these amps n cabs. Purely because the other day I heard a Stingray through one of these setups and it was awesome. The GK1001 RB-II seems to be ridiculously loud and punchy and such a decent price!!! I was looking into their neo 212s and they seem to be getting a lot of praise. Hmm...
I've had a bunch of GK amps (never 'that' impressed with their cabs) and as you say they all punch well above their rating; possibly to do with the voicing on them that has a bit of a mid bias. I'm sure you already know but don't ever think that because you hear someone playing xyz bass through abc rig that you will sound like that! Pop along and catch Howie 'Bass Doc' gigging his old PJ Fender through a GK1001 and an old 2x15 EV (or is it JBL) cab and then try and see what sound YOU make if you try and play his set-up... never quite sounds the same!
  16. I love the fact that it is 'NEW' despite being a bitsa bass and now onto at least it's 2nd owner... trade descriptions anyone?
  17.
...too enigmatic, innit Howdy, John! BTW
Hope the amp and you are still going strong Sean?

    SOLD

    What does this weigh?
  21. Yes, be aware those Jamerson's are not only 110's but being flats they have a lot more mass to them and they are like ship's hawsers!
  22.
Here's mine, freshly racked with a Crown power amp bridged at 100watts. Mmm...
Bridged at 100w... Shirley not!
  23.
... & 2006 black/green interior MusicMan LE hard case.
Now I know I'm getting old Rich but even I can see that the interior of that case isn't green!

Hope you don't mind but I flagged it up on the Warwick forum (with a link) to see if any of them are interested.
  25.
Yes, its been a 'spare' for a while now so I decided to cash it in. I've effectively got a second rig to sell, H&K 600 plus Eden 1x15. I would consider px with a Status Graphite fretted Jazz neck. How's the Thunderfunk, is your reply going to give me more GAS? cheers Fran
Hmmm is my TF reply going to give you 'more' GAS Fran? Well, I've personally A/B'd the TF against the best that HK (BB600), Aguilar (DB750), Mesa Boogie (M-Pulse), MB (SA450 +LMK), TC Electronic (RH450), Warwick (Pro-tube IX) and a fair few others have to offer and I'm still holding onto it; closest to give it a run for its money was a Glockenklang Bass Art but that ran out of steam at gig level. If you get the chance to try a TF just leave the EQ flat and if it doesn't 'quite' do it for you, just give the Timbre & Enhance controls a tweak... sonic nirvana for me! I have to confess when you were listing your HK rig on eBay a couple of years ago, I watched it and returned time and again, considering pulling the trigger but 'size matters' these days.
