1.
Here's my 1990 Thumb It's like something that's been hewn by German elves with Adzes. And a photo nicked from John:
I thought I recognised that! Oh and when I've got a spare hour I'll stick some pics up (past and present) but when 'peted' referred to the original Infinity Ltd Ed's he may have been referring to this bass.
 2.
That would be VERY helpful! Thanks! Did the Aguilars come out on top?
Pretty much, yes. Though a couple of the cabs were highly rated.
 3.
Has anyone seen this or a link to it?
I have a copy somewhere but can't find it to hand. I may be able to help you out with a scan of the article (sorry I'm keeping it)... when I find it!
 4. I run a pair of DB1x12s and though I'm doing pubs and clubs etc. I've never come close to finding the limits of this pair of cabs. I did have a scare a month or two back as I thought I'd trashed a driver but after fitting a replacement (care of our own WoT who had a spare Eminence 500w from a Schroeder cab), I established it wasn't the driver after all. It may be of some interest to various parties that WoT Marcus and myself did a little bash where we got together the pair of DB112s, Marcus's pair of GS112s and WoT's pair of Berg 210s... I'll ask WoT and Marcus if they put up a thread/comment on any of the Forums.
 5.
The Mark 111 series (and also the Mark 4 come to think of it) had a different layout to the Mark 5 IIRC. That deal for the whole setup is so good - get it! Had a Mark 111 years ago and it was a belter! The cabs were okay too (even better with Black Widow spkrs which were an option), and with the build quality being so bomb-proof would be okay if you needed to upgrade the drivers at a later date. Will blow your Hartke away-just get a mate to help you with the stairs though....
I agree, bomb proof and they punch way above their perceived value. For £100 you can't go wrong... so long as it all pretty much works but you can expect/forgive the odd scratchy pot etc.
 6. The metal studs on the corners of trouser pockets/joints have been far worse offenders for me (never wear a belt for the very reason it mashes your bass up), I cut all of my studs out with a pair of wire cutters (Levis jeans are the worst offenders).
 7.
Only other bass i have is my stingray - and thats likely to mong your shoulder even worse If i come into cash i'll let you know. Also congrats on the amazing price.
Well I'm not looking to turn a quick profit on this but as it stands at the minute I can sell this bass at least twice at my asking price but I am having to take a long hard look at a handful of trade offers.
 8. I have a potential sale but as it is International and payment options are limiting I'd like to sell to the UK. I wouldn't dismiss the option of a trade up or down for a lightweight bass!
 9. re the OP bass. I'd always have a fear that if this thing has sat for 25 years completely untouched and unplayed that the fingerboard wood might dry out. I have no experience of an untouched 25 year old bass upon which to base that observation but I have picked up the odd bass that has been left unloved for a year or two and the fingerboards can have suffered due to the lack of care or even just oil from your fingers/hands! Just a thought.
 10.
Noooooo! Fancy a trade for a lake placid blue one?
Not unless it weighs 8.5lb and you can respray it any other colour. In all seriousness a trade would be pretty tricky as they are the same bass and I'd not be gaining anything... worth a try though!
 11.
Maple or rosewood board?
Maple!
 12. I wondered if any BCers were also Warwick forum members and if they have found the site down? I only have the home PC as a means to access the site and I don't know if it is me or the site that has the problem!
 13. I picked this up on the understanding it was on or near as 9lb... upon arrival it is 10lb 8oz! Unfortunately for me I have a recurring shoulder injury which means that anything much more than 9lb leaves my shoulder in pain, in fact I'm off to the chiropractor tomorrow! This comes with the J-retro fitted, tortie plate (original inc') and a hipshot detuner fitted (original inc'); I want back what I paid £675 (collected or + carriage) and I'm not about to haggle as I expect this to go rapidly. It is in very good nick with just one small paint chip to the headstock (I think they leave the factory with these chips) and has just been cleaned, polished, set-up and restrung. It is in a Stagg poly-moulded case which protects it but it did take a knock at some time in its life and a couple of the catches don't 'quite' lock as good as I'd like. <edit> Though I must stress it works fine as a flightcase!
