Anyone get the feeling someone messaged him and told him he was selling a little too cheaply? still at 900 quid its still a good buy!

"23/3/09 - sorry guys / gals, but I have been advised by several very generous individuals, that I have seriously underpriced this baby (especially as it's an early one, and has LEDs in the neck), so I'm afraid the price has had to go up" Why would someone do that?!

obviously they're a twat
Of course the fact that someone has placed a bid means that the BIN of £750/£900 is gone and immaterial... Increase in BIN or not, someone could now potentially scoop this for less than the £750 any way!
 2.
I really want this. Anyone have any idea how much it would have cost new? I realise it's pretty much completely a custom job, but i've never even seen a Warwick with this finish...is it rare? He's also selling a 6-er (slightly cheaper!) with the same finish... Also a plague on the house of the person who said he should sell it for more!
Just my idle musings. New back in 1989/90 the 4 stringer would have been about £1600 (if it were a standard bass), if it was a custom order it could well have cost £2000 - £2500 (+LED work). The paint job looks very professional and could well be from the factory BUT... the fact that the LEDs are retrofit and hence the battery compartment was put in at a later date (originally it would only have required 1 battery) makes me wonder if the paint job isn't post production. I accept that SIMs would have routed the battery compartment very professionally but something is niggling my subconscious. I have no idea how SIMs fit the LEDs but would this need any modifications to the bass that would have marred the finish? Also the fact that he owns a 2nd Warwick with an almost identical style paint job (though different colour) in almost perfect condition (as per the 4 string) makes me have a 'sneaking' suspicion that he is pals with a professional paint finisher. Either way both paint jobs look very tasty and without seeing the end of the bass in the flesh it will always be speculation unless he has some form of authentication from when it was new. As to why someone bigged up the price - They obviously DIDN'T want to buy it and may well own a Thumb bass themselves and would rather see similar basses going for more money there-by increasing the perceived value of their bass!

This may well go for the BIN but in the present economic climate I have my reservations.
 4.
I'll see your 2x12 and Mini 15 and raise you a 6x10".
You beat me to it... though I still think that I have the edge Steve and trump you as I used the 6x10 with the Tech Soundsystems 1000w BlackCat amp! These Tech cabs are pretty damn good and I can't imagine the new owner being disappointed.

 6. See me mate and we'll see what your x2 GS cabs with my x2 DB cabs sound like!
 7.
Hence the sale of my Warwick in the sales thread.. plug plug http://www.nashguitars.com/timewarp/timewarp_basses.html
Ah but your modern Warwick sounds 'different' from vintage Warwicks as the production techniques were different back in the 80's!
 8.
How did you manage to break the nut mate?
Easily done on those placca jobbies if you use a heavy gauge string and the nut slot is tight!
 9. Use the listing number and you get this... 10. AS a complete EUB novice can you (or a previous owner of this bass) let me know what the action is like and what state the strings are in (age, condition etc)? Cheers.
 11.
Think he only had that for a couple of days. told me he sold it because he wanted this.. Arse
So am I right in thinking that you sold it to someone on here, who fed you a load of bullsh*t?
 12.
They're high sensitivity and low excursion drivers. That means they don't require much power to get loud but also means that their max clean LF SPL is relatively limited because they can't move all that much air before going past Xmax. However with four tens in unison that should be pretty high SPL - I think if you were using one cab on its own then you'd notice the limitations much more. Drivers like this do tend to sound rather nice but you have to be willing to carry enough of them! Alex
Glad I'm not losing it then as I did comment to Michael last night that I noticed that the driver excursion was very small for the perceived volume/output. I know that sometimes driver excursion only varies by mm but I've known some cabs where the drivers are literally bouncing and the Bergs appeared to be barely moving.

No its not!.....think Beedster owns that one?
Very recently a Warwick bass went up for sale @ 9.29 and by 9.44 I had confirmed the purchase but I agree I think that Chris beat even that!

 16.
... you'll need a real bassist, so dont rely too much on Warwickhunt (afterall, he does use Warwicks)

Any pictures that you could publish on here, the other place, Talkbass, Warwick Owners Forum etc

Alas not. I had my camera with me too, but I figured such events were too improbable and unthinkable to be captured on film.

