Stick it up for sale on here, ebay and the local ads and someone somewhere will take it if the price is right, no idea what you are selling so I've no idea if £200 or £2000 is fair! If you receive any further messages like the one you have mentioned, just remember; 'if it sounds too good to be true... it is!' and then walk away. Unless you do the right level of research, you may miss the odd bargain or missed opportunity but you'll save in the long run by not being ripped off.
Ah, this has got me thinking about my old Trace 1153, now. I loved that cab... am I right in thinking it didn't have a horn?
I had one of those (or was it the same one MB?) and it didn't have a horn.

Bought a mini-mixer off Nik (with a free 4 track thrown in) and a stress free transaction with 'superb' packaging... even Parcelpap couldn't have damaged anything with Nik's packing. Cheers mate.

buying something on ebay
warwickhunt replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in General Discussion
I think the issue isn't that Ray hasn't received the goods, but hasn't received the standard ebay (and presumably paypal) confirmation emails. Personally I always contact the seller after buying something just to confirm my address. I wouldn't think twice about contacting the guy.
My posting above should have been clearer I suppose; I didn't get any communications from the seller or ebay either. I got my receipt from paypal to say that I had paid, which I did regardless of the fact that I hadn't received an invoice! -
buying something on ebay
warwickhunt replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in General Discussion
I bought a Cheap Trick album over a week ago and no communication what-so-ever, despite emails to them after 3/5/7 days; so I lodged a Paypal dispute and within the hour I had contact explaing they had been in hospital (what from the moment the listing ended till 1 hour after dispute initiation), WOW what a coincidence... and very odd that someone using that same account had listed another 20+ albums at various stages that week! I'm not saying you should lodge a dispute (you can't any way for 7 days) but as has been stated, friendly and firm (in that order) often gets results but I wouldn't worry just yet. -
A lot of people have said that they have driven their old Peavey amps down to 2 ohms without any problems at all.
Lots of the Peavey bass amp range will go down to 2 ohms, so as you say an 8 + 4 ohm pair of cabs (nominal 2.7 ohm) wouldn't trouble many of the Peavey range BUT I'd check that your amp does 2 ohms. As has been stated most of the Peavey 2x10's were 4 ohm (especially the early ones) but I'm sure I've seen some of the later 2x10's were available as an optional 8 ohm... again check. Just to throw into the mix; I ran an 8ohm Peavey 4x10TX and a 4 ohm Peavey 2x10TX with a GK 800RB and the way that the GK is set up you could only use the 100w output with an 8ohm cab. This meant I had the 100w (full range) output running the 8 ohm 4x10 and the 300w (full range) output running into the 4 ohm 2x10. In theory NOT the best way to do it but the only way that I could utilise both cabs with the amp that I had at that time. I ran that rig with no PA support in a (loud) pub rock band and I had no problems being heard or with drivers complaining. So long as you follow a few simple rules you'd be surprised what can work.

Hmmm... I remember following your (and others) trials and tribulations when searching for the ultimate affordable, transportable, giggable, lightweight rig and you arrive at the same conclusion. In the last couple of years I chased my tail, with among others; Markbass SA450 & LMK amps; EBS & Tech Soundsystems cabs (all neo) and what am I using? Thunderfunk and a pair of Aggie 1x12's, very traditional, very old school but I am happy! I'm not criticising 'all' of the lightweight gear out there but I just couldn't get the whump out of any of the stuff that I had. I'd still like to find a cab or cabs that will bridge that tone/weight divide but time will tell.

'I bought this believing it to be a 59'... In which case probably for a wedge of cash; so you'll be gutted then! Among other things (a new registered seller), I'm loving the fact there is no neck plate.
Hey Ive never tried EBS gear….interesting! Thanks for the input. I’ve just bought Geoff’s Berg HS410, so im giving the modular neo setup some more thought. I can’t justify spending just under £100 more on ONE AE112 compared to the price I got on the HS410. So, Berg is out for me….I’ve got a great Berg here so I’ll have to check other 1x12 manufacturers. In addition, me and Geoff had a chat about weight and casters when I bought the HS410, and we both came to the conclusion that If I buy two Aguilar DB112s, I actually have more weight than one of my DB212s, and with no casters. They would also weigh more/the same as the HS410 which seems mental. Sure, they are more modular, which is brilliant, but I don’t see the point in my scenario on getting anymore Aguilar cabs! Just a waste when I have two DB212s and one is damn loud on its own. Two is literally chocolate thunder! So…something that isn’t Berg or Aguilar. And this time, it HAS to be neo and modular. I have plenty of ceramic cabs. Has anyone got any experience with the Traveller Series Mark Bass 1x12s and 2x10s? I picked one up once, and it truly was completely lightweight. They seem to sell quite well on here too. I don’t want to go for something like this if they aren’t considered good cabs…I’ve heard some reports that their cabs are not as good as their amps. As much as Schroeder has had problems recently, the 1212BMF and the 15+ L are VERY small and modular. Also, Barefaced Midgets and Double midgets are a possibility. If they can do what Schroeder does, and push a lot of power in a light package, with 2x12s, but take away the worry that Schroeder brings with it, then I might go for one. I’m also tempted by Epifani…despite me originally being put off them.
You should also look at the Tech Soundsystems / Tecamp cabs.
They are using exactly the same photos, how very odd.
The oddest thing is that they are using a pic that wasn't even in this thread but it is patently the same bass and set of pictures... this leads me to think that the eBay listing originates from AM1; who may well have had the sale fall through and then listed it on eBay! Who knows.

Noooooo! Where am I gonna buy all my quality gear from now. Au revoir mate, you will be sorely missed... Oh I forgot I'm seeing you tomorrow!

I can't say how chuffed I am that you've clicked the bass AND got your refund but I have to say from my extensive experience with eBay and PayPal I'd be quite frankly stunned if you have scored in this way whilst the guy gets to keep his money! I would seriously have thought that PayPal/eBay would have taken the funds back from the seller but if it has worked out the way you say then that does mean a massive shift in PayPal/eBay policy. Right... off to sell some tat on eBay!
I remember these when they first came out and I'm sure they're a 34".
I agree. I liked the look of these when they came out and had one appeared locally I would have been interested... which makes me certain it is 34" as I'd have dismissed it had it been short scale (no offence to shorties ).
John, Two pieces of advice; 1) Don't plug it in before eBay'ing it, its a tone monster and will probably leave you wanting more; 2) Take a big lad with you when you go to pick it up. There's none of your light weight neodyminium going on here
Big Lad... Oh did I forget to ask you Kev! I also forgot to add; I found a spare set of casters.
