1. I was asked recently by a guitarist (just starting out in bands) exactly how many songs I 'memorised' as he was amazed that I could play with 2 bands at once (though I have been in up to 4 at any given time ); this was prompted by the fact he'd seen me at a one-off gig that I did with a band that I've not played with for quite a while. I tried explaining that I actually have a rubbish memory but these clips on youtube probably sum up my (ahem) ability quite well (give the first one a minute or so as it does get better/entertaining). 2. I heard a bit of interview with JBJ the other day and he quite clearly talks about the chemistry when the FOUR band members get together and the BJ sound being attributed to the FOUR musicians... that must smart if you are HMcD.
 3. I use one (the 30"x19" one) with my pair of Aggie DB12's and aside from the isolation benefit it lifts the cabs that bit extra off the floor which does help with such diminutive cabs. The guitarist in one of my bands laughed when I first used it but wasn't laughing so much when we played on a big hollow stage and he struggled to control the bottom end on his guitar amp... I had no such problems! I have to confess that I thought I'd be losing some bottom end but that doesn't seem to be the case, I'd love to hear the science behind why that doesn't happen.
 4. Was mine, then Luke's and now on eBay... you might have gotten it a lot cheaper from Luke though! 5.
Funnily enough - and rather more on topic - don't they just add more weight, or do you counter that by snipping off the excess string once they're locked in place? Sounds incredibly anal but I've recently discovered the delights of lightweight tuners on an erstwhile neck heavy instrument. Lightweight, locking machines, I'm off to the patent office........
You do snip off the excess string but that doesn't save a great deal of weight. The weight saving is with the tuners themselves; the locking tuners on the Bolin basses are about as light as a tuner can conceivably be!
 6.
TBH I think headless basses are the ultimate in stability and ease of string change. They also look ace. I wish Warwick would make a decent headless based on the Steinberger system. Don't tell me about that hideous Nobby Meidel thing though.
The very first Warwick Thumb bass was intended to be a headless design... just saying.
 7.
for a silly old guy who still rides a horse... what exactly do they do and why are they needed
Instead of relying on the string wrap keeping the string on the post, they are 'locked' and don't need any wraps around the post. Hence they require no thought/effort re. cutting and wrapping strings around the tuning peg (admittedly hardly a difficult job but made far easier non the less ) and are quicker to change.
been looking on google do they give enough break angle
Shouldn't make any difference, in fact on most basses they'd give more as the locking hole would be closer to the headstock face.
 8.
I have just spent some quality time with my Bolin NS5 trying different strings. 4 sets. With Sperzel locking machines - no problemo. Old set off, new set on in about 3 mins flat. They are the future.
I have to confess we may be in a minority here mate but I'm with you on this one.
 9.
wow! missed that one! Thanks dood! looks like a mega deal! I owe you!
That'll be me then. I had mine already packed ready for delivery to someone else but the deal fell through, if you are interested drop me a PM. Buy it before the weekend and I'll supply a speaker lead of your choice (Speakon to 1/4" / XLR / Banana Plug / Speakon / whatever) and free UK delivery. 10.
If you really want lightweight you should sell that Metro P/J and go for the NYC model with the chambered body.
I sold an 8lb NYC... ... and bought the Metro PJ.
 11.
Hi, Would you ship this to Ireland? I know it would probably be quite costly, but that would make a nice standby amp at that price... Regards, Sean
I should add Sean that there are a couple of people interested and to be fair to all I'm going to ask those who actually want the amp in the order that PMs arrived; one before you and one after.
 12.
Hi, Would you ship this to Ireland? Can you PM me your postal code so that I can get a quote. Cheers John
 13.
would the drivers work in my MAG115 cab??
That depends who you ask... The 'sonic scientists' will say that specs need to match etc but there is the school of thought that says suck it and see (obviously I am in the latter camp as I am trying to sell ). All sells patter aside the short answer in truth is, that of course they will work and for what the cab is (a budget model full range cab of no specific design), they'll probably work bloody well BUT I would say that why not try my cabs as they are (and designed), you may get a bloody shock as to how good they are for bass just the way they are (I've tried it and it is scary). You can then sell your MAG cab to off-set some of the cost.
 14. Just checked; 1200w @ 8ohms bridged, 600w stereo @ 4 ohms and NO mention of 2 ohms... wonder where I picked that up!
 15.
Does it do bridged to 4 ohm? 1200w in what circumstance?
I will double check when I have time after work. It does do bridged but I don't know what into till I check but stereo 600w @ 4 ohms (per side). I also believe that it will go to 750w @ 2 ohms but I've never tried it as it has only ever driven our HiSys 2's from new. It is a true 1200w rms amp not some obscure rating or at some silly ohmage.
 16.
a 4U SKB rack case? Very hard wearing, been gigged no cracks or breaks. Black pastic job with clip off front and back. Like the one in the pic but with the older blue logo. Price... £25 a 1U rackmount DOD SR series stereo EQ. Its currently in the above rack but I'll have a look and get some spec for you. Looks like the one below. price ... £25 You guessed it £50 for the pair! all postage to be covered by the buyer. both the case and the EQ are in good working condition and will be a handy addition to someone's rig / PA.
You have a PM.
 17. 2U power amplifier. Bought new by me 3 years ago and used to drive a pair of PA speakers (not too frequently), racked from new so in very good condition. £140 The speakers are for sale separately @ £130
 18.
Just curious, looking at the specs on these things they look to be great, ive just looked at their 2x15 cab, which i really like the look of, but ive never heard a one. Anyone used their cabs? recommend them?? what's their sound like? reliability??
Do a quick search and you'll find these were discussed at length a year or so ago. The 1x12 cab was featured in a Bassist mag shootout along with Bergantino/Aguilar etc. iirc it did well. 'Quite' similar in spec to the Tech Soundsystem/Tecamp cabs but cheaper!
 19.
Hi, does anybody know the weight of a standard Squier Jazz Bass? Had a look on the Squier website but no joy.
If it's any help the 'Classic Vibe' I just had was 9lb 9oz... not sure about the standard.
 20. Oh dear... I managed to guess their password and log onto that account in under 5 seconds! If it isn't a hacked account and that is a genuine listing I'll be stunned.
 21.
£140. Good sounding cab, especially for rock if you're not worried about having low end or can add a 15". Bought 2nd hand and was told that this is an early version so has better quality units than Warwick put in these days. Only selling because I need more of a jazz sound and I'm currently looking for a Mark Bass 1X12. Will add a photo real soon.
You'll maybe have a bit more luck if you put it in the sale section mate.

 23.
Well I am very proud to say I have just won Dave Wilson's Black Metro via E-bay..... How am I going to get this one past her indoors!!!!!!!!! Looks like I better start recouping from selling some of my collection!

haha, I was watching that Metro bass as well ... was hoping that it wouldn't sell so that I could try one (which I am tomorrow) and purchase privately from him! ah well
Ouch... that'll hurt Dave by the time he takes off the fees! Just to counter what a few people have said; that they've bought and subsequently sold their Sado's and that the prices aren't justified etc. I have to say as someone on a quest for a light-weight quality bass, who must have bought and sold a dozen basses this year alone, now that I have it and I've gigged it a bit, I'd not sell my Sado PJ @ ANY price.
 24.
Rubber car footwell mat Cheap as chips
+1 I had my MB heads 'almost' bounce right off my cabs the first time I gigged them but luckily I'd rigged them the same as Alex suggested (lead looped through cab and amp handles) so I managed to avert a floor impact. As it happens they didn't stick around long enough for me to utilise a rubber mat.
