I do recall playing a red SS1 just like that in Howard's Bass Place in the toon...it was in need of a good polish up though at the time...wasn't yours, was it?
I bet it was. I sold 'red' through Howard some years back (when it was in mint condition), it then passed through a couple of hands (likely as not back through Howard's 'Bass Place'), collecting some battle scars along the way before I got it back from a fellow BCer down in Bolton. There is/was another 'Toon' see-thru red bass owned by a guy in North Shields that was for sale/sold on eBay a few months back, so it may have been that one either.
  2.
I'd kill for Warwickhunt's Sadowsky.
Correction; Sogg's Sadowsky now!
  3. For versatility and a growly/throatiness, you probably can't go far wrong with a Corvette $$ but what's wrong with your FNA? That should be pretty versatile. As for Fenders... £2k is going to get you a hell of a lot of Fender! However it doesn't have to be Fender I take it, look at the Sadowsky Metro range or Lakland... or Sandberg or... you get the idea that there is a hell of a lot out there for your budget. As for versatility I'd be looking at something with 2 pups; JJ MJ PJ or any of the other combos, again a huge range. With that budget you will be spoilt for choice. In fact I've just sold my Sadowsky and I am in the same enviable boat (though I'm not spending even half of my available budget).
  4.
What's the next purchase then?
Dunno... what you got? It'll be something I either don't mind getting dinged and/or a lot cheaper but either way I doubt it'll compare to this!
  5. Last chance! I have a couple of good trade offers and two people interested in a straight purchase so I'd like to think I'm going to conclude something before the weekend. Cheers
  6.
Oh, not this again! When this was originally up for sale I showed the missus some pics of it saying it was the most delicious bass I've ever seen and that it was for sale. You know what she said? "Go on, treat yourself". Very tempting but I can't justify spending the money at the moment. Have a bump for a beautiful bass.
Get your Missus on the phone for me right now... I want to have a quick word in her shell like!
  7.
The Sound City B200 can use 2 or 4 valves. We always used it as a 2 valve output because of it's extreme volume(+120db at 1 metre) and tone. I would defy anybody except a stadium player to be able to use it with all 4 tubes. Yes, I promised to collect from this character because he f**ked up a perfectly good amp which is now lost to us all. He did not have the guts to come out and say so and that kinda pissed me off. Sorry. Non of the carriers believe him, and Paypal spoke in person to my neighbour who received the amp back in front of 2 of his serving policeman friends, who by the way owe me nothing. You could say we were lucky, but the only way for us to recover is to sue him or return the pile of crap that came back to Paypal for the refund. He knows the size of the stunt he has pulled, but how gullible are you lot?
Probably not advisable to state/assume anyone is gullible on this forum; regardless of whether you are talking about eBay transactions, delivery services, forum statements OR the workings of valve amps... you'll find there are a fair number of open minded individuals who are well capable of coming to their own conclusions! I've heard your side of the story and I've heard the OP and from the two accounts I'm coming to my own conclusion re. what 'I' think has happened here.
  8.

You're well within your rights to respond but just to clarify... have you been threatening toward the OP and have you made any reference to finding out who his band is and getting some one to sort him out? Also exactly how did you package a fragile valve amp and regardless of whether 'you' think the amp was plenty loud enough with 2 valves (louder than a 5k rig ... really?), don't you think it should have been shipped with the requisite number? I am confused however as to who has been refunded by PayPal?
  9.
hi I have a kubicki x-factor fender custom shop and a shuker elite 4 in top grade quilted maple wenge and flame maple, think pictiures still on statti site and this site, if interested I'll email some nice pics, I was thinking both basses and £500 any good, regards soggs
Zap me some further details and we'll see where we stand!

  11.
I already sold one for my other sadowsky.... Can you survive with none?
Never heard of kidney dialysis?
  12.
The price is inclusive of a Musicman hardcase (logo impressed poly type) and FREE deliver... AND if you buy this before the Ltd Ed is sold then you can also have gratis a Warwick 25th Anniversary Leather Jacket (brand new with tags size M)! The jacket was won in a Warwick competition 18mths ago but the size was wrong for me and I couldn't get it exchanged; the jacket is at least £200+ on the Warwick site/shop!
I'll sell the jacket on eBay and we'll call it £1400!
  13.
arrrgh.... dream bass
Go on... sell a kidney and indulge your dreams!

