An ex band mate of mine (he's a guitarist who has tried [and failed] to move to bass) is selling this cab and asked if I'd put the word out. He had it on eBay and he had no bites; he'd like £350 for it (his price NOT mine) and I'm happy to relay any messages to him re. the cab (or the price), if you wish to PM me. I realise these are eBay related but they are available off ebay to any interested parties.
I am so sorry - I should have made it very clear I was talking 'in principle', and offering a general agreement to the OP's idea without having direct experience of what he/she is wanting to do. That's why I asked him/her to let me know how they got on. I must remember the audience I am talking to in any future posts.
Don't get me wrong, I wasn't having a dig at you or the OP Doubling up on cabs is generally a far better option than adding more power and something that I'd heartily recommend, especially if you are keeping to the exact same cab. However what I was trying to get at was that there is a point reached where the number of speakers and volume starts to become counter-productive as everyone else in the band starts upping their game in order to be heard; mush and anarchy ensue.
I've been thinking about doing the same. I run a Hartke LH500 into a Hartke VX115 (having replaced the driver with an Eminence Kappa Pro) which gives me 350 watts at 8 ohms. That's enough for most gigs but occasionally it would be useful to have a bit more volume, so adding another 8 ohm cab would give me the full 500 watts, and the extra power and more speakers should do the job nicely. Warwickhunt is right about the PA, but only if you run the bass through it - we don't. Having read a number of threads about mixing cabs with different drive units, the way I understand it is that it's not always a good idea, so another 1x15 would seem to tick all the boxes - it's a (relatively) cheap way of getting more volume and there shouldn't be any unwelcome issues with your sound. Let us know how you get on.
Read the OP again... TGE is talking about running a pair of 2x15's NOT a pair of 1x15's!
-
If they are both 8ohm (or 4ohm if your amp can run at 2ohms), then no reason why you can't... but unless you are playing some huge venues why would you; even then, your PA should be doing all of the work rather than you blasting your band mates and starting an onstage 'sonic war'!

Such a thing as a lightweight combo as loud as my current setup?
warwickhunt replied to Delberthot's topic in Amps and Cabs
The cabling can't be what's bothering you as you'd only save yourself a grand total of '1' speaker cable by getting a combo and if you start adding an extension cab to the combo then you negate the whole saving of that 1 cable! There are plenty loud and light combos but tbh the smallest and lightest of them would need an extension cab, so you then have bigger and heavier loads in order to match your current set-up. Hence IMHO, I'd stick with what you have rather than moving to a combo. -

One or two of the Glockenklang heads allow 3x8ohm loads but not 2ohms. However, when you are talking uber-lightweight then you are more restricted. If you are considering a change why not get a seperate preamp and a digi power section that will do 2 ohms?

Squier Japan Precision £63 currently
warwickhunt replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
The 98p on the price is odd - you'd often see bids a few pence over to beat a previous max bid that ends in a round pound, but not a couple of pence below
That 'can' indicate that it was either a very inexperienced eBay member bidding or (the option that is often more likely)... a shill bid. -
Well someone bought it already so problem solved for all you guys coping with sweaty palms over this one (me included ) Own up if it was you!
I thought the listing had ended as it was no longer available! Of course that could mean that someone from here has struck a deal off of ebay.

Hang on just one minute! No one has asked the most pertinent question yet... WTF does a Michael Anthony wig look like and where would you get one? I mean no disrespect to the guy but that's hardly a killer look... Of course if you're completely bald! "Gimme a break guys!"
The 2-tek was awesome. Required routing a big chunk out if I recall? Wasn't it endorsed by some chap? Loius someone? Johnson perhaps? I Vaguely it assciate with a Treker bass? (which I'm sure inspired the guy that drew the Warwick katana) but it coulda just been on the same page of a magazine.
I had a 2-Tek equipped Warwick Fortress Flashback bass and the bass did have huge presence/sustain, how much could be attributed to the bridge I have no idea! Mind the bridge alone must have weighed nigh on 2lb. IIRC Michael Anthony of VH had them fitted to several of his MM Sterling basses.
I'm still on my first tin after 10 years of ownership. Maybe I should polish it more frequently! I'd have thought any beeswax based polish would be fine - just avoid silicones and solvents. Alex
Ditto. I only just moved onto my 2nd tin a couple of years ago. I'm often amazed when I hear of folks going through a tin a year... it smells alright but I hope they aren't eating it!

20+ years and counting of owning Warwicks and yes you can use off the shelf beeswax nourisher. I'm not sure you can call any of the waxes 'cleaners', I've not looked into the science of it but tbh wax nourishes (and I include the Warwick stuff) wood and seems almost contrary to what I'd call cleaning... ie you are waxing over the top of/into dirt rather than lifting it off. Not that it matters as it just makes it look better IMHO.
Hoi! I'll have you know, young man, I played a Jazz last night. Yes... a Jazz. It had TWO PICKUPS and everything! It was like a bass from the future. Anyway, I was honkin' away at the bridge and I never noticed the grub screws once. So there.
that was the neck you were anchored to NOT the bridge... that's why you didn't notice the grub screws!
-
Main issue that I had with the 'old' Fender bent plate bridge was the grub screws invariably stood to proud and were uncomfortable if you played close to or muted over the bridge. No worries for WoT as he wouldn't know what that first 8" - 9" of string was for!
Found this on Ebay UK last night - I think it looks rather gorgeous. Don't know if the seller is anyone on here. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=280349606434
I'm fairly certain this is the resident Roscoe 'Bike'! It'd probably be fairer to ask who hasn't owned it... Me actually! It is a lovely bass by all accounts and may have come with Nordstrands IIRC. That is a shocking listing though; if it is a BC selling it (which I'm fairly certain it is), please sorted the beggar out so that you don't have to scroll across to view the listing! Then contact me if you fancy a trade for a Jazz!
Afternoon all, I've had a look round the net but can't quite seem to find what i'm lookin for so thought you knowledgeable ladies and gentlemen would be able to help. Could someone (in words I can understand) explain the difference between Made in Japan and Crafted in Japan for Fender basses? Is there a difference in quality? Thanks Gary
Simple answer... One was made before the other!
