1.
Hi! In my experience it might be that your strings is too close to the pickups, so that the preamp get to much signal, creating distortion. The fact that you don`t get any distortion in passive mode supports this! Kroogie
The strings would need to be virtually lying on the pups (actually even then I doubt it would happen ) for that to happen. The EMGs MECs Barts that came fitted to Thumb basses could be so close to the strings that you had more worry of your strings rattling off the pup covers and carving them up than you'd need to worry about distortion. In fact I have my Warwicks set up with approx 4-5mm of clearance, all except for the $$... that 'needs' a bit more clearance as they are big old magnets in there! A sensible suggestion and I appreciate that magnetic pull, wolf-notes and distortion can be a result of string proximity on some basses but rarely an issue on 'most' Warwicks, especially Thumbs. The distortion in passive mode can point to a lot of other causes to.
Throw a Streamer my way and you'll find out .
Unfortunately the only spare ones I have are a fretless and the Ltd Ed!

    Gone.

You are a swine Josh. I wonder if this would be better than the last one I tried...
  4.
Ah, I'm with you now. I almost had a special moment in my pants. I understood you perfectly, but I'm a fellow NE-er (although I live 20 metres south of the Tyne...). I think the vast majority of the denizens of the interwebs would understand "I've already tapped Alex" to mean that you had... (how can I put this politely and delicately?) ...ploughed him.
Gah Ungh Wah No not that kind of 'tapped' saying that... would that get me a cab?
  5.
It'll be far too much fun with valve amps to not make it available! Aaaargghhh! Gutted I can't make it over to the bash, and I'm only 30 miles away. Is it actually going to be ready for 1st March?

No, it's coming as in going to stay part of the line-up, whilst I think I might completely drop the 2x12" cabs - why use two twelves when you can use one fifteen and save weight and cost? It isn't going to be at the NE Bass Bash though! Alex
Sorry if I caused any confusion there Alex. To clarify; I did ask Alex if there might have been a cab or two available for attendees of the NE bash to try but Alex is trying his best to complete orders for people asap so it would be unrealistic to expect him to drop paid work to let a few greedy Geordies paw over his cabs. As you were!
  6.
I was sooooo tempted! - nomorebasses nomorebasses nomorebasses!!
Ditto! Just goes to show the true value of some things as I'm sure there were a few of us watching it but absolutely nobody dipped into their pocket. Daft thing is that the guy would have been lucky to clear £450 after the various eBay and PayPal fees!
  7.
Not a problem now. I'm doing the sound for a Club Band on the afternoon, so I won't be there.
You f*ckin f*cker you, how dare you not attend. You can manage to make it to the last one in the depths of winter, in the snow... ON A MOTORBIKE after your car has blown up and yet a little thing like work (patoooh) stops you!
  8.

Hmmm! Have I used a colloquialism unheard of out of the NE? To 'tap' someone = to politely make a request or to ask a favour of.
  9.
No bids yet. . .
No interest @ £500 at all!
  10.
Compacts? Big Ones?
I've already tapped Alex to see if he had anything spare that could find its way to the NE bash but the poor guy is absolutely run off his feet... now if you were to BUY one in time for the bash!
  11.
300 watts at 4 ohms my friend, not sure if it'd cope.
I run a 300w 1x12 cab with a 500w amp and I've run 250w 2x10 cabs with 1000w amps in the past and it isn't a recipe for disaster. If that's all that is holding you back, fear not!
  12.
If I was a righty I would have that off you straight away!! such a beauty!!
Hendrix managed somehow... dare to be different.
I can't believe you still haven't sold this. If I had the funds I'd have had it off you already! N
A couple of close calls and I thought I'd had it traded more than once but I'll take the chance on eBay and see what happens. Worst case scenario; I lose a bit of dosh, best case I make a bit of dosh! Either way I know I'm not going to be using it so it may as well move on.
  13. Discount for fellow BCers obviously.
  14.
Where abouts are located mate? Rob.
Hey Rob, just in case Ken's having a kip... Newcastle upon Tyne.
  15. Top bloke to deal with and a cracking price... shame I've passed through my fretless stage.
  16. For any cack handed 6 string players that's a cracking price. Good luck.
  17. Just thought I'd resurrect this as I've just come across the youtube vid whilst looking at something else... VERY different! I take it no-one has one?
  18.
by the way, what are doing taking pics by warwickhunt's farmhouse!!
No but he's using my wife's twin sister as a model.
  19.
If the chain bass > pedals > amp input doesn't work there has to be something wrong somewhere. Have you tried connect the pedals in a different order? The high pitch sound may be due to some pedal going in oscillation. I could be due to long cables between pedalboard and amp. I would try with the Boss Chorus last. It is buffered and with a very stable output stage.
Thanks for that, I was just throwing my situation out there just in case anyone felt that they were the only ones to have this kind of experience (and maybe afraid to admit it ). I may well try and rearrange the pedals but tbh the effects as they are have ran perfectly well into the front end of my last few amps with no issues (and using the same cables) so I assume it is something to do with the TF! However saying all of that the pedals work absolutely fine in the effects loop so I don't feel that I'd gain anything by rejigging to input into the front end of the amp.
  20. With some amps you don't get the choice! By that I mean that my Thunderfunk can not accept the signal chain that goes; bass > pedals > amp input. The pedals are all stomp pedals (Boss Octaver > Boss Chorus > EHM Small Stone > EHM Bass Balls) that you would 'expect' to be able to run in the front of the amp but when you try you get a horrendous whistle (almost like high pitched feedback but I'm no effects guru/techy so no idea if that is what it is). The whole lot sit in the effects loop with no issue!
  21. A bit worrying that the link to Absolute Music Solutions has a statement that you can use 1x8 ohm cab or 2x4ohm cabs. I'd have thought they had that the wrong way around!
  22. Why shouldn't you tune this way... it will confuse the hell out of the lazy guitar player who has to rely on your fingerboard positioning so that he knows what he's supposed to be playing. Why should you tune this way... it will confuse the hell out of the lazy guitar player who has to rely on your fingerboard positioning so that he knows what he's supposed to be playing. I say leave it EADG and when you need that low D grab the E string tuner and give it a twist; anything below D just play higher up! I'm a simple kinda guy.
  23.
Hey everyone, I have recently had brand new POTs put in my Warwick thumb and it seems as if the active circuit of the bass which is controlled by the POTs (obviously!) is creating a distored output?? I have checked the battery but that seems fine does anyone have any ideas?
Other than fitting a fresh battery, regardless of whether the one in there at the moment is new as you can get duffers and seeing what happens in passive mode (pull pot on the volume still?), I'd suggest taking it back to whoever fitted the pots as it wasn't doing it before the pots were changed I assume!
  24.
I'm sorry, but I'm confused. Why aren't there pictures up to commence the drooling?
Lookeee here. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=39917
  25.
I think it's the fact that he's using the middle finger to point Jon, so it looks like he's 'flipping' the camera.
Ahhhh! You see I'm such an innocent I wouldn't know what the f*ck you are talking about.
