The only thing that's really putting me off is the neck as I like prefer flat neck profiles and this looks quite round like a Warwick neck - is that the case? Any side on pics?
I can take any pic' you'd like but if you mean a side on pic' of the neck I'm not sure that you'd capture the profile. It's nice and sunny out so I'll see what I can do. -
Ahhhhh sadowsky's!! you know your doing the right thing! Have you decided which model your after? (NYC, Metro, UV, Modern etc)
No definite decision between Metro or USA it just depends what is available used (not buying new I'm afraid) but I do know that it won't be the UV as I'd rather have either the 'downsized' Jazz or even the P bass outlined Metro. Which ever I eventually get it'll have to be fairly lightweight. I'd have had JLY's Sado but the one colour I'd shy away from is blue... unless I could find one cheap enough that I could refinish it! In the interim I'm looking at using a Squier neck and EMGs (from a Vintage Vibe that I got from Mark) to add to a lighter-weight (possibly 'downsized') body, to see if I can get a giggable Jazz bass to use in the interim. I have to add that the Squier 'as is', is more than up to the job and is a cracking bass but if it's to get regular use I need to shave a pound of its weight! However, saying all of that if I don't find a Sado soon enough I'm likely to keep this Spector. -

I can't promise to hold this till the end of the month or until your bass sells etc. and that isn't a personal attack to those who have shown interest and subsequently had to back out as these things happen but the bass is available to the first person with funds... money talks etc. I'm travelling down to York on Wednesday so I can arrange a meet etc if you are Northern or I can pack it up and have it shipped off Tuesday if you can clear payment before then. If this doesn't sell before then I'll either stick it on eBay or keep it till the economy recovers a bit by which time this model will probably have gone up in price again! There's always still the option of taking this bass and my cash and I'll have your Sadowsky or similar quality bass. Have a nice Bank Holiday weekend. -
Now come on mate you know the rules... it doesn't exist if I haven't heard it. I didn't realise you were pairing that SoB with the SWR 4x10. I thought the Aggie GS were being used in the mix somewhere, it makes more sense to me now! Right so we need to find you a cracking band to pump it out with now! Nice one.
is that two hughes and kettner amps on the bottom pic?
Bassbase 400 and 600. The 600 has actually just recently changed hands again on this forum... the two MB amps were also sold to BCers!

Not sure about the DD model Chris but I've been researching the DJ model and it would appear the Skyline and USA models are worlds apart and all info seems to indicate that with regard to the Skyline series you'd better try before you buy as there can be some shonky Skylines (biggest issue for me is that weight can vary between 9-11lb... though a strapping lad like you need not worry ), though the USA models 'generally' get high accolades. I stress that this is based upon the DJ model.
Yeah actually thinking about it i must have just blacked out for a minute when i posted that!! Its mexican!! its not good value for money!! and its pink for christ's sake!! lol
Nothing wrong with being in touch with one's feminine side. I'm not knocking them as a store but looking at some of their eBay pricing I do wonder... £1645 for BO neck Warwick Streamer LX!
i like the look of this! especially for that price http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Jazz-Reissue-...A1%7C240%3A1318
£500 for a used Mexican Jazz? The colour may be unusual and I agree that the look is good but I took a mate to GuitarGuitar in Newcastle and he picked up a 'brand new' (old stock 2008) Mexican Jazz for £349... so not sure about your price affirmation!
WH sell me the 2x10 and 1x15!
Unfortunately they went some time ago mate! Also the 2x10 was 4ohms and the 1x15 was switchable 4/8ohms (genuine switchable as it was a dual coil driver), so unless you had a 2 ohm rated amp, pair of 4ohm (in my case MB) amps or a BlackCat ( ) you couldn't use the pair together.
And why did you sell the back cat ? IMO best amp in his class ...
However, IMO opinion not! Aside from the tone of the amp I found the fact that the available power was only usable if you had x2 4ohm loads was not particularly useful... however it isn't just Tech that follow this path. A very good/great amp but IMO the Thunderfunk was better!

