1. At this rate I can tell I'm going to end up buying it aren't I?
 2. I'd like to talk about the proposed PA system Alex, 1 sub and a pair of mid/tops. How far are you off having a finished product and what is the price? We (the band) are in the process of looking at a new system and will likely as not be reaching some form of decision on passive v active in the near future. Cheers.
 3.
Rubbish! I'm not that predictable...
I saw you running outside with your camera as I typed my reply!
 4.
Okay, what's a TV Logo guys?
I see WoT viewing this thread as I go to reply, so I fear you will have a double posting! The logo was changed on the Fender basses to make them more visible and easily seen on the ever popular, new fangled invention 'TV'
 5. Just out of interest (one owld git with a fecked back/shoulder to another) what are you going to keep/use?
 6.
Warwickhunt look away !
I'll buy your lightest bass HJ... then you can afford to pay your chiropractor!
 7.
Guys, Monster sounding Rig for Sale....... I can honestly say that this SWR 750X gave a very good account of itself A/B'd against my DB750 (which it replaced) OK the DB was a bit better in terms of Pure sonic ability but live....... in the mix ? not sure there's be much in it ! The built in distortion and Octave effects are excellent (Distortion is very ODB3) The Head has a little bit of "Rack Rash" and one of the Control knobs is missing the centre cap, Make no mistake...... this Rig is LOUD as HELL !! Pre Fender SWR Boxes in VGC (Golliath mint & SOB a little bit of fuzz but otherwise spot on) The 410 especially has had hardly any use ! SOB comes with SWR soft cover You guys know what i'm like when i've decided to sell something....... I don't mess around !! The whole rig goes for £700 collected from Sunderland ATB Mark
Yep when Marky boy sells up he does it in style!
 8.
They have updated the jack plugs now - they no longer have that spring system on them because they were ripping the innards out of very expensive Taylor acoustic guitars. I'm guessing that it was the spring that was causing the issue for you, right? Also, I noticed a couple of people mentioned they didn't have their receipts for their cables. You'll probably find that if you contact the UK distributor they will replace the cable for you even without a receipt. There is only one UK distributor for Planet Waves, they're called Summerfield MI.
Twas indeed the springs causing an issue! May well check out the new version then.
 9. You know that Torque is cheap and those rumours ain't nice!
 10. Yeh Warwick have done some stuff for him; stryker/buzzard type thing and a Streamer among others. They got all excited about it over on the Warwick forum and there are various youtube clips and pics up.
 11.
Thanks for all the comments! They're really helpful oh and Warwickhunt my RS4 ways just under 9lbs
Well best you catch me with dosh in my pocket (just sold my Line 6 bass... ) and organise a price!
 12.
Someone buy this bass and relieve me of the unobtainium GAS I'm feeling.
I'll see what I can do for you Peter.
 13. I've shipped a few basses abroad, almost all thru-necks ( ) and I've no issues other than to say I would NOT do so if someone was paying by PayPal (don't want a 'claim back' made through no fault of mine). I have always ensured that 'where possible' the buyer has arranged and paid for the shipping and it has been insured for the full value. That way if anything happens in transit then the buyer has the onus placed upon them to make any claim for reimbursement. A couple of times I have had to do the courier organisation BUT I have made it a caveat that the buyer sends me an email stating that any claim that needs to be made will be to the best of my ability but I am not liable... that communicates to them you are not about to get stiffed by a spurious claim. On the positive side! Visit your local friendly cycle shop (or local halfords etc) and ask if they have any empty boxes. The boxes that cycles are delivered in are just the right size to contain a bass case (cut down to correct width very easily) and the shop should be glad to get rid as they have to pay someone to take the cardboard!
 14.
Do you know what, I've actually been giving this some serious thought over recent weeks. Do you reckon your average 4 string jazz would cope OK dropping the tuning down one?
I've dropped the E down to D on my Warwicks for the last 20 years. I tried one of the de-tuners when they first came out but found it easier and more reliable to just give the tuner a twist and tune by ear. One string being dropped by a tone doesn't upset the neck on my Sadowsky or Lakland either.
 15. Cracking little set-up for not a lot of money; that would be great for anyone stepping up from their first combo/practice amp. I'd be very surprised if someone doesn't snap this up very soon!
 16.
It's a great price - only slightly more than an LH500. Things to be aware of; the power's split into two feeds - unless you use the speakon bridge out which then delivers so much power, you'll prob blow the cones out of your single cab. The LH500 is a single feed. Apparently they're a fair bit heavier too. Reverb doing the LH500 for £299 at the mo. If you're running a couple of cabs though, this would prob sound HUGE. Edit: first impressions of the LH500 (at low level) is that it is very warm sounding; creamy almost. Mert will prob be along in a minute to back that up!
Doh! Must type quicker. Similar line of thought though.
 17.
Thinking I may need a spare amp head , are these still a good deal compared to when they first came out .dont know what the original price was ,best I've seen so far is this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=180356634457 Currently using an old 1973 Ampeg B4B Valve head into a 4x10 cabinet , I dont expect the Hartke to be as warm sounding ,but what are users opinions. Cheers
That looks a decent price! I'm not sure why you doubt how 'warm sounding' the Hartke will be; I've played some SS amps that are far warmer sounding than valve amps and by all accounts the Hartke does a decent impression of valve 'warmth'. Looking at that eBay listing, one thing I'd want clarifying is; what power is the Hartke delivering into what loads? Dual Parallel Mode: 2 x 225 watts @ 8 ohms, 2 x 320 watts @ 4 ohms, 2 x 545 watts @ 2 ohms I'm thinking/typing out loud here but I'd have to assume that 2 x 545 watts @ 2 ohms = a pair of 4 ohm cabs releases the full power and that you'd be getting 320 watts into a pair of 8 ohm cabs... yes that has to be it!
 18. With a service like that it's a shame the jack plugs just won't work in a couple of my basses!
 19.
such nice photos! loving that red streamer, though i'm not totally sure what it is?
Streamer Pro M
 20.
You sound like you're 'all at sea' with basses John. You want a light 4 stringed bass, are you set on a Jazz of some sort? What is it you like in terms of tone? Maybe you need to set up a poll My advice would be to try as many as possible without looking at the name on the headstock and you might be surprised.
I'm having another of my annual clear-outs! Ultimately there isn't much point in me holding on to any bass that exceeds about 9lb in weight as I have discovered (through much painful research) that the figure quoted is the magic figure for inducing grief. So as it stands I have 3 Warwicks, 1 Lakland, 1 Variax and a Yamaha that need new homes but I'm not about to give things away in desperation. Oddly enough I'm only offering to take something in part-ex as I like just trying basses out. I own a couple of basses that fulfill ALL of my requirements (Bolin - fingerstyle/finesse & Sadowsky Metro PJ - that rock/slap/thump thang) but I quite enjoy looking to see if there is anything better and I'm not fussed as to the label but it DOES matter what it weighs. Polls are good fun but as you rightly point out I need to just pick things up and try them added to which some people have strange ideas about what constitutes light and how to weigh a bass!
 21. Withdrawn while I take stock of what I'm doing with this bass!
 22.
im interested
Excellent.
how heavy is it?
17.5kg... any chance of a weight for the Geddy?
 23.
MB1. ....The Torque of the Tyne..... ....Extended Tumbleweed Bump!
Please feel free to keep them coming... it keeps me at the top!

All 3 of them? You are more than welcome to shoot me an offer... inc' a weight for the Geddy.