 14. I love the look of these Hamer guitars and for the money they are a steal but I have to confess Chris, that the 'sunburst' on your particular instrument appears to have faded pretty quickly!
 15.
Not true im afraid. If they price it incorrectly you cant force them to sell it to you at the lower price. The precision had a Jaguar price ticket on which is different to being deliberately misleading, in which case its a case for Trading Standards.
I think I've been beaten to it by several others but to reiterate... this idea that a seller 'has' to let you have an item at a given price, even if they have incorrectly marked it so, is an urban myth. I'd be swinging my foot to try and connect with my backside if I was you though Peter.
 16. If you look hard enough you might find a used Sadowsky Metro... in fact eubassix has one for about that price!
 17.
Simply because the words 'ridicule' and 'fun' do not go together unless you spent your school years stealing the smaller kids' dinner money. Guideline 5 stands, if you have an issue with a daft price then either send the seller a polite PM or ignore the thread. You can tell quite a bit about a seller through his responses to PMs too. Talkbass wouldn't stand for ridicule (yes, they have a rule), so I don't see why this forum should.
I've read the thread a couple of times and though an individuals definition of 'ridicule' may vary, I can't see anyone has ridiculed the seller! With regard to prices and the fact that sometimes people (myself included) don't put a price on an item and invite 'offers' maybe we should follow the TB example and make it a rule that you state upfront exactly how much you want for something...?
 18.
Thanks SteveO, you seem to be the only one who knows about those basses..the other ones please collect agathis squiers crafted in corea
A slightly condescending tone to take on a 'bass' forum, don't you think?
 19.
for example http://cgi.ebay.de/1983-SQUIER-by-FENDER-P...alenotsupported or this one http://cgi.ebay.de/80s-SQUIER-by-FENDER-PR...alenotsupported or that one: http://cgi.ebay.de/Squier-by-Fender-JV-Pre...alenotsupported enough???

ahh..here is a 82 JV: http://cgi.ebay.de/1982-SQUIER-by-FENDER-J...alenotsupported if you get JV`s for 350..pls let me know..i will buy all of them
First off, nice bass! However, not wishing to cause a ruck but I think you'll find that 3 out of those 4 listings are for sale from someone who the basschat ebay police might call 'The Joker'... he regularly gives us all a laugh with his listing prices! However the bass is still worth what someone will pay for it and it IS your prerogative to sell it for any price you like and no one can take that away from you. <edit> Why do I always take so long to type a reply that someone else beats me to it (Hiperi0n in this instance)?
 20.
Swap you for a Roller Blind
Wait till I get the 16 bedroom mansion and you can do all the windows as a trade!
 21.
Warwickhunt, Thanks man if its not too much of a drag... Especially since they may get a bit jittery (like we do here) to join and then put stuff up for sale. Id buy you a drink if you ever came down to London :-). Fatos
Done and no drink required, just helping spread some lurv. Shame you can't look into carriage as you might get a bit of interest in Europe.
 22. Have you considered putting this on the Warwick forum? If you can't be bothered to join give me a shout and I'll stick a thread up with a link to basschat.
 23.
The bottom two have ACG written all over them imo. Is it just me that sees this?
tbh Peter most of the designs in that competition looked a lot like other designs (even a bit of handbags over Benavente/ACG designs at one point) but you do have to accept that folks were designing basses to win a competition and that involves appealing to the masses. There are only so many variations on a couple of designs that work (without alienating 75% of the bass buying public) so it was always going to end up looking like something else!
 24.
You may well be right sir. I took "spalted" straight from the sales particulars when I bought it. I shall edit and make that clear on my original post. You're not going to make me an offer I can't refuse then?
Tempted (though I don't know the weight, I'd better it was 9.5lb+ which would be a factor for me) but then again I've had my eye on a few things of late but timing on anything else isn't great for me at the minute! Good luck.
