1.
Well perhaps the Forum "eBay links" page should be changed or dropped altogether, following your line of logic (which seems very selfish to me). Do you know what? I haven't been too chuffed with some of the stuff going on the Forum recently (I know Ped and others are trying to put it right) and this is the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I am going to take a break from BC and come back when I feel better inclined towards it. And no, unlike some attention-seekers, no poll, no PMs etc. See you in a month or two.
2. North! NORTH!! Bolton isn't North... that's the midlands that is. Welcome mate. Take a tip from me, steer clear of those bass players down in Bolton trying to flog you stuff that you want at a very reasonable price and who are very welcoming and accomodating. Alright Lee?
 3.
Jeez, I was genuinely trying to be helpful as I know that CIJ P-basses in particular are highly sought after by Forum members. If the consensus is that I'm "urinating on someone's bonfire" I will not post eBay links again and I will spend the time doing something of personal benefit to myself instead.
You can take my comment that way if you like Clarky but if you read my post again you'll see that I praised your highlighting the BIN, I do it regularly; I also occasionally PM an individual if I know someone has mentioned they are actively searching for a specific bass (especially and unusual one). In fact one or two members on here own basses gotten very cheaply because I did exactly that. What I was pointing out and I had hoped that people might understand is, that if I (or anyone else for that matter) come across something on ebay that looks pretty cheap I watch it hoping to bag a bargain BUT if someone comes on here or any other forum and brings it to the attention of other like minded individuals then I am now in 'potentially' a position where I am bidding against other forum members to get said item. I accept that the other person 'might' have spotted it any way but there are plenty of times, especially when items are in the wrong section, when people may not have spotted it. As an example I was watching a Streamer auction on eBay that the seller had listed in 'cars for sale' section(!) lo-and-behold someone flags it up on the Warwick forum and everyone starts talking about this bargain 'sleeper'. Needless to say it didn't go that cheap and it is now owned by one of the people who had posted that they hadn't seen the listing. You could argue that the person who won it was done a favour by the poster BUT equally I have been shafted and would have been the winner any way as I ended up bidding up against TWO other forum members AND I would have got it a lot cheaper. My response wasn't meant to be an attack on your good intentions Clarky, if you think it is then there is nothing I can do or say and so be it; If you can't see where my original intent lay after explaining further or if you and others still think that it benefits others then by all means highlight anything you see but bear in mind one day someone else may well do the same thing to you. I will stress again that BIN listings are a different matter entirely... OH and all of the above is just my opinion anyway, people who come on here looking to see what someone else might have found for them, may think differently!
 4.
Was gently chided y'day for posting an eBay link to a nice CIJ P-bass that was BIN'ed in less than an hour. So here's another nice one without a BIN http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Crafted-in-Japan-195...A1%7C240%3A1318
I know that Clarky and people like him are trying to help fellow BCers out by highlighting 'potentially' cheapie basses in this section of the forum but I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, unless it is a BIN you are flagging up, then you may well be urinating on someone else's bonfire by flagging up every 'cheapie' you come across! There may well be fellow BCers watching some of these basses hoping to bag a bargain; however, if folks come on and shout about this and that bargain then 'potentially' anyone looking in this section of the forum is gonna take an interest and there-by bump the final price up. It might be my personal beef but can people see where I am coming from and try to stick to flagging up bargain Buy-It-Now items? I may well not give a flying fig about this Precision but if I had my eye on a nice cheap Warwick I'd be chuffin well mad as hell if someone came on here shouting, "Look at this!". To offset what I've just said, I'd like to applaud Clarky flagging up the other BIN bargain even if some people thought it was a bit late.... shame on you, at least he spotted it!
 5. Looking at the pics are you sure your singer hasn't got a mouthful of something she wishes to spit out? I wish.
 6. A picture says more than a thousand words!
 7.
Apparently, the sound was better, but the output was reduced compared to the VVT. The prototypes actually had the VVT setup, so it was obviously a bit of a toss-up between the two systems...
It must be possible to wire stacked pots with the x2 volumes on one pot and the x2 tones on the other... Yes / No? It just makes more sense to be able to turn the 2 volumes up/down simultaneously or am I the only one that uses the volume control to make 'swells'? It's the reason that I've changed v/v/t on Jazz basses in the past to v/pan/t, potentially not as versatile as a pair of independent vol but suits my playing so much more. Just an observation, not a dig at anyone else's preference.
 8.
Thanks for the replies guys and did you purchase it 1st hand Warickhunt? If so do you know what year it is just for a lil bit of extra info on this amp?
Sorry can't help, I got it used. IIRC doesn't the serial number have some reference to the year of manufacture?
 9. I was admiring the pics of this P bass when I noted the image of the truss rod adjuster/end of neck... not much Rosewood left after the neck was made true! http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=525044
 10.
I thought it would only be the correct thing to do (reply that is) seen as Warwickhunt (who owned this before me) has already posted in here
I hadn't realised that this was actually my old amp! Small world. There are a few times I've considered getting this back as I always liked the tone of the H&K BassBase series. I'll add my luck to Jamie's and this should go soon.
 11.
Isn't $300 for shipping a wee bit excessive? IIRC the last bass I had shipped to me from the US&A was $150 by USPS and was here in 6 days.
Some USA sellers are a bit of a pain in the rectum when it comes to shipping but I suppose 'each to his own' when it comes to using a particular courier. However I have had basses shipped from the States (bolt-on necks removed) and shipping has cost £50-$70! I tend to think that shipping UK to The States is more expensive but I've shipped a couple of expensive (NT) Warwicks over the pond with full insurance and it cost about £100, shipping was 3/5 days door-to-door... not bad when one was delivered Boxing Day!
