Website has been swapped, just lots of editing and expanding for me to do now. Good idea about the press area, will put one of those together! Alex
Blimey your site's much better now Alex, nice one!

IIRC the $$ is one of the few Warwick basses that is truly passive if the batteries die, so the bass will still operate if the active circuit is defunct. However, it would be unusual for the preamp to fry for no reason (have you been trying to do any mods on it?), I'd be more inclined to think that there might be a wire loose or a dry solder joint somewhere. Look for any solder points that look different to the rest; i.e. a very shiny joint if the rest are dull, then resolder that point. If you aren't too confident with soldering/DIY work, then it shouldn't be a huge job for a tech to fault-find the problem.
Hi there mike from Cardiff here-these flatwound strings, which surprise I cannot buy in Cardiff, do they effect the neck in any way? I must admit your bass looks amazing-I tried one for the first time 6 months ago- it was a warick streamer and the action was just low and it was just so easy to play. Ah yes I just realised- are your strings extra long? sorry to ramble logicalmike
Strings are standard length, not extra long and they in no way affect the neck; not that it should matter anyway as that is what the truss rod is there for!
They're of little use with cabs that aren't specifically designed to work with bi-amping, and of the current crop of commercial bass cabs there are none. You'd have a fair enough result with a 2x15 for the bottom and a 2x10 sealed guitar cab on the top, using around 300 Hz for the crossover frequency, but with two bass cabs running both full range will probably work better.
+1 to that. I've had a couple Bi-amp rigs (GK800RB was a classic example) and tbh when put through bog standard bass cabs, imho they sounded better run full-range.

SINGLE 1x15 Peavey Black Widow 350w cabs *NOW* £60
There are some quite extraordinary bargains flying about at the moment.
If you break it down it is pretty mad. Consider that if you wanted to buy a pair of Peavey BW drivers (never mind the cabs or leads etc), you'd struggle to get them much cheaper, then they are pretty much a bargain. Factor in the boxes themselves and you are getting a pretty good PA/bass cab (inc horn) for £55 each! -
Yeah, hopefully something small that could go in my bass gigbag... I know it wouldn't be easy, but as long as it would be possible!
Possible... but sorry not comfortable or likely! The DB112 is a great cab and not a monster for weight but unless you 'pump iron' or are built like a proverbial brick sh*thouse, I'd not recommend travelling by train/tube carrying the cab by itself let alone with a bass and/or amp!
Interesting point, E-Bay seem to have soften slightly regarding their Pay-Pal only regime after getting hammered in Australia where someone took them to court over unfair trade conditions by forcing people to offer Pay-Pal as an option. As E-bay all but own Pay-Pal this was seen as them basically double dipping. I am amazed no one has threatened to take them to court over here regarding forcing Pay-Pal on us as their charges have gone up by some 8% in just over two years thanks to double dipping. I have just sold two basses on their an Overwater and a Lakland and put Cheque only on both sales and they said nothing.
Not sure they have softened their approach as much as didn't spot it this one! I also think you'll find that ebay and paypal (and gumtree) are one and the same. re. your point over offering cheque payment as an option; this is perfectly acceptable BUT you can not preclude paypal as an option and to only offer cash on collection is an automatic termination of your listing 'if they spot it'. -
Great, because I wont have a car next year, i may have to use the train to some gigs, so the weight was the only issue really, for any gigs like this it would only be one anyway, so it these sound ideal! Just got to try one out properly now!
Ooooh not sure I'd like to transport a DB112 to a gig via train, especially as I assume you'd need to also carry a small amp and a bass!

Price aside; he was lucky not to get the listing tugged... "cash only please, pay-pal and ebay rip people off enough already." A definite no-no in eBay's books! -
"Price drop due to quick sale being needed, please feel free to offer - any offer considered." Just offered him £175.

