1.
I don't think the fact that the cabs have different drivers is important when comparing them. A speaker cab either does the job you need or it doesn't. We need to stop looking at the numbers in the specs and use our ears instead. The more speakers I try I find that the actual size and number of drivers in a cab is becoming less and less relevant. What matters is: 1. Do you like the tone? 2. Is it loud enough? 3. Is the weight manageable? 4. Do they fit in your chosen mode of transport? 5. Can you afford it? That's what's important.
Never a truer word said. I meant to add to my observation above, that the other aspect of me owning any gear is that for a live rig it has to fit criteria as you've described; transportability (will it fit in my car along with 1/3 of my bands PA without dropping the seats), portability (can I walk through a doorway without turning sideways/struggling or smacking my knuckles), audibility (can me/the band/the audience hear what they are meant to hear in a variety of circumstances), smileability (does it make me happy owning it... which includes tone and cost). To a greater or lesser degree many cabs would meet my requirements but as it stands the Aggies do it best 'on the whole'.
 2. Thought I'd add a couple of pics as this bass has come up for observation of late... It is more of a mushroom creamy white than the stark white it appears in these pics.
 3.
c) Love the vintage look of the DB's but prefer a slightly bigger cab...must hear their 1x12 paired up though... Bergs) .. what was the thinking of 10's against the 15's...not really a like for like, but ok as a general comparison of what was to be had... Having said that, this could be the way for me to go having had an old SWR Goliath which was rear ported and had IMMENSE bass response but never boomy.. A total back-breaker tho, so 2 2x10's might work nowadays for me... As a general rule on big stages, I prefer a 2x10 and a 15 for the bottom. On smaller stages do you want the bass to be very toppy ..knowing it will blossom a few mtrs away...or go for bass right in front of it.. If this is stage monitoring only, then you can take your choice.. if it is the only bass sound in the room, then this needs to be considered more, IMV
Some of your observations that I can respond to. A pair of DB1x12's is IMHO more than the sum of the parts. I was mightily impressed with the Barefaced cab, though I won't be changing. To elaborate; this wasn't a scientific or even staged test, it was a bunch of locals getting a bunch of cabs together to see 'what if'. As such I established that as expected the pair of 2x15 cabs appeared to put out more bottom end than my Aggie 12's which leads me to the conclusion that as I have loads of bottom end with my Aggies when playing with my bands, in the venues that I do, the 2x15's would be 'too much' bottom end. As has been observed the Aggies have plenty of mids/highs/presence when compared to the other cabs which means I am on a win/win staying with the Aggies; "for my needs, in my live situation". re. the Berg 10's v 15's. As above we just got the gear together that 4 bassists use and did a bit of A/B/C/D comparison.
 4.
The trans-white finish is particularly stunning. Any close-up shots, warwickhunt?
Just snapped a couple, I'll stick it in the Sado Porn thread.
 5.
Did you get it from Sadowsky direct? Im just shocked and also pondering why they are cheaper than there normal metro basses. Is it due to it being a new model?
I got the Sadowsky by way of a 3 way deal with Chris 'Beedster'. I'm not so sure that it is cheaper than their 'normal' Metro basses; last time I saw one advertised new (and they aren't easy to source) it was only slightly less than the UV which was the most expensive Metro and more expensive than the MV/RV/RS.
 6.
BTW. was the Sadowsky used a NYC or a Metro? IMO the NYCs I've played sound plenty good enough on their own without needing any help from the pre-amp.
Metro; the preamp had a midge's nadger of bass and treble boost only because that's how I like it set and that's how it was when it was handed to WoT.
 7. Hmmm... I guess the action on the Sadowsky may not come as a surprise considering comments in another thread but here goes; Sadowsky Metro 'PJ', (I 'think') Sadowsky blues .040, .060, .080, .110: 0.8mm, 1.5mm, 1.5mm Ahem... Low Zon Sonus, DR Sunbeams .045, .065, .085, .105: 0.7mm, 1.5mm, 1.6mm Low Bolin NS4, DR Sunbeams .045, .065, .085, .105: 0.8mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm Low Warwick Streamer Stage I (Owld Red), DR Sunbeams .045, .065, .085, .105: 1.0mm, 2.0mm, 2.0mm Medium Warwick Streamer Stage II, DR Sunbeams .045, .065, .085, .105: 1.0mm, 1.6mm, 1.6mm Low I have an engineering mate who loaned me some kit to take the measurements so I'm fairly confident in the accuracy. <edit> Just looked back at other actions on this thread... I'll stop trying to get mine lower I think!
 8.
