1. I agree 6 necked guitars are absolutely STUPID... 5 necks, now that's a different matter!
 2. Bass gigs are relatively easy to come by but if you never want to be out of work learn piano/keys!
 3.
When i was starting out i got my first bass in 83, a squire p bass from rhodes in denmark street, anyway, always regreted selling it, and this one came up, 2 years newer but cool! I love the older fenders, and they always hold value. I have to say for sound, the warwick i now have is stunning, and the new neck profile is ace, but i do love the older fenders. Most of the stuff i play (chic etc) it suits perfect. Looking forward to getting it.
This poor P bass looks like it has been swiftly sidelined by a nice CS Jazz!
 4.
My RS4 59Burst is light as a feather.....
I'm really kicking myself for not trying your bass on Sunday. Another time maybe!
 5.
Warwickhunt is looking after yer old red streamer,,,, like he had given birth to it himself
The odd thing is that Lee's old red Streamer was originally 'my' old red Streamer, which had previous to me, been Dave Wilson's back in 1990 when it was eau natural! A scarily small world. Never mind giving birth to it I was keeping one eye on our Ampeg wielding friend Craig, who had taken a bit of a shine to it (not in this pic though)...
 6.
Bass is sold to me! Great bass at a great price.
A bit 'different' to some of your recent basses!
 7. Absolute pleasure to deal with Steve. Concluded the deal quickly and the bass was even dispatched the day payment was made. Even though the bass took a little knock in transit, Steve and I came to a very swift and amicable agreement. Many thanks Steve.
 8.
Thanks again to WoT and Warwickhunt for the organisation etc. and thanks to Dave Wilson for the kind donation to the running of the event.
I'll 2nd that; a big thank you to Michael for organising the venue and advertising/plugging, with a special tip of the hat to the ever generous Dave Wilson for the 'sponsorship' BUT it wouldn't be a bash without those who took the time and effort to attend... Jesus H Christ this is a minefield I feel like I'm now dissing those who couldn't attend! You all know what I mean!
 9.
i wish I could move my fingers as fast as my head so that they too would become a blur,,LOL!
I dunno like Mark between you and your 'ahem' Northern friend Thom, you had a fair old rate of thumbing going on... Ooooh that sounds a bit rude!
 10.
some nice gear there, but the notts one was better! (haha, i joke). What's that little amp though next to the bongo? Looks like an eden or something...
Phil Jones Bass, not sure of the model... is it the 'briefcase'? I'm sure the owner Ba55me15ter will elaborate.
 11. Well done Michael, a cracking day! Mind I think GAS has been prematurely induced in a few people. Unfortunately, my mate Craig (non-BassChatter, 3rd pic down on post #121) has been swayed to the dark side and despite my best efforts has decided that his first bass will be... a Fender! No accounting for taste!
 12. Oh my rant extends... The dip sh*t claims to be an 'official dealer' (I assume of Warwick basses), in which case why did he buy this bass (check his feedback) in Nov 08 from an eBay seller (rbmusicstore)? If you check out the original sale of this bass you'll see that 'Peter' even asks the original seller if they will get a receipt! Not sure that it is strictly legal to retail something on eBay as NEW when it is patently used, even if it has never been gigged. Well at least the original seller of the bass knew that it was Maple. Original sale... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=160299907086
 13. It's a little niggle and hardly the end of the world but it does make me despair when a seller professing to be a dealer/retailer doesn't even know what the body wood construction of their stock is! The seller states the body is Ash... I'm sorry but even the dippiest retailer should know (or at least know how to do a quick Google or visit to the Warwick site) that a SSI has a maple body, I mean ffs just look at it! If you retail instruments (especially when you profess to be an 'official' retailer) then at least learn to distinguish between Maple (especially flamed examples) and Ash. Rant over. 14.
He's nobody's fool
Oh yes he is! I mean isn't... I think!
 15. Please someone tell me that is faked! The first thing that sprang to mind was that I expected to see a stack-knob Jazz if it was 1960... didn't the 3 knob control get introduced circa 62/63? Then my eye was drawn to a whole variety of discrepancies and the wonderful natural wear and mojo.
 16. Deliveries can show 'attempted delivery' even though it has not left the holding companies depot. It basically means that they are processing your fees and a letter will be winging its way to you soon, telling you what you owe! Depending upon how it is sent from The States you can also receive the package as though you have avoided fees but lo-and-behold the invoice/bill can arrive in the post weeks later.
 17. I had a feeling that French pricing and UK values might vary a bit. I've obviously played it and it felt fine/great/fantastic but I can assume that they aren't a dog's dinner when it comes to hardware and electrics?
 18. A bit sketchy with the detail here but I've been offered a Kopo Lina fretless 4 bass in part-ex, but I know nothing about them. I've googled the company obviously but does anyone have first hand experience (especially long term ownership) of these basses and what are we talking about for used values; is £750 a decent relative value for a used fretless?
 19. Al just bought and collected a desk and flightcase, no messing, made an offer and paid asap. All round spiffing fellow. Tall beyond his height, wiser than an old wise thing and not adverse to a bit of p*ss taking! Cheers Al, look forward to meeting again soon.
 20.
Well...for a change, I didn't want a new Bass or to change my strings, and I have a Leatherman already, so I bought a flight-cased Mixing Desk off him. Good nick, even better price. What a stunning Bass Player, handsome beyond reason, all round good chap, and mature beyond his years. (That's another Tenner you owe me, John)
21.
It's those rugged good looks slowing you down.
Rugged good looks, rapier wit, the wisdom that only comes with maturity, taste and charm... all qualities I lack!
 22.
You're in luck! There'll be a few dabblers there (like myself!) but... between Dave Wilson and Howard the Bass Doc, we'll have two of the most respected bass setter-uperers in North-East and beyond!
DOH... must learn to type quicker.
 23.
Out of interest, any of you attendees hot on your bass servicing? I *might* be wanting to get a string action lowered, and some new strings put on but its a bit beyond my skill level so was going to ask around for a suitable shop; given the calibre of some of you lot, figured it was worth asking here first. I say might because I haven't had much of a chance to get used to the bass yet; but HarryPotter clearly has bigger and stronger hands than I do. Oh I'm still driving so my earlier offer of a lift to any needy parties still stands.
Present will be at least a good handful of amateur guitar techies who do there own servicing BUT Dave Wilson does it professionally and if he can't sort you out then nobody can! If you want to speak to him prior to the bash (to give him a heads up that he might need a basic tool kit and get an idea of strings, cost etc.) give BossHog a PM as he may well be traveling with him, alternatively WoT or myself will have his number somewhere to hand. Actually I'm not sure if Howard Satterley (thebassdoctor) will be present, he does this sort of thing to!
 24.
MB1. Blimey!.....Very Nice! Do they do Thumbs in this type of wood?....
They do a Thumb Ltd Ed in the same wood. http://www.warwick.de/modules/produkte/pro...22120&cl=EN
 25.
Nice one, i'll keep my eyes open. Since you are already here warwickhunt, is there any consensus among warwick players on which amp/cab works best with the signature warwick sound?
If only it were that simple! Seriously though, what we each hear and want to hear out of our gear is so personal that the sky is the limit. I love my Warwicks through the Thunderfunk and Aggie cabs I have at the minute but I've equally had a quality tone from Glock, H&K... you get the picture.
