Hmmm if you declare earnings to the tax man etc does that then affect things like car/house insurance etc?

Another +1 for those Hartke strings... in fact if anyone wants to give them a try I bought a bunch of 4 & 5 string sets a while back, drop me a PM and yours for what I paid for them. If you've already tried them don't be greedy, let someone else try these ones!

I realise you've said that a 4x10 may be too big but if you are going down the larger combo route and TE appeals... I have a mate who is likely selling a TE 4x10 combo with a full flightcase (which has casters and should you not need it you could sell that on as it is a pretty expensive bit of kit, though he isn't bumping the price up to cover it). I'm not sure of the wattage but IIRC it is about 250w. To add to the general vagueness of my contribution; I'm not sure exactly how much he wants for it but it may well be a lot less than you were expecting to pay (i.e. £250-£400). Shameless plug for mates gear aside... I'd also suggest looking at some of the Peavey stuff. It's bomb-proof and the tone is very good though massively overlooked in place of things with loads of bells and whistles. If you can find a good used 'Databass' combo (1x15 and iirc 400w; remember volume can go down as well as up, so you don't need to use it all ), you'd be hard pushed to do better than that.

IIRC the $$ is one of the few Warwick basses that is truly passive if the batteries die, so the bass will still operate if the active circuit is defunct. However, it would be unusual for the preamp to fry for no reason (have you been trying to do any mods on it?), I'd be more inclined to think that there might be a wire loose or a dry solder joint somewhere. Look for any solder points that look different to the rest; i.e. a very shiny joint if the rest are dull, then resolder that point. If you aren't too confident with soldering/DIY work, then it shouldn't be a huge job for a tech to fault-find the problem.

I've had a couple Bi-amp rigs (GK800RB was a classic example) and tbh when put through bog standard bass cabs, imho they sounded better run full-range.

The DB112 is a great cab and not a monster for weight but unless you 'pump iron' or are built like a proverbial brick sh*thouse, I'd not recommend travelling by train/tube carrying the cab [u]by itself[/u] let alone with a bass and/or amp!

I also think you'll find that ebay and paypal (and gumtree) are one and the same. re. your point over offering cheque payment as an option; this is perfectly acceptable BUT you can not preclude paypal as an option and to only offer cash on collection is an automatic termination of your listing 'if they spot it'.

As a DB owner I'd agree with the guys above. One handed lifting is OK, I can carry one in each for short distances but doorways are inconvenient; however a cab in one hand and something less bulky in the other is fine... and the handles are stronger than you'd imagine.
