1. Price will motivate more/better. <edit> DOH! Price is up there, just not looking!
 2.
I got BGM this weekend, didnt have a chance to read about Tecamp, i think they are fairly new not sure i'll get much luck getting them second hand.
For Tecamp also see Tech Soundsystems; same company different name. They've been going years and the later 'neo' Tech Soundsystems cabs are essentially identical to the recent Tecamp neos. They also do a 'budget' range under the SECO brand (http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=39142&hl=seco not a 2x10 but you get an idea of spec and weight).
 3.
Does anyone here know anything about Lane Poor pickups or know of a good source of information? I only heard of them recently but apparently they were meant to be rather good. (The person 'Lane Poor' has apparently disappeared off the face of the earth, but the legend of his pickups still lives on). Any info will be gratefully received.
Loads of info over on TalkBass, IIRC there is even someone who worked with/for LP who is replicating his pups... again search TB and you'll dig up a bit.
 4.
So much nice stuff out there going for a song!
Unless of course your the one looking, then you can NEVER find the bargains!
 5. Here is the wiring schematic, you should be able to suss it from here. http://www.warwick.de/media/manuals/Electr.../60014%20DB.pdf
 6.
dunno why the j pup has been turned upside down, the bass is £350, ive asked the seller for some detailed photos as im not sure if i still want it because it was advertised as a proline not a modded standard, anyways the guy is being a bit arsey so its probably best i just pull out of the deal cos if i travel the 5hr journey to pick it up and it turns out to be a pile of crap i will end up with a sore knuckle for sure
I agree that if he's pratting about and the bass isn't on the doorstep (and cheap), I'd not bother. re. the Proline / Standard - Though not an expert on the BO Corvette range, I think effectively the only difference is that the Proline was an active Corvette that was discontinued. The Standard is their starter Corvette but is passive. If the guy has turned the bass active then it would essentially be a Proline BUT at the end of the day it is a modded bass so is only worth what someone is prepared to pay. Just out of interest what are 'unmodded' Proline's going for?
 7. I was puzzled when I read your first post but when I've seen the pic you hit the nail on the head it's a modded bass NOT factory. That's not to say it won't be a half decent bass 'for the right money', certainly a step up from any of the Rockbasses but I'm not so impressed with the positioning of the extra control. Oh and why is the neck pup installed the wrong way around? It doesn't make any difference tonally but the wires will have to run the length (width) of the pup before going out of the rout and it just looks wrong!
 8.
ya know I thought it was a Glaub when I first cast my eyes on it... but they assured me it was a limited edition - I have questioned them on this.
I wonder what differentiates a pre-production DD from a BG then? It would make more sense if it was a pre-production BG.
 9. Forgive my ignorance but if it is modeled on Duck's bass shouldn't it have a Rosewood/block neck? I'm no expert on Laklands or DD but it seems that is more akin to a Glaub bass!
 10. Is this the latest model that goes to 1000w @ 2.6 ohms?
 11. I take it the realistic reserve is the starting price of £3k! If not he doesn't quite grasp how ebay works. I'd love to own BF's bass but tbh I'd have to gig it and I'm not paying £5k for a 70's P bass!
 12.
I've decided to install a lipstick J-PUP on my Telecaster. I think this is the best balance between getting a slightly more versatile sound and not destroying the aesthetic and feel of the bass too much. I was sure Fralin did one but can't find any evidence (have they discontinued or was I dreaming)? I know Kent Armstong have them, anyone have any opinions on these? Any other lipsticks I should consider? Anyone got one they don't want? Cheers Chris
I don't know how easy they'd be to find Chris but Warwick did an MEC lipstick pup for their Fortress Flashback bass. It might be worth a punt on the Warwick forum, if you can't be ars*d to register I can stick a thread up for you if you want!
 13.
Swapped from what to what? I'm just about to remove the Lindy Fralins that came in it and install some Aeros that arrived from Hawaii yesterday, to get it back to stock. I have no means of recording anything however.
i.e. Fralin to Aero or Lakland, EMG... anything. I know that sounds vague but I've swapped pups on Warwicks in the past and I had a Stage I that sounded exactly the same (to the human ear) no matter whether it had EMG MEC or Barts. A bit odd I know but it was the same when I swapped MECs in a Warwick Infinette for Wizard Overwounds, the difference should have been noticeable but it was a very subtle difference YET I've swapped pups in Jazz basses quite a few times and the difference is always audible... I'm wondering if the BO v NT difference could have something to do with it? Anyway! I'm just thinking out loud and asking if people have noticed 'big' differences when they've swapped out Lakkie pups or is the difference very subtle?
 14.
bear with me - I'll take a look
Nice one. Just as an aside; has anyone swapped pups on their DJ and got recordings of before and after? Obviously pup selection makes a difference in a bass but I've known some basses where it makes a bigger difference than it does in others.
 15. ... without the pickguard on? Are there any routs underneath the guard that prevent removing it? Any owners with pics of a DJ sans guard?
 16.
The back/rear/bridge pup on some sets of pups is marginally wider than the front/neck pup

+1 A rear Jazz pickup will be slightly longer than the front, and this is just due to the pole pieces of the front pickup having to be slightly closer to each other because of the change in string spacing the further down the bass you get.
It wasn't until you used the term 'longer' that I realised that I had used the term 'wider', I obviously meant the same thing because the pups aren't in fact any 'wider' if you are talking the distance across them... Argh this is doing my head in! wider / longer / longer / wider / whatever
 17. The back/rear/bridge pup on some sets of pups is marginally wider than the front/neck pup
 18. You snooze, you lose... can't believe I just picked your text up mate, I guess that's pay back.
 19.
Most singlecuts remind me of a Sperm Whale, the MM included. My avatar on the other hand is the way to do it methinks. Peter
So is yours more Killer Whale or Narwhal then Peter?
 20. I liked a couple of your lines particularly coming up to the bridge, though I thought that you looked a bit early into some of the apexes... then again I've never been around Oulton Park. Oh and congrats on the compliment from PW.
 21. Just done a couple of deps for bands and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge so as I'm not overly burdened with gigs at the moment I'm open to offers. Been gigging for (cough) nearly 30 years so I have plenty experience. I'm not a reader so realistically we are talking classic covers of which I know a fair few but I'm also pretty up to date with newer material. Good gear and transport but that doesn't mean I'll do 150 mile round trips for £25 gigs. If you're stuck for the odd gig (bassist ill/holiday) give me a shout.
 22.
He He,, there like estate cars to me, they just dont look right..
See I just think Estate cars look good and saloons etc just look wrong... but I also own a single-cut! Is there some correlation?
 23.
Top bloke to deal with and a cracking price... shame I've passed through my fretless stage.
Now... how much to have this fretted!