It does have good hardware and pickup upgrades, plus a nice case. I didn't think the price was that high until i saw the fretboard I always check these types of auctions just in case i see "Made in USA" written on the headstock. Wasn't prepared for this horror story though! I might offer him £176....
£175 - £176... I think you are being generous! If you offered that up for sale on here for that kind of money I reckon you'd get the tumbleweeds rolling through your thread. -
Hello fellows, I've done a search but not sure of the answers. I'm temporarily without a bass amp, a friend has offered the use of his Marshall lead amp that has a 10" speaker, would it be OK to use that with the reverb off for home practise until I'm sorted or would it cause damage to it. cheers everyone in advance.
It'll be absolutely fine for in the house, I use a Tech 21 Trademark 60 guitar combo in the house and it can sound pretty 'shweet' at low volume.
I might just do that (with £1300 in my back pocket just incase!). I'd offer to bring my Thumb along but I'm sure it'd be nothing new to you!
I could charge you £1300 for the Tea/Coffee and you could tell your significant other that the Warwick was free!
Thats one sweet bass Mr Warwickhunt
Cheers!
This is lush... I'd be interested in a ballpark figure as well.. just to confirm that I cant afford it, probably!!
PM on its way.

As a DB owner I'd agree with the guys above. One handed lifting is OK, I can carry one in each for short distances but doorways are inconvenient; however a cab in one hand and something less bulky in the other is fine... and the handles are stronger than you'd imagine.

Those HK basses are listed regularly on eBay (so don't dive in too quickly) but no idea of quality.
Hi I have a fender squier Precision Bass - Serial Number JV11324 - sunburst. This was bought in the early 80's when our bass player left and I had to play bass instead for our pub band (instead of guitar). The Bass in in pretty good condition and has only been played at home on rarae occasions as I've reverted back to 6 string lead. I understand the JV versions are better quality than more recent versions but would anyone know what this would be worth if i deceided to sell?
Be prepared for the breadth of suggestions you'll get. There'll be the prospective buyers who'll try and suggest £200, the realists who'll say £300 - £400 (depending upon condition) and then there'll be the owners of JV's or the strangest group... the spoilers, who just want to ensure someone doesn't get something that they can't afford, saying that they reckon £500 - £1000 is more realistic. You'll also get the links to various eBay JV basses (I'd be surprised if someone [likely a collector type] doesn't link to a known 'Joker' in Germany) but the most honest way to do it is to look at past completed sales on Basschat (use the search function), that should give you a realistic price. Oh and I'll give you £100 for it if you like.
Do you know if this would fit a 94 CIJ 72 reissue jazz? I see it hasn't got the hole for a screw between the neck pickup and the neck... but if the other holes line up it's no big deal!
I 'really' don't know! I can draw around the scratchplate as a template, scan it and post that up if you like. You could then print it off actual size (A4) and see if they lined up. The additional extra screw hole shouldn't matter as this is 4 ply and not about to warp or twist.
Thats a bargain!! I've seen ex factors go for £800 - £1100, I wouldn't sell mine for £600. Quality wise its way better than a Musicman, If I were buying a backup for it I'd happily pay £750-£800 and wouldnt think twice about it IMHO. I watched a key factor go on ebay for £800 recently too. I think due to how rare they are and the unique hardware, electronics, look and feel £650 is a VERY fair price. If I managed to get round to putting up soundclips it would have been sold.
Unfortunately we can all quote high and low examples of certain basses but it is no guarantee that anything will achieve what a buyer expects. The ex-Factor bass example you give can also get little/no interest at all... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT The reserve/BIN of £800 obviously scared buyers of that example. If you are certain that soundclips will secure you a sale, it's surely got to be worth doing hasn't it? There's a buyer for every bass... you just need to find them.

What you see is what you get. A pair of each female XLR to single phono adapter and a pair of male XLR to... not sure what you call them they are spring loaded wire crimps I suppose! They are ideal if you need to adapt or make something up on the spur of the moment i.e. gig emergency. The spring loaded clamps are plenty strong enough to hold wire/cable for use in a desk etc. Obviously being Neutrik they are a quality component. I found examples as cheap as £5 each inc postage on eBay, list price is over a tenner each though they average £7 per item online. I'd like £10 inc UK postage, for all 4.