Starter for 10... Tech Soundsystems BlackCat and 6x10 with the Thunderfunk ... and for your bonus points, Tech Soundsystems 1x15 and 2x10 cabs.
It's a Maison. Basically a low-rent version of a Bass Collection. The headstock on the Maison is a little squarer and pointier than the BC or Tune ones, but the main identifying mark (the logo on the upper bout) appears to be covered over with gaffa tape. I've played a couple. Horrible, horrible things.
IIRC Tune basses also had a logo in exactly the same place as those Maison basses.
Had a chance to play this bass today when I was sorting the deal out on my Jazz with Warwickhunt. I gigged a USA NS2 for alot of years as my main bass. I have to say that this bass is as close as I have heard to a good USA one. It is well set up with little to no frett wear. Nice sustain and a great example of a Czech Spector. Anyone who fancys it dont miss out on a great bargain. Regards,Mark
We must stop complimenting each other and our respective basses mate... people are gonna talk! Hopefully I'll have this stitched up by the end of the weekend so that I can put this one to rest. Now if I'm not going to be offered a Sadowsky or Lakland DJ in the next few days how do I go about taking a hacksaw to this Jazz... -
Thanks for all the equirys the bass is now sold to Warwickhunt. Thanks John for the smooth deal. Regards,Mark
Pleasure Mark and as always a font of solid knowledge on all things bass, great just shooting the breeze and hearing you play. I have to confess I'm still reeling a bit from how good this 'Vintage Vibe' is! It may well get an airing on BH Monday... it'll be interesting to see various other Muso's faces when I turn up with a Squier rather than a Warwick or Bolin The one down side is that it makes that Sadowsky or Lakland that little bit harder to justify to SWMBO.

Who was the female bassist who used the early Levinson Blade basses? I have recollections of her playing a nice sun/amberburst with Paul Weller... then again it might not have been with PW but at my age I'm proud of the fact that I remembered it was a female!
I do like Compression, but its my least favorite out of the 3 albums. Z x
Have you tracked down the Talas album; 'Sink your teeth into that'? Unfortunately I just have the vinyl version so can't (ahem) help you out with a digital copy had you lost yours.
Fair play .. I guess the £100 it's got up to is just £50 more than it's worth then ...
Now standing @ £155 so that'll be £105 more than it's worth... I hope the buyer isn't too disappointed.

Couriers ask for a weight and can under some circumstances penalise you if it is over, added to which pricing tends to be based upon volumetric weight so if you go for 15kg you can't go wrong. I've sent a few basses packed in cases and not a single issue if I use 15kg. Who are you using?

Just realised that in my post (#7) I called you Peter... I saw your avatar and mistook it for 'Peter' Greeneking's ACG. Absolutely nothing like your bass but strange the way your eyes/mind can play tricks on you.
ahh, but you forget that it was [s]pulled off the shelf for[/s] made especially for that puddle of mud guy. Must make it worth at least an extra grand.(actually, I used to be into them, time to dig through the CD piles for a repreive methinks.)
It doesn't 'actually' say that the guy from PoM played or owned it. It states 'made for', any bass that anybody owns could have been made for any 'famous' player. The fact is that ANY SSI ever made could have been made for the PoM bassist. The devil is in the detail and without some form of authentication/verification it is just a SSI. -
Hi chaps, I'm toying with the idea of selling my 4string Ibanez SR900 and wonder if anyone has a good idea of what i should be asking for it. Its in excellent condition and has the Ibanez hardcase (this didnt come as standard). I don't believe they make them any more, its a through neck with flame maple body in transparent black and Bartollini pickups and pre amp. Mart
A quick search in the sale section on BassChat and on eBay reveals that the going rate would be £250-£300 though I'm not sure if the case would actually add a great deal to the deal.

Nice one Chris! So who can spot more than 3 famous faces on TSH's first picture on the link in the OP?
Dead spot eh? Get yourself a small G clamp to alter the headstock mass, then if that cures it, go buy a FatFinger, which is a neater professional G-Clamp device.

Is it a jazz? If it is, there's been quite a few posts about this issue and despite lots of views. It appears to be a "thing" with jazz basses in my opinion. Had the same problem on all my jazzes except a Roscoe beck (usually somewhere between the 3rd and 7th frets) I would think an aftermarket neck change at worst. As already mentioned, it could be the mass. Maybe some serious EQing could help a bit but that may compromise the tone generally. Call the Bass Gallery maybe for their opinion.
I may well be wrong but I think that the OP has said 'flatspot' not 'deadspot', i.e. a flattened area of the fingerboard, hence his raising the action etc. If that is the case in guitar repairer worth there salt will be able to level that board for you. You can do it yourself but you need the right paper and block otherwise you'll have rolling hills all over your fingerboard and nasty scratches.
