I want to be able to turn up the mids. I play mostly on the bridge pickup with full mid and some bass and almost no tone.
Buy the blue one and upgrade the electrics, a used preamp can be had for £30-£50 if you look. Though I have to confess that if I were you I'd run a Streamer with the 2 band EQ and see how you like it as the frequency centres are different for the MEC 2 v 3 band EQ... you might like it.
Basically in. Need to ask the parents, but yeah. I'll chip in. Will it be terribly bad for a 13yr old?
It'll probably be an excellent opportunity/experience. We'll try and rein in Big Al's use of expletives!
Have to go back to 4 strings John - I have my grandchild to think about
Kids, Grandkids... you may as well sell up now mate.

Unfortunately string prices are starting to spiral upward (no pun intended). I just did a quick search on ebay and the price you were originally quoted for a 5string set of EB's is about the going rate, even Stringbusters are charging £21 +P&P. All in all the price may not suit but hardly extortionate prices.
Well he's selling an Ampeg, the bass was owned by Sean Welch of BS and the sellers username is Sean so maybe its the original seller.
Which has to raise the question was there some shill bidding entered into last year.
-
I'm sure this sold on eBay last year along with another ex-BS bass related product (iirc an Ampeg amp). I wonder if this was the buyer or if it didn't sell originally?

I'll state from the off that I am no 'techie' BUT I have hads a bit of 1st hand experience with gear, so my suggestions are based on those assertions. Have you categorically eliminated the fact that the wiring and/or the pots are fully functional and everything is soldered where it should be? I don't know the EMG range that well but a way to check this might be to insert and wire the pups in the other way around (I assume that they are the same size soapbars), i.e. the bridge in the neck position and vice versa. Alternatively is it possible to wire just one pup in at a time and try it in isolation?
I'm looking for a new bass and I need something that ticks these boxes: P + J pickups Completely passive p-ups/electronics 24 Fret neck I'd quite like something vintage but it's not essential. It's fat passive tone with clear highs that I'm after, possibly something that contains a fair bit of maple. Not bothered about weight, ideally don't want to spend more than £1000 but I could go to £1500. Suggestions please The other option I have is sticking some nice passive pickups in my Warwick Streamer but I'm interested to see what basschatters have to suggest.
TBH as I read through your thread the bass that came instantly to mind was a Streamer Stage I with something like 'Wizards' slapped in... then I got to the bottom line of your text. Seriously I think there is only one bass that will fit your criteria; you already own it and the 'upgrade' will cost you £100. Go for it.
Hmmmm yeah that's true... or at least was. I have a new car since the end of last week. I reckon it needs to know the route too. You know me mate I *love* the Warwicks! each of them is a thing of beauty, ...it's like art for me. I want them all. Dammit
Go on, you may as well take it... I promise not to tempt you with another one when you get here.
Q&A re. ending listing early - 'I'm happy to get what I paid for it.'... I'm sure she would be but unless she got it for less than £900 she may be a tad disappointed.
Well it has now passed my estimated £900... there's also an early 90's Streamer on eBay for £950 BIN AND I've just watched an 88 model fetch £1000. I'll wait a few months yet before declaring the bass recession over but it is looking good.
You'll be pleased to know John that with reference my previous post I have actually won the lottery! So will £10 do it then? Beautiful btw. Sorry to hear about your mate. As you know I've been a biker most of my life and it's given me many moments of truly memorable times but when it bits back it can bite hard. Peter
Thanks for the sentiments Peter. I wasn't trying to bring the thread down or go for the sympathy vote by mentioning my friend Carol, it was just as a way of clearing the air in case someone thought I was just trying to 'off-load' basses. Oddly enough Carol is pretty chipper despite having 1.5 legs and has been in the papers a bit lately due to her fund raising for the Air Ambulance, it has even led to a bit of modelling work and she's a very positive person 'because' of the accident.
PM'd
Cheers and replied to.
Hi guys A new streamer has a list price of over 3 grand. My blue one 1991 one was listed at £600 as that is what I paid for it, off of warwickhunt, six months ago. For the life of me I do not feel my one, or this one are worth as little as 600; I did feel it wrong however, to make a profit at the expense of someone else on this board and that is why my blue one was/is as cheap as it is. Thats my ethics or my stupidity and not what a early warwick stage one is worth! Warwickhunt is an honest, helpful and great guy to deal with. And he has some great basses for sale at good prices. Get your PM's to him now!
Hey cheers Luke. I hope you know that I wouldn't have been offended if you'd asked more for your bass but I suppose it is the kind of person you are that you punted it back out for what you got it for. So are 'you' going to be getting the bass that you had your eye on then?
-
So what's the deal with all this selling? Do you have your eye on something else? Had enough of Warwicks? Will you change your name to "Sadowskyhunt" or something?
Tbh a year or two ago it was a bit sad as I got to the point where my personal crusade (spanning 20+ years) to find the best of the best from Warwick led to me starting to collect Warwicks for the sake of being able to say that I had more than anyone else! However, after holding a friend together after a near fatal motorbike crash the status of owning stuff has kinda lost its appeal and owning a particular bass doesn't mean much anymore.... I can sound like a bag of shyte on most basses. This epiphany has allowed me to kind of settle on the amp & cab that I have at present and virtually any of the basses that I have will give me a decent tone, so I'm going to keep a couple of the less luxurious models and just have a dabble with a few basses bought from the 'pot' that I will have from these sales. Sadowsky you say... hmmm!
Love the 2-stringer
It's a Warwick rip-off! I actually find many aspects of that quite attractive!
Yes... I'm sure he'd like that. Aaaaanyway... I've redone the poster. I got bored of the old one already.
Those machineheads look distinctly 'Fendery'... has the anti-Warwick backlash started already? Best you try again matey boy with some distinctly 'W' shaped tuners! Nice to see Dave on board, do we have an idea of numbers as we stand at the minute? If it's a hand full it'll be the 'Luxury' pack of biccies if there's likely to be a horde then the Rich Tea and Digestives will be out!

Anyone out there really like inlays?
warwickhunt replied to Annoying Twit's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
MB1. Looks like another Antonatsai bass and if so the price could be a litttle steep!
How long would it have taken the guy to inlay the 'shell'? That alone even at minimum wage would account for a fair slice of cash, the skeleton of the bass may be a brandless BO average bass but at £300 it can't be accused of being too expensive. Ultimately if it plays like a pice of sh*t then it is a piece of sh*t but were I after something to stand out from the crowd I'd give it a second look. -
As with the other basses that I have for sale I've had a lot of interest and interesting offers. I don't want to dick about and mess people round but I'm trying to firm up/confirm one or two offers of trades. However I do have to stress that these sales aren't because I'm suddenly destitute so I'm not giving any basses away. Luke may well have advertised his Stage I bass @ £600 (and sold it quickly ) but I'm not selling my fretless as cheaply (no disrespect Luke ) and my Ltd Ed bass is into 4 figures which may at least settle the matter for a few people. Cheers for all of the PMs and I'll sort this shortly but in the meantime there's no harm in keeping offers coming.