I bet his fingers are killin him this morning
TW*TS! I have to confess, I did enjoy using Michael's amp and cabs with my SSI strung with Sunbeams. I even begrudgingly found the P bass with flats made a lovely sound when you did little runs... and I mean little runs cos I chuffin well could not figure out where the hell I was gonna anchor my right hand thumb! As for the Berg cabs; am I mistaken or did I read that they are supposed to be 'Hi-Fi' or 'bass-shy' because they had a nice fat full tone last night. I know that Michael is still considering NV cabs but tbh whatever he gets to replace these is going to have to go some, as I found these stonking little cabs! Oh and don't tell anyone else but I recently stuck a nearly new set of DR flats on a Warwick bass for a laugh.
 17. A typical Saturday afternoon in Howie's workshop. "Whey man Howie, a think me pick-ups fooked. Any chance ya can whip it oot and put us a Dimarzio in mate? An while yis on can yu tweak the action a midge's coz am gettin a bit o rattle at the dusty end... an' can ya dee it noo while a wait like?"

Been shitting myself all day thinking how am I gonna tell her but she was fine and dandy. I told her I was gonna sell some other basses to finance it but the sneaky bitch already had the money stashed away
Hang on Al... your Mrs, stashes money away, then tells you about it and gives you it! Never mind selling your basses how much do you want for the wife?
 19.
Of course! I'd like to hear them myself! Giz a nod tomorrow and we'll work something out. By the way, they pass the famous 'Warwickhunt - Carry though a door sideways' test...
Will defo speak Monday. Typical that you aren't gigging your backside off for once. They go through a doorway when carried by the handles? I can see that they'd walk through very nicely carried upright but they look very wide!

Sorry, WH...
Slip my ar5e! Well I'll forgive you that 'ahem' slip as I'm playing Monday, Tuesday and gigging Friday so a chance to try 10's after my honeymoon with the Aggie 12's might be refreshing... let's talk!
 21.
Back to the Drawing Board then!!! Any suggestions of a Bass about £400 then thats worth the money and not fender, I have a squire fender P and use it to practice on as i find when i go onto my Yamaha RBX170 everything is so much easier after getting it on the Squire (neck feel's like a plank) I Love the look of the Ibanez AGB200 Semi but am worried about feedback and low end fluffyness , Also the BC Rich stuff but will look a real Nugget playing Police and Stereophonics tracks with a Warlock!!!!! Open to Ideas
If you want a bass (non-Fender) with a slim neck look at some of the Ibanez SR Soundgear basses, they have pretty slim necks and are excellent value for money especially used top of the range models.
 22.
Hi, I'm looking at getting a Corvette but cant find any info on Warwick neck dimensions. Anyone know where to look? J
Ask or look over on the Warwick forum ( http://forum.warwick.de/ ) but be aware you might get nut/12th fret widths but that doesn't tell the whole story as the profiles of various Warwick basses differ. I briefly had an early Corvette (don't ask me exact model or year but it was active) and though the neck was reasonable in width and similar to a 70's P bass it was classic C shaped, yet a recent Corvette that I tried had a very flattened neck profile (same width). If ever there was a case of try before you buy it applies to neck dimensions on instruments and not just Warwicks as I've been caught out by other manufacturers dimensions/profiles. Sorry that isn't of much help!
 23. Know the feeling Al and it isn't pleasant. I was in a band which had the same line-up from inception and we were going 15 years when it started to unravel. Unfortunately in the space of 12-18mths it went from a tight, well respected unit to a shadow of its former self and it was indeed a sad day when the drummer and I got the whole band together and called it a day. I have to say though that it can be cathartic and the drummer and I have gone on together to do a few things which have started to gel into something which might rival past glories... just trying to figure out whether 15 years down the line with this band it'll end up being like 'The Zimmers'. 24.
Erm ... his name's Stuart Watson and his UserName is stuwat - did I miss something?
Just messin'! It wasn't serious, I was drawing parallels between a 'possible' dyslexic spelling of Stuart and his definite dyslexic spelling of Warwick. It looked like his ploy worked though as he may have joined a forum, scored a sale (pretty damn smartish) and supplied a member with the bass they've been looking for... result all round!
 25.
It's only pronounced "Warrick", y'know. Have a look at the headstock.
Due to the spelling of his username I really hope the OP isn't severely dyslexic! That would be bad form. However in your defence HJ, if you own a top end bass like that and you've come on a forum to flog it then you really should be getting the manufacturers name correct!
