1.
I'm having a bit of a New Year's 'tidy up' of my bass collection. I'm currently standing at nine basses & I simply don't have enough time to play them all so I'm going to start thinning them down a little
So how's about keeping all of these fivers and selling the odd 4 string?
 2.
Cool! But you didn't say where your next gig is - other than "Blyth", which is a big ole town!!
Good point! The Royal Tavern 16-01-10. 'Possibly' the smallest pub known to gigging bands but generally a good gig.
 3.
What's the Thunderfunk like? I was looking at their website last night. What a lovely piece of equipment (oh, and a stunning price-tag too! Are they worth it?).

you can get acoustic mats to put under your rig if you want to get rid of boominess. Oldgit told me of these as he uses one called a GRAMMA pad.
If we get the chance to catch up you can find out what a Thunderfunk played through a pair of speakers of identical size, placed upon a GRAMMA pad sounds like... as that's my rig, that is!
 4. How did the 'rig' sound Andy and just out of interest, what bass or basses were used?
 5. I'm off to complain to my optician as my eyes must be better than he says as I can see two joins in the body of that bass!
 6.
I think you're getting me mixed up with someone else...
... and that can't even be me!
 7. Rivera have a reputation up there with Mesa Boogie in the guitar world... can't see why a guitarist would need a power amp that big though!
 8.
new scenario i booked the item with interparcel service interlink 3...gets there next day at or before 3...beats the opposition by 2 hours it gets picked up from me on tuesday 12:00 noon arrives in tamworth...which is south and the item is going north...at 22:00...scanned in still in and we are past the 15:00 next day service deadline interestingly the headquarters of interlink is close to tamworth...west midlands the item is going to aberdeen
What's the bets that you can't make a claim for not delivering as per the contract because there's some small print that mentions 'weather conditions' or 'seasonal variation (Christmas)'!
 9. Heck of a lot of cab for not a huge wedge of money!
 10. I'm based not far from the Toon and I'm using Aguilar 1x12 cabs but unfortunately I don't have any gigs coming up in or near the city centre, so it'd be tricky for you to hear what is possible with a pair of 1x12's and no PA support (I'm assuming that's the style of gig you'll be doing initially). My next nearest gig to you is in Blyth in mid January if that is any good?
 11.
Bollocks! Too slow...
Sorry big lad... collected from my door and a done deal!
 12. Absolute pleasure dealing with Owain. No false promises or messing about about; Owain simply asked the price, had a think about it, then got back to me and arranged to come and have a look. How all transactions should be done! Thanks again and I'll catch you @ the next bash or maybe even Moffat!
 13.
So, as luthier told me, it seems that my bass truss rod has an injury, that actually came from factory - it's due to bad construction of neck and stuff...
Is the bass you are discussing one in your signature; Ibanez SR1005EWN Prestige or Ibanez GSR205 BK? Ibanez are normally pretty good for their QC and even on their cheapie basses I've not heard stories of basses leaving stores with duff T rods (always a first mind). Even if the bass has a duff rod your luthier should be able to sort it out, it's rare for a bass neck to be wrecked just because the T rod doesn't adjust (unless it's come through the fingerboard or badly deformed/twisted the neck).
 14.
http://s61.photobucket.com/albums/h44/pant...yke%20Disciple/ I don't know a huge amount about the Aria range... I have seen pictures of the Steve Bailey custom ones before, and was sure that the Aria text on the headstock was vertical, written under the strings, with his signature under it, rather than horizontal and small like it is. I know it's minor, but wondered if maybe this is a regualr Avante model rather thanthe signature (is there such a thing). Lookin at price it seems a bit high for a bass that retailled aroundthat price new... But I love the look of it. Shep
Nice Godlyke Disciple... but not an Aria!
 15. If anyone has a spare Thomastik or LaBella G string let me know and I'll buy it from you!
 16.
Undo the truss rod nut by turning to the left (lefty loosey, righty tighty helps me remember which way).
ALMOST always correct (99%) but watch out for the 1% that has the truss rod installed incorrectly or that works counter intuitively! I'm speaking from experience with some of the earliest Warwick rods (even a couple I owned from 1990) which were notorious for working the opposite to the 'righty- tighty, lefty-loostey' method, my Infinette has the rod installed the 'opposite/wrong' way.
 17.
What do you guys think this should be worth then? I have emailed the seller with an offer and got a reply saying he will accept it. Just want to see if my offer is fair (from my perspective) before i actually commit to it.
Surely if you've made an offer then the offer must be fair from 'your perspective' as you generated the figure! If people on here say it is worth £xxx or £xxxx will you go back and revise your offer? If you do and you offer less the seller isn't going to be impressed and if folks say it is worth more, then it'd be very gentlemanly of you to revise your offer up over.
 18. No confusion on my purchase of Benedict's BEX bass; top guy to deal with and all good and proper as it should be, bass was exactly as described. Cheers Benedict.

Not sure if they are a user of said instruments or involved in some more direct way.
 20.
Hi I own a trace elliot t bass. Just wondering what the general opinion of these basses are and how much they generally go for on the market. I bought mine from new back in 1996. Its the one designed by status with the ergonomic headstock.
Opinion... Only ever tried two; one was nice the other awful. Just 'one' opinion of two basses! How much do they go for... £400 - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...ace+elliot+bass £575 - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...ace+elliot+bass £350 - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...ace+elliot+bass £550 - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...ace+elliot+bass
 21. Just to clarify; I'd only be interested in 4 string trades and I'd not be interested in any bass that exceeds 9lb in weight.
 22.
Interesting! I've never heard TE described as distorted!! Maybe the gear your rehearsal place has is knackered? Mine were old (ca 1986) and never sounded distorted - at least to MY ears!
There's 'distortion' and there's 'DISTORTION'! Basically all amps produce a degree of distortion but what JL was referring to isn't the type you equate with overdriven guitars/basses that can either be an effect or an amp being mistreated/abused/dying. It's more a level of distortion that is very subtle and is produced as a result of the components used in the construction. Better quality amps use purer components that produce less distortion and newer equipment is generally better again. The form of distortion JL refers to is inherent in all amps and generally manifests itself as a softening of the tone which many of us like.
 23.
Yes they were all rather lovely but that orange one with the P/J configuration was cream of the crop for me ...luverly.
That was the original 'Pumpkin' Helloween bass and as it was in need of tlc when I got it I had it refinished thus... the Helloween fan I sold it to now has the pics from me to restore it back to the original colour sceme/artwork!
 24.
It finally got here! After 62 days from ordering date to deilvery, I present to you my new Ernie Ball Music Man 25th Anniversary 5 strings HSS model (Humbucker / Single / Single)
You having a party to celebrate? <edit> I see the 'ladys' are well catered for!
