Those HK basses are listed regularly on eBay (so don't dive in too quickly) but no idea of quality.
Hi I have a fender squier Precision Bass - Serial Number JV11324 - sunburst. This was bought in the early 80's when our bass player left and I had to play bass instead for our pub band (instead of guitar). The Bass in in pretty good condition and has only been played at home on rarae occasions as I've reverted back to 6 string lead. I understand the JV versions are better quality than more recent versions but would anyone know what this would be worth if i deceided to sell?
Be prepared for the breadth of suggestions you'll get. There'll be the prospective buyers who'll try and suggest £200, the realists who'll say £300 - £400 (depending upon condition) and then there'll be the owners of JV's or the strangest group... the spoilers, who just want to ensure someone doesn't get something that they can't afford, saying that they reckon £500 - £1000 is more realistic. You'll also get the links to various eBay JV basses (I'd be surprised if someone [likely a collector type] doesn't link to a known 'Joker' in Germany) but the most honest way to do it is to look at past completed sales on Basschat (use the search function), that should give you a realistic price. Oh and I'll give you £100 for it if you like.
Do you know if this would fit a 94 CIJ 72 reissue jazz? I see it hasn't got the hole for a screw between the neck pickup and the neck... but if the other holes line up it's no big deal!
I 'really' don't know! I can draw around the scratchplate as a template, scan it and post that up if you like. You could then print it off actual size (A4) and see if they lined up. The additional extra screw hole shouldn't matter as this is 4 ply and not about to warp or twist.
Thats a bargain!! I've seen ex factors go for £800 - £1100, I wouldn't sell mine for £600. Quality wise its way better than a Musicman, If I were buying a backup for it I'd happily pay £750-£800 and wouldnt think twice about it IMHO. I watched a key factor go on ebay for £800 recently too. I think due to how rare they are and the unique hardware, electronics, look and feel £650 is a VERY fair price. If I managed to get round to putting up soundclips it would have been sold.
Unfortunately we can all quote high and low examples of certain basses but it is no guarantee that anything will achieve what a buyer expects. The ex-Factor bass example you give can also get little/no interest at all... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT The reserve/BIN of £800 obviously scared buyers of that example. If you are certain that soundclips will secure you a sale, it's surely got to be worth doing hasn't it? There's a buyer for every bass... you just need to find them.

What you see is what you get. A pair of each female XLR to single phono adapter and a pair of male XLR to... not sure what you call them they are spring loaded wire crimps I suppose! They are ideal if you need to adapt or make something up on the spur of the moment i.e. gig emergency. The spring loaded clamps are plenty strong enough to hold wire/cable for use in a desk etc. Obviously being Neutrik they are a quality component. I found examples as cheap as £5 each inc postage on eBay, list price is over a tenner each though they average £7 per item online. I'd like £10 inc UK postage, for all 4.

This is what it says on the Fender site... Fender® Gold and Platinum Bass cables are carefully engineered using proprietary technology and manufacturing methods to bring you vastly better sound quality, and a better musical experience. You will notice more information coming from your bass and amp, particularly in the area of overtones, and more complex tonality. You will get more of what your bass is capable of, and this will make playing much more enjoyable. Fender Gold and Platinum Bass cables use superior grade 99.99% purity OFC copper conductors that will give you better clarity and more natural sounding bass tone. Two large solid core bass conductors result in fuller, deeper, more extended bass response and this is combined with four groups of smaller gauge stranded conductors that give better mid-bass and upper-bass response. This gives the best possible full-range bass performance with no loss of nuance or tonality. The precision formulated polyethylene dielectric material results in stronger signals that yield better definition and impact of lower frequencies, and more natural sounding bass. The Fender Gold and Platinum Bass cables are also double shielded to provide maximum isolation from electromagnetic and radio frequency interference. It's an instrument lead/cable! £30 from Soundslive, £40 from Dolphin Music or £15 + £2 postage for this barely used example from me.

I've not had this a great length of time (no smart ar5ed comments from the regulars please ) but the Sadowsky is literally getting all of the use and for a completely alternative bass my other option is the Bolin... so this is gathering dust (as evidenced in the headstock pic ). It has Bartolini pups and a retro-fitted Bartolini pre. The bass is in very good condition with one small ding through to the wood but no nasty bucklerash etc. The neck frets etc are all spot on and as with most Zons there isn't even need for a truss rod as the neck doesn't budge. I'd not be adverse to a trade but it would need to be for something interesting/different, so sorry no Squiers, MIM Jazz Yamaha RBX etc. I'm not adverse to adding cash to a deal if your bass is priced right. I'm not in any great hurry to shift this (in fact after plugging it in just now I'm gonna gig it tonight for a change... unlikely to be any interested parties in Rowlands Gill I suppose ). Shoot me any offers via PM.
Are the Comfort Strapps the bouncy thngs?
The Sadowsky straps are a nice compromise between the Comfort/Bouncy neo straps and the wide solid leather straps. Just be aware the short length one, even when fully extended, is pretty damn short (works great with my Bolin but it's under my chin with the Sado bass)!

Aside from the above (and various other factors), the rating on most cabs is a load of shyt so you can to some degree almost ignore it. As has been stated above you will 'hear' when things aren't right. There are folks on here who will run 200w amps into 1000w cabs and there are folks who will run 1000w amps into 200w cabs and I can assure you they can both be done quite safely; if you use common sense and your ears! Conversely there are folks here who can destroy a cab and/or an amp that is supposedly perfectly matched.

NORTH EAST BASS BASH - NOVEMBER 2009 - PICS & VIDEO ADDED!
warwickhunt replied to wateroftyne's topic in Events
I make that about 13/14 bodies! -
Mmmmm Bongo... another bass I will eventually own. Not sure which pup config' I'd like but it will definitely be in this colour. Unfortunately there's a lot of stiff competition in this (and slightly less) price band, so I may be letting my funds burn a bigger hole in my pocket until I can find one a smidgen cheaper. Good luck with the sale as I'm sure the Sado will be worth it.
Is this a bad price or something?
Seeing as you've asked... When something isn't selling it can generally be rectified by lowering the price until it becomes an offer too good to be refused. Whether someone does that or thinks 's*d it, I'd keep it rather than go that low' is up to the individual. I have to say that there would be a price that I'd be interested in this bass but unfortunately it hasn't reached it yet.
Thanks for that - I've just had the equivalent of a fret-stoning, so on we go - 'Bop till yer drop'.
Oooof don't even joke! I'll add my best wishes to you getting back to 'Rocking' fit asap Howie.
Odd. I had an official MM Sterling case that I picked up from Shockwave and that definitely fitted his Stringray too. Perhaps my case was an older version or something - that said, the Sterling body is significantly smaller than the Stingray.
I received this case (big deep 'Musicman' logo moulded into the case) with a Sterling inside and it only stayed with me as the deal I struck at the time meant that relative values indicated that I kept the case... but it is defo moulded internally for a smaller Sterling body!

Hard lacquer/paints may well protect your instrument from stains and sweat etc but when it takes a knock it still dints just the same as a waxed finish but the difference is the waxed finish can easily be remedied at home by the average owner. Lacquered/painted finishes start to chip and flake and this can look very tasty (relic'd) but it still looks 'damaged'. I've owned Warwick waxed basses for 20+ years and most have withstood knocks as well as any poly finished bass... adding the caveat that some of the present woods used are a lot softer than the well seasoned woods used in the past!
