Found this guy on Ebay, selling 3 packs of strings.
Yep, look through his feedback and you'll see a few usernames that may be familiar to BC regulars!

A couple of questions re Mesa Boogie combo options
warwickhunt replied to Beedster's topic in Amps and Cabs
Thought that might be the case John. Does the ratio of output watts to impedance vary with manufacturer? Seems some suggest a 100% increase in O/P for a 50% cut in impedance (e.g., a 300w amp into 4 shoves out 150 into 8), whilst with others it seems more complex? Is there any sure way of knowing apart from the manufacturers specs?
From first hand observations it seems to vary between every manufacturer but as a rule of thumb I've tended to knock a 1/3 OP off when going to 8 ohms; though saying that if your cab is sensitive it can appear to make little difference and it is debatable as to whether you'd hear the difference between 300 & 400 watts any way! -

warwickhunt replied to Beedster's topic in Amps and Cabs
Answering #2 - if 4 ohms gets you 600w, it's likely to put out closer to 400-450w @ 8 ohms. There is a 50w discrepancy as on the face of it, you'd think it would be a simple mathematical calculation but I've yet to see a standard equation for working it out; as a rule it's normally about 2/3... sometimes + a bit! Still a healthy output. -
Which sub did you go for in the end. I want an ART905S but I don't have the required £1000 to buy one.
We bought a pair of RCF 522s and a single RFC 705as. We had the opportunity of a pair of bins but tbh it would be overkill for pub gigs!

Hmmmm! am I just suspicious by nature?
On the subject of the neck.............from what can be seen of it, it looks VERY like the neck on my 77 Ray . If the pick up is original, could the control panel / pots be original ?? If so, well worth £200, in fact a positive steal, and wacking into a nice Warmoth body !!! S
Some of the parts are original and the neck does have a value but bids were pulled that indicate folks were prepared to pay big money... in which case some fools may still think it is all MM and bid £1000+ -
I did look at HK stuff, in the same price range as the RCF kit we were looking at, it didn't impress like the RCF stuff did. If we were prepared to double our budget on the other hand, some of the HK kit was ace, but at a price.
We had the same dilemma/views. Ended up getting nearly new RCF powered tops and a single RCF bin; unfortunately, out of the OP budget!
Yup I think we've seen it before too quite a while back. Different pics this time - I remember it standing up the way.
I agree, I recall seeing this one. However, this is a newly registered user so I wonder if it is a scammer copying an earlier listing (idiot could have at least copied a proper MM) or if it is the same guy using a different account as he doesn't want to sully an account that he has, that has decent feedback (you can legitimately have 2 accounts)! -
He does sound genuine but you can never tell. Interesting spelling. . .
SNAP! <edit> and interesting retracted bids! -

I wouldn't buy it based upon the fact that his spelling is getting worse by the minute... Oh and before you shoot me down, he doesn't suffer from Dyslexia, he's either plain lazy or wishing to appear dumber than he actually is, which matches in with his tack of; "I don't know what I have"! However you can 'deside'. <edit> How ironic... edited for a typo! -

"cheers for that but like i said in m write up i know nothing about guitars and if you have noticed about it then im sure others have too. kind regards eith" So he's not going out of his way to clear matters up! -
Plenty cheap power amps and desks available. I'd suggest getting an amp that would appear to be a lot larger (powerful) than your present needs suggest. Some of the Yamaha desks with built in effects and one knob compression are pretty damn good. We've recently gone the route of powered speakers which aren't cheap (and you'd need to budget for a desk as well) but it has been worth it in terms of sound quality... assuming we are excluding the sub that we recently picked up.

Now relisted for £180!

So is it just me who thinks that it is basically a basket case that is going to be a shed load of grief to put right, which at the end of the project will still not be worth the intimated values the seller seems to indicate?
I've been always conceptually interested in the Zon basses, but I'd love to try one before buying it, just to avoid (as happened dozens times) to put the hands on an instrument and to be completely disappointed. Too bad I live far away... Free bump for the Zon anyway!
Where do you live?
still, its not like anyone is going to be ripped off. The reserve was very reasonable given the value of the parts.
I have to disagree. Where in his listing does he state that a part or parts (or everything except the neck) of the bass are not genuine Musicman parts? It could be argued that he doesn't know that most of the bass is cobbled together so to give him the benefit of the doubt (even though it has been pulled by eBay previously) I'm going to point out one or two of the inaccuracies and see if he responds positively; if he doesn't then he is trying to rip people off! -
Can I just mention that, as an avid eBay watcher, this must be at least the THIRD bass to turn up recently that is (allegedly) ex-Haydock. Even if they're genuine, the one aspect of provenance that they all share is a complete lack of any evidence to support the claim.
I'm glad you mentioned that as I thought it was me having a senior moment. Why choose Haydock of all people? -

As wrong as a wrong thing! Prior to looking at the listing I read what Dave said about the pup being misplaced and I expected that his expert eye had picked up that it might have been a few mill out of place... jeepers it's that far back you may as well call it a piezo. Oh and what's going on with that neck plate? -
Dead easy to make your own... must be easy as I cobbled one together 20 years ago with the minimum of DT skills.
IIRC (and Dave might correct me if he finds his way onto this thread), it was his first bass, so it'll be the one that he bashed out Buzzcocks and Undertones covers on through his youth. Which probably halves the value again.
Dave... "in his youth"... nah never happened, he was born owld! Soz Dave it had to be done! -
Thanks for all that. Could they have done a 3/4?
Nope! The JV's only ever came as a full 34" scale. However if anyone has a short/medium scale bass and feels the need for some flats...