I've been offered an Atelier z m-245 in part-ex for my Sadowsky but I know nothing about them and the Atelier Z home site isn't great... one review on Harmony Central isn't much to go on! Any info/opinions gratefully received and if anyone has first hand knowledge of values or any links to recent sales of used Atelier's, that'd be really helpful. <edit> Scratch that! The Atelier Z bass is a heavy un, so a none starter for me.
  15.
I wish this hadn't come back up on here...I'm all anxious again... How about, err...a Wechter 9400 ABG (original price £3900!) fretted by Martin Peterson, perfect condition and about 6lbs, a Sei Jazz 4 in Swamp Ash (no fancy top but a beautiful neck and abalone blocked, rosewood bound board) - excellent condition and around 8.5lbs...and £300 your way (£325 if you can deliver/collect)? It's the best I can do for lightweight 4s. Edited for minor change - offer for delivery etc. Oops, then edited again for miscalculation
Can you send me some pics of the basses in question and also where you live! The action on the acoustic is going to be of paramount importance.
  16.
Ive got some old Irish Punt notes if your interested??? Maybe Maybe not
If you use the Punt notes to wrap up some Euro notes I might be!
  17.
The most stunning Sadowsky returns Am I allowed to ask what you paid for it John?
Of course Peter, I didn't deliberately not print the price ... I paid Mark's full asking price for it; £2200
  18. This is a very recent acquisition and the ONLY reason I'm considering a trade for this is that I really can't justify owning a bass costing this much money and it not be my only/main gigging bass! I have a couple of other basses that I chop and change between and I'm happier that way, rather than having one instrument (especially as I have 3 bands on the go and all require different approaches/tones... well, IMHO) to do everything. The bass is in mint condition and has a Sadowsky light-case (rigid gigbag). I can and will take pics but tbh I doubt I can beat the pics taken by Roger Sadowsky's photographer, so I'll put those up for now, as well as the link to Mark's original sale and good pics (more to be found in the 'Gear Porn' Sadowsky thread). I'll flesh out loads of info if required but if you are in this league when looking for a bass then I'd expect you'd have a fair idea of what this bass is. . It goes without saying that it is UBER-light and the tone is huge! It is presently strung with DR Sunbeam 45-105s but I am quite happy to restring and set it up with lighter gauge strings (home set-ups are a doddle on this bass) 'for the right deal'. FINISH - Vintage Tint BODY - Spalted Maple on Chambered Swamp Ash with Black accent line FINGERBOARD - Birdseye Maple, 12" Radius, 1 1/2" Nut Width, Vintage Tint PICKGUARD - None HARDWARE - Black PICKUPS - Nordstrand Big Singles (wound for Sadowsky with Sadowsky engraved on the covers) Sadowsky Preamp with VTC WEIGHT - 7.65 lbs. (3.47 kg) http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...hl=sadowsky+nyc http://www.sadowsky.com/stock/view/5091.html What do I want? I'm receptive to most offers but the bass being offered MUST be under/about 9lb in weight! I won't split hairs if the bass is an once or two over 9lb BUT recent experience of buying a 9lb bass, weighed on the 'bathroom scales' (person weighed with/without bass) that actually turned out to be 10lb 13oz bass, has left me needing a more accurate weight. Obviously I also don't want to do a straight swap for a similar priced bass (defeats the whole object of why I want to trade). Hit me with what you have for offer via PM and please include a price for the balance you are looking to add, it'll save a fair degree of PMs if I know that we are in the right area. I do have 2 offers on the table to buy the bass outright, so a straight sale is obviously acceptable but I'm not prepared to sell it for less than I bought it from Mark. Cheers. <edit> Ooops! Forgot to say that I'm only interested in 4 stringers and a fretless wouldn't be top of my list... but you never know.
  19. Is it your bass? Just my initial observations but... the body looks as though it has been stripped/refinished at some point, the upper strap button has been moved, it's had a refret and IMHO doesn't have any real 'kerb appeal'. I'm not saying the bass is a 'wrong un' but I'd not rush out to buy it even if it were cheaper. Just my thoughts!
  20. I must try and broaden my circle of friends! Another top deal with the 'Ryton Raggie', I ended up walking away with an EBS pedal that I didn't even need; what a sales man! Cheers mate.
  21. I'm sooooo good I now have two threads all of my own! Top blokes to deal with and I'll be 'hunting' down your feedbacks shortly.
  22.
Another Jazz bass gets passed about between me and John !! This time I take ownership of my "old" EMG equipped Squier - Welcome home !!! As good a Jazz Bass as I've owned under a Grand !! Top Bloke the Hunt !!!
And in the process I take possession of an EBS comp-pedal! I'm sure that Squier will end up back at it's 'Winter' home before too long. Cheers mate.