 12.
At least it's cheaper than this one.
That's our 'silly' German friend again!
 13.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Squier-JV-Series-57-...%3A1|240%3A1318 I refuse to believe that a Squier JV precision could be worth that much. As I've posted a few times today mine cost me £149 in 1984....and it needed refretting after a few months - the original frets seemed very soft- and proper setting up to make it playable....I wonder how much mine might be worth these days?
Many of us have owned Squier JV's (inc me owning one of the big Fender logo ones) and yes back in the early 80s paying the price that you say because ultimately they were cheap Fender copies. TBH the consensus is that JVs are worth what someone is prepared to pay! Colour, condition/originality, exact age etc. all affect value. A collector might pay over the odds for the likes of this bass that you have highlighted seeing as how it is an early one with the big Fender/small Squier logo but many players will view it and think "right, what would I pay for an 82 Fender Jap bass" in which case quite frankly anything running above a few hundred quid is overpriced. Some of the early JVs may well p*ss all over some of their Fender counterparts of that period for build quality but the silly pricing of them is down to collectability and more than a few '40 somethings', with disposable income hankering after the bass of their youth. Supply and demand! As to what yours is worth... Genuinely, to me as with any JV about £300, to some on this forum possibly more (and a few would say less) and on eBay... I've seen them go for £275 (an 82 but not big F logo) and supposedly ( who mentioned shill bidding ) as much as £1k for a very early example. Bear in mind that yours is an 84 so I wouldn't go booking your flights to the Caribbean on the strength of a possible big money eBay sale.
 14. It's a minor thing I suppose but really a big Co. like Line 6 should check their facts... I have a Variax 700 bass which has been sidelined for so long that I'd forgotten what all of the sounds are modelled on so I decided to check their on-line manual. As I browsed through I came to the 'Modern' setting, one of which is the Warwick Thumb; dear me... why then have a picture of a Warwick Corvette? As I say not the end of the world and I'm not losing sleep over it but someone, somewhere wants their backside kicking. Anybody else ever found a manufacturers c*ck up?
 15.
bump for little but no interest.... maybe I was slightly hasty with prices and forgot there was recession.... duh! Prices Lowered!
Well the prices are going in the right direction for me but just not quite enough.
 16.
This is quite a cracking amp, however after parting with my Gallien Kruger im actually starting to regret it slightly as this head give a much more 'mellow' tone rather than the ridiculously punchy punk type of tone I was so used too. The valve preamp very nice and when pushed you can get a nice warm overdriven sound! mmmm Iv just had it fully serviced from Rock bottom in Croydon, and so its in optimum working condition. Condition wise it's in very good condition except for a few scuffs due to being kept in a rack case and is also very slightly worn on the rack ears from being in a rack case for such a long time. Other than that it looks superb. So far Im open to offers and Iv really only posted to see if this will generate any interest. Il get pics up at the weekend as im a good 80 miles away at the moment For all the specs take a look at this site ---> Hughes & Kettner basebass 600 Thanks for looking and hope to hear from you Mike
Hey Mike, I owned one of these and they are a cracking amp but not as raw as the GK as you say. Just a pointer but you'll be better off putting this in the 'SALE' section rather than 'WANTED'. A Mod will move it for you if you PM them.
 17. The guy is from my neck of the woods but I can't say I know him but then again I wouldn't if he lives up in cloud cuckoo land. Oddly enough I remember when these were first out a place up here (Grotts Guitars... anyone local remember) got a batch of these exact basses as 'Seconds' (various bits missing, dodgy finishes etc) from the distributor; it may have been JohnHornbySkewes and IIRC it was something to do with a warehouse fire (or they fell off the back of a wagon ). I'm not saying that this is one of those basses and even if it was it could well have been sorted for very little money. Still... a grand!
 18. Before the can of woms is opened yet again! Have a read of these... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=42350 http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...=mixing+drivers http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...=mixing+drivers ... actually if you use the search function you'd be amazed how much info has already been covered on the subject of either replacing drivers with non-specific drivers or with mixing the size of the drivers used in a rig. Happy hunting.
 19.
P.S. I can do Paypal too but buyer will have to pay fees - sorry.
You can send funds to someone via Paypal as a gift (or something like that), it is an option that the sender has and there are no fees incurred by either party... a public service announcement from WH!
 20.
15.6Kg. Even I can carry it one-handed. As well as the case, UL902 and tuner, that figure includes a 1U 13A power strip along the back and the speaker cables inside
Under 16kg... Not bad at all! With a healthy output into those cabs I can't see that lacking in any department. I realise you've not had the rig long but would you gig one cab for small venues or will it always be the pair?
 21.
After a fair amount of selling and saving I've finally cracked it. Lightweight and wicked.
That does look tidy and as you say a reasonable weight, very nice. Just out of interest what is the combined weight of the 902, tuner and case?
 22.
Three of those necks are totally redundant anyway. It's got to be just a shop window marketing exercise. Load of old knob. Now this is more like it...
IIRC wasn't that bass owned by Roger Newell who used to edit/write for 'Bassist' magazine and who was in Rick Wakeman's touring group?
 23. Is the active preamp the stock Fender one or have you upgraded to Seymour Duncan? I'm interested so could you supply a few better quality pics please?
 24.
can you believe it.......... something with more neck that John you'd certainly have concerns about the weight of that fellow......
I aspire to have more neck than that! If I only had to play an instrument for one song and then a roadie would stagger away with it, I'd manage somehow.
