1. To save me reading all 9 pages again... is there a simple, cheap way of having this moulded plugs made to take the music output from a phone (as well as being hearing protectors)? I don't own an iPod etc but my latest phone has an expandable memory and I'm quite digging the music feature of my 'phone' (though I'm beginning to think the phone isn't even the secondary function of the apparatus ). However, the headphones are cr*p! I seriously can not get them to stay in my ears AT ALL, even when sitting perfectly still. Unfortunately the output from the phone is one of the Samsung mini (flat) USB style adapters and there probably aren't going to be a whole heap of reasonably priced headphone/buttons available. Thoughts?
 2. I've sent him a 'question' pointing out the flaw in his present design. Not nasty in any way, simply pointing out in layman's terms what is happening with his design... we'll see if he prints!
 3.
while you were at work I nipped round to your gaff and had a Luthier look at your unfinished bass... TADA! No, don't thank me... It's *my* pleasure.
It took me a second or three to figure out what you were on about! Nice one.
 4. Interesting! I hope he has wired them out of phase with each other or he'll have completely missed the point of the Isobaric design principle and it will sound pants. If he's done it well/right then he's potentially going to get the same sound out of a cab that is half the size. So 'if' it has been executed well (not sure about binning the tweeter though I do know someone who has done that with the Peavey 2x10TX and they swear it was better with it completely removed) then it's probably not the worst DIY solution to transporting a cab in the back of a small sports car. I could be wrong but the rear ( ) speaker looks to be different from the... front speaker! <edit> Though he is potentially open to getting the listing pulled with his 'cash on collection only' statement!
 5.
I bought my '91 Thumb on eBay about five years ago for £670. Last month I was watching an auction for another '91 Thumb that ended on £1170 (IIRC) and ultimately sold to the same guy who'd sold me his for £670 + petrol money. So yeah, I think values are starting to get realistic again. Actually... He was from Tyneside somewhere, can't remember exactly, maybe you know him.
The one thing I do know is... it wasn't me! I've owned a good few Thumb basses (I'm a slow learner) but I'm pretty sure I've never sold one on eBay.
 6.
I've got a telecaster (guitar) which is great. No neck dive, and a joy to play. But the extra length of a bass neck makes all the difference, and tele shaped basses all seem to have serious neck dive. Someone once told me that to balance well on a strap, the top horn on a bass needs to stretch up towards the twelth fret. Tele shape doesn't get close, hence the neck dive. Which is presumably why Mr Fender shaped the Precision body the way he did. Tele shaped basses still look cool, though!
The Bolin has a very sw***y retractable/swivel strap extension which means that the 'strap button' on this particular SC is way up by the 12th fret! Marvelous, but you'd expect nothing less when Mr (NS) Steinberger is involved.
 7. All original other than the pups... Is that a Badass on it and chrome knobs?
 8. £939 for a used 4 string BO Jazzman... Feck! My 'Vintage' Ltd Ed NT Streamer with free shipping and a 'NEW' Warwick Leather Jacket is looking a positive bargain. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=110394841693
 9.
What - for 27 years? J.
Thievin' Bastids in Jarra, so yeh! Only joshing it's no worse than the (former) 'worst place to live in the UK' that I reside in!
 10.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=140324776699 Actually a nice & very old Antoria Jazz, probably 1971. I fully expect this to get quite silly in its last few hours. Jon.
Actually Jarrow (pronounced Jarra) isn't that far from me and in all fairness if I lived there then I'd hide my bass in the attic as well!
 11.
It gets worse. They cut the wood out of the headstock instead of the upper bout. I'd take it back and complain if I were you
Now let's not sidetrack the thread... headstock designs needs a thread all of it's own! 2+2, 4 a-side, 3+1, reverse, slotted; the mind boggles.
 12.
John that's a bit grim, having a bass hanger on the outside wall of the house That'll be for the Fender?
When I built the garage it was the best door retainer I could come up with at the time! You're right about the Fender bit though... bliddy double cuts; patooey!
 13. Does this mean I have an excuse to slap up a pic of my Bolin again? What's not to love?
 14.
Isn't that Lysdexia's?
Without a shadow of a doubt!
 15. £650 for a BO Corvette... bodes well for the NT Streamers that I have for sale! Though I am loathed to eBay them, that may be the way forward.
 16. My observation would be that you are either bored or not inspired by your bass. If you are talking about adding a different preamp to any other bass that you might buy then why don't you just change the preamp in your Jazz 24? There are lots of basses for sale on the forum and at the right price you'd sell your bass to buy something else... my gut feeling; you don't like your current bass so get rid of it and get something else!
 17. The Boss pedal can struggle below C on a 4 string bass (I use one). Simple remedy... don't go below C! Seriously! Whilst playing an octaver why would you be playing in the lower register? Even if you have a phenomenal amp and cab(s) the lowest register sounds pants with any pedal (IMHO) Among others, the Carl Martin and EBS are as good if not slightly better but you'll still end up splashing a wedge of cash and be finding fault regardless. I've tried some of the other pedals (and rack units) available and tbh the Boss may warble a bit on sustained notes etc but it is no worse than most and better than units costing twice the price; learn to play around it's weakness and enjoy what it does.
 18.
My Q is, what tone can i expect compared to say a Jazz or a Stingray5.....I have never played a Warwick before....Which is the best Corvette model, i always liked the FNA Jazzman...Are they weighty? Do all Warwicks sound similar, What can i pick up a Double Buck or FNA for these days? Thanks for any comments...
TBH there are Corvettes and there are Corvettes; you could essentially be asking 'what tone can I expect from a Fender [insert any manufacturer with a large range]' because the Corvette that I own is very different from say the one that 'Waldo' has for sale from the one that 'clauster' has, as much as say a P bass 'v' a Jazz 'v' Squier 'v' a CS. In the Corvette range there are passives, actives, Jazz pups, MM, MM +Jazz, $$, (to name but a few) BO, NT, cheapies, expensives... do you see where I'm coming from? Best advice... Go out and try one because they are all different (inc. neck dimensions).
 19.
Double Bass, Aston Martin DB anything also considered tho
You can have my Dog's Boll*cks + cash, poor owld git is just like me and doesn't have much use for them... not that I'm insinuating I'd have any use for my DBs! I'll stop digging now.
 20.
Monitor adjustment necessary.
Come on now... I like Warwicks, what does that tell you!
 21. PM 'bassassin' he'll give you a good idea or stick a thread in the JapCrap Spotting section, the regulars in there will know better than anyone!
 22.
hah hah well as it happens I could have! I'm off work this week and just trolling around, with lots of spare time, which is *SO* unusual for me. I would have loved to have had another blast through the Thunderfunk (if you still have it ?) I'll drop you a line next time I'm up for sure! ...a cuppa and a go on the TF sounds like an ideal way to spend an hour or so... However as for buying another Warwick, well, hell yeah, you probably could have tempted me with another!
"Well Hello Andy, come on in mate... what's that; a quick blast through my Thunderfunk and Aggie DB112s? Of course mate... here just plug this old Warwick in... what's that; is it for sale? Well it just so happens!" Or something like that any way. If you do intend visiting the area giz a shout (Warwick purchase or otherwise) and you are more than welcome to give the TF a blast whilst shouting the breeze!