Corrected that for you. This is the Barefaced forum after all! Alex
Any chance you could photoshop some of those tatty old Fender basses out of your 'Barefaced' thread... you'd think bass hadn't moved on in the last 50/60 years!

 10.
Here's the link for the 77 Ray in the Oxford Guitar Gallery - this is a nice one indeed, i should know i take the photos for the OGG website specials pages, so get to play them all http://oxfordguitargallery.com/Specials/Default.aspx Cheers Fishman
There doesn't appear to be any images of basses on the site never mind the Ray! Oh and please... a tad insulting having an image of a Spector guit*r instead of a bass when you click on the Spector bass link!
 11.
That's arguably the nicest Stage 2 I've ever seen....lovely.
Not sure that it is even 'arguable'! New home still required.
 12. Not wishing to derail this thread but are HK anything to do with Hughes and Kettner? It isn't just the initials that has me asking; they are both German based and HK literature mentions 'Dynaclip' (tm) limiting which I thought was trademarked to H&K! <edit> A ha! Just noted HK are based in St Wendel in Germany which IIRC is where H&K are based... may have answered my own question.
 13.
I'll accept the closest offer on this as i really need the cash by the end of the week & dont want to have to sell either of my basses.
Go Mr.T... you may as well!
 14. Not mine, nor nowt to do with me but as it looks a bit of a BIN bargain, I'll not be urinating on anyones bonfire if I flag it up. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Peavey-210txv-bass-t...id=p3286.c0.m14 He also has an unloaded 1x15 cab for the same price; handy if you have a 15" driver spare and you are collecting the 2x10 any way!
 15. As you say it could be one or the other so if you have access to another cab and amp it'll be a doddle to establish if it is amp or cab but if it is the amp then a repair should be done under warranty.
 16.
In a desperate hope to save me having to sell my warwick i'm putting this up for sale, trace Elliot AH250smx head 2x10h cab 1x15 cab All in mint condition & with all cables & manual, only used in my bedroom (I have the 600 version for live work £600 the lot: i'll try & take some pics tomorrow & put the on here
Paging Mr.T... paging Mr.T!
 17. I have a Tech 21 Trademark 60 1x12 guitar combo that I use in the house (keep the input/drive gain right down, scoop the mids and use the output gain for master volume) and I have to say that the tone at house volume is superb (even with a couple of guitarists giving electro-acoustics a good thrashing)! I am under no delusion that as soon as I turned up the wick I'd lose the thick warm punchy tone as it turned into overdrive but at this volume I bet it would record great with a quality mic or with the Tech 21 balanced DI. As you say, sometimes the strangest things just work!
 18.
If I had the money I would have taken this from you.
If Chris had lived nearer I would have taken it! Can't believe this hasn't been taken btw.
 19. Nope, the aesthetics are lost on me, that looks U.G.L.Y. Sorry! Though it does explain why it is in pristine condition... the owner was too embarrassed to take it out.
 20. Not mine but a mates... honest! He has just got fixed up with new gear and has no need/room to keep his TE 4x10 & 1x15 cabs + one flightcase for the cab but I can't remember which cab. *SOLD*
 21.
Thanks for all your suggestions but sadly none of them are what im looking for. So I have decided to get a "normal" bass with 20/22 frets and keep my bass with the 24 frets. Best of both world i think! Im thinking of getting a Lakland Joe Osborn. I have tried a skyine and loved it but im going to go for the US model. My only consern is that the skyline was REALLY quite. With all the nobs up full and the amp up loud it was still nowhere near as loud as it should have been. The tech ran it through something that tells what the output is and he said that it was no where near as high as it should be, he didnt know why this was ether. Im wondering if this is a problem that all Lakland basses have or if this bass had something wrong with it. Does anyone know about this kind of thing? Thanks Andy,
I owned a Skyline JO4 and there was nothing wrong with the output; it was comparable to a USA Jazz and an EMG equipped Squier I had at the time (very different basses but I am talking perceived output from the 3), it also stacked up similar to my other fully active basses... I assume you had a duffer!
 22.
I love these but sadly it would kill my back in an instant. Fabulous though.
Like the man said, I've also admired these since the first time I saw one reviewed but weight is weight to us owld fellas and this would kill me! Good luck with the sale though.
 23.
Those Fenders seem reasonable for 60s ones. Wonder where he gets them all?
Well one of those P basses rang bells, so I know where one 'may' have come from... further research req'd.
 24.
If you're selling on this forum then it's probably a good idea to let mods/admin take a look.
Never thought for one minute it might be generated from an ad on here. It looks the typical eBay / Gumtree scammer communication.
