1.
It is interesting what you say, and you may well be right but I have had a Pro II and moved it on as it wasn't a patch on this one, the neck on the proII i had looked like maple and the neck profile wasn't as good, this one is a darker wood and needs waxing. This is a far better quality than the II I had, so I really don't know what to think.
I'm not disputing that some basses will be better than others but the Pro I 'v' Pro II question isn't really an issue as the Dolphin Pro I bass is, and always has been a neck-thru instrument and the designation Pro II has always been attributed to the bolt-on neck basses. The 'I' and 'II' marker was to differentiate between NT & BO basses not to differentiate between a mkI (earlier) or a mkII (later) bass. If you've owned a pair of BO neck Dolphin basses then you've owned a pair of Pro II basses. You'd be right in thinking that the Pro II is a stonking bass, in fact the reason that they stopped producing them was because they were financially a nightmare for Warwick and they gave the Pro I NT bass a good run for it's money.
 2. When you bought this in 2008 had it already been modded with the J pup?
 3.
My main bass is a warwick Dolphin Pro 1, in a painted black/red finish (see my acatar), it has a bolt on neck and two J pickups. It has one of the thinnest Warwick necks I have ever played and has a fabulous growl. I have never seen another one like it with that configuration. Does anyone know anything more about this. It isn't the Japanese Series 2, it is a German made pukka Warwick, and I was once told it was a special order and quite pricey. Any info would be gratefully recieved
It's actually a Dolphin Pro II bass that you have, Pro I basses are NT basses. If it happens to say Pro I on the truss rod cover then someone has retrofitted it at some stage in it's life. When they originally tried to introduce these in 90/91 the production wasn't 'in-house' but was subcontracted to a German company, however Warwick weren't happy with QC and I don't think they ever went into full production. Production was immediately moved to Japan where they were produced as your bass is with JJ pups and there were a variety of colours, I can't recall ever seeing a natural finish bass (no CS as there was no such thing in the Japanese production) and I don't think I've seen too many red/black basses. As you say they are a lovely bass and the necks are significantly slimmer than virtually any of the later BO basses. What year is your bass? <edit> I was asking about the year as I can't recall if these basses ceased production in the 90's or if they managed to continue into the next Millennium.
 4. 'Unfortunately' for the seller he'll be lucky to get away with stating "Unfortunatly I can only accept cash on collection from Chorley, Lancs for this item."... if someone wants to pay via paypal, he can't stop them!
 5. Is the Sadowsky Dave Wilson's old bass? If it is then that bass was a very good example by all accounts... saying that I don't think I've heard of a duffer!
 6.
Does anyone have any experience of fanned frets, is there much of a learning curve?

Those who have tried a Super J can probably tell you that it is very easy and immediate to get used to the fanned frets. You barely notice it.
I've never tried one of these but I would love and I'd probably have had a punt at this and bought blind but at this kind of price it'd have to be in my fav colour/livery and that'd have to be 'burst with tortie! Best of luck with the sale though.
 7.
If the item is in Ramsgate, Kent, why is the listing in Spanish? (It's been a long week and I'm not very bright!)
Fede was looking at it on the Italian ebay site; here's the same (sold ) item on UK. 8.
I've always wondered where it shows how many people are watching an item ... can anyone tell me?

there's a hit counter at the bottom of the page - it's at 49 as I type
Only the seller can tell how many people have it 'marked' for watching; otherwise as Steve says the counter at the bottom tells you how many hits the listing has (not all listings have them as it is optional).
 9.
Hi guys look at this! http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...=STRK:MEBIDX:IT only 31 viewers and only one offer! this auction is worth a shot I suppose. I can't afford it at the moment, waiting for the future to buy this fantastic piece of kit! cheers, Fede
Surely if these are £145 new then even if you win it with the next bid, @ £112 + P&P for a used one that doesn't sound like a mega deal! I'd wait till you have the cash and these'll probably be £110 NEW.
 10.
This bass used to be mine and also Mark (Bassaussie) owned it for a few months as well. I sold it to WaveyDavy and then somehow it's got to you.
I can fill in a bit more history as I almost bought this from Dave (eubassix), so there's another bit of the jigsaw.
 11. My 89 Streamer Stage I doesn't flare out or thicken up much as you go up the neck, my Zon is similar; from memory are Rics fairly slim? I suppose ultimately you need to look at string spacing at the bridge; a bass with skinny bridge spacing is going to have a narrower neck.
 12. Don't think 3 piece! I play in a 3 piece and below is our set lists for tomorrow night. This isn't meant to be an indication of what you 'should/could' cover but if you look through I doubt you'd find much by any 3 piece band... Salisbury Hill & Boys of Summer are good fun as a 3 piece! Set 1 1 Use Somebody 2 Walk this Way 3 Violet Hill 4 Ain’t Talkin’ bout Love 5 The Story 6 Satellite 7 Sidewinder Sleeps 8 Salisbury Hill 9 Cryin’ Set2 1 Learn to Fly 2 No One Knows 3 Good Riddance 4 Livin’ on a Prayer 5 Jack & Dianne 6 Crazy 7 Valerie 8 Boys of Summer 9 Peaches 10 All These Things That I’ve Done 11 Sex on Fire 12 Crazy Train 13 She 'kin Hates Me
 13.
Larrrvley ! I always regret passing on a fretless 5 (unlined) one of those. Andy
That'll have been a later Infinity bass Andy; very similar in overall shape and pup lay-out etc but not the same as these were only ever made as 4 string fretted versions and they were limited to a number somewhere between 100-220... depending on who you believe!
 14. Warwick Streamer Corvette (Infinette) 1991 Ltd Ed x2
 15. I have to say, I'd be quite happy to gamble your money on that... wouldn't put my money up against receiving the Ovation in the picture but then again someone else's money is a different matter!
 16.
Would like to be there, and will try - but babysitters are as rare as unicorn droppings round here at the moment...
No worries, if you do get along just give me a shout... I'll be the one with a bass!
 17. What was the original scratchplate like on these; was it white originally?
 18. More 3 piece weird fishiness from me and my mates. The Royal Tavern Blyth Northumberland 21:15 - till late.
 19.
For me the answer was EBS (my grateful thanks to Bernie G) I have an EBS Gorm ET350 combo for rehearsing and smaller gigs (not so light ), for big gigs (and to put the guitarist in his place ) I use EBS HD350 head, EBS Proline 2000 2x10 & 1x15, perfect compliment to my Status 5 string, oh, and a Line 6 M13 stompbox Mr. Quiet
By definition the title of this thread must preclude the best part of your rig!
 20.
Pretty thing indeed. Shame its not original. That bridge stands out a mile.
I prefer it... but then again I'm not gonna spend £2k on a 35 yr old bass!
 21. I see that he's letting the pictures do the talking! <edit> The pups are the significantly cheaper EMG 'selects'... iirc they are also passive.
 22.
Found this guy on Ebay, selling 3 packs of strings.
Yep, look through his feedback and you'll see a few usernames that may be familiar to BC regulars!
 23.
Thought that might be the case John. Does the ratio of output watts to impedance vary with manufacturer? Seems some suggest a 100% increase in O/P for a 50% cut in impedance (e.g., a 300w amp into 4 shoves out 150 into 8), whilst with others it seems more complex? Is there any sure way of knowing apart from the manufacturers specs?
From first hand observations it seems to vary between every manufacturer but as a rule of thumb I've tended to knock a 1/3 OP off when going to 8 ohms; though saying that if your cab is sensitive it can appear to make little difference and it is debatable as to whether you'd hear the difference between 300 & 400 watts any way!
 24. Answering #2 - if 4 ohms gets you 600w, it's likely to put out closer to 400-450w @ 8 ohms. There is a 50w discrepancy as on the face of it, you'd think it would be a simple mathematical calculation but I've yet to see a standard equation for working it out; as a rule it's normally about 2/3... sometimes + a bit! Still a healthy output.
 25.
Which sub did you go for in the end. I want an ART905S but I don't have the required £1000 to buy one.
We bought a pair of RCF 522s and a single RFC 705as. We had the opportunity of a pair of bins but tbh it would be overkill for pub gigs!
