The serial number reports the place and date of manufacture, all consistent with a GL, but so far no-one can confirm what model that number is for, any where on the net that can correlate Serials to model type? Unfortunately I'd forgotten you can't cancel an auction once someone has bid on it, so our mystery bidder gets to eat his amp after all! I guess I'll have to go through the bidding round.

It is possible...
As WoT says there are ways and means. If you need advice drop me a PM but it is straightforward.
 2.
Yup, all the Geddy Lee's (and some of the other signature models like the Jaco) are made there. I've contacted the vendor, he's happy to let me have it for the BIN price, but I want to be sure it's a Geddy Lee, the bridge doesn't look like a Badass in the pics. He'll be back in Scotland on Tuesday and he's gonna have a look at the bridge. Wateroftyne was right, he doesn't know what it is.
Not the best pic' but it looks like a BA to me. Surely the serial number will allow you to check what it is (loads of websites with this kind of info).
 3.
It's a Big Body man !! It's a smidge under 9lb (on my bathroom scales) as a comparison my Ultra light Sadowsky UV 70 Metro is 8 1/4 lb (as measured by Dave Wilson on his scales) I'd class it as a "good weight" for a Jazz to me that means on the light side of mid weight
Living with this Squier & Lakkie JO I'm kinda getting used to those big old planks! The weight is my main consideration these days, I knew your UV was light but I didn't realise it was 'that' light.
 4. You just know what I'm going to ask... ?lb
 5.
Blimey, arrived at 8.15am this morning, Royal Mail special delivery next day, £24.60. Seems very good value to me. I'm going to clean up the house, have a sh*t, shave, shower and a shampoo, then have the grand opening I love these moments
That is a very good delivery price, especially considering it is a Saturday delivery. Result!
 6.
I quite fancy trying one out, but can't find anywhere that stocks them or anyone selling one on. I tried a GK 700RB last month and it sounded nice, but no 800's. What gives, Basschat?
They are an 'old' model! IMHO by far and away the best amp that GK have made but nonetheless they are an old model. They aren't that rare, I've seen them come up used on a regular basis and at very reasonable prices (compared to the new one I bought 15 years ago ). Keep watching ebay and one will appear soon I'm sure!
 7.
Had some extremely useful info from Eubassix who thinks this is the one he used to have! Amazing eh? Thanks so much for that mate. This lovely Kopo now has a new owner I should hopefully receive it tomorrow!!! I'll put up a small review after I have lived with it. Reckon I may need the Gallery to route a cavity for a second pup though, and I'll probably need the electronics dealing with if I do. We'll see.
Nice one, I wonder if this is the same one that I had offered as a trade a few months ago! Likely it will be as there can't be that many around and it was in my area. Just for my own personal reference, how much extra is the Saturday delivery costing you and who are you using?
 8.
so when do you take delivery?
I just flogged a fretless so I'll need at least... Ooooh, a month before I'm after another!
 9.
Since each Sadowsky neck is hand-fitted to the neck pocket I find it unlikely that the Fender neck would fit very well.

Why don't Sadowsky just make them all the same size (for example on CNC machine), so that any neck can fit any body?
I could be wrong but I would assume that the Metro line (and even the NYC) will have the neck pocket and neck CNCd, the degree to which the NYC basses are hand finished will be reflected in the cost. I'd imagine any difference in pocket fit would be down to tool wear and tear, which would plague any manufacturer; Sadowsky may well replace tooling sooner than others, though this is just supposition. As to whether a Fender would fit I can only imagine that is purely down to the respective manufacturers dimensions... and I've NO idea if a Sadowsky and a Fender are similar dimensions! Go on Chris, you've got a couple spare planks kicking about just whip the neck off and give it a go.
 10.
There you go then, Jon. Forget about a Sadowsky or getting a Custom Build Jazz-just buy this off Michael.
I'll borrow that rusty hacksaw off ya mate; Bob's your uncle F*nny's your aunt I'll have a chuffin great fretted bass... Hmm possibly not if you've seen my DIY skills!
 11.
I blame the parents.
Hang on... at your age you should be blaming their Grandparents! On second thoughts... Great-Grandparents!!
 12. I had a blast on this bass yesterday... tone, action, weight are all spot on and it is lush!
 13.
Baja California is in Mexico John
I saw California and (wrongly) assumed that he was talking about the California situated slightly North of Meh-he-co. I suppose I should have consulted with my old mate Google!
 14. California has slipped into Mexico Can't understand how I didn't notice this on the news! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FENDER-60S-JAZZ-BASS...%3A1|240%3A1318
 15. Interestingly, one of the Mods over on the Warwick forum reckons that Zender can't confirm that the bass was his. http://forum.warwick.de/24-basses/8697-zen...html#post143940 Personally I'd have thought that if Zender 'had' asked someone to sell it on eBay for him and had also originally offered a letter of authenticity, then Zender 'should' have found it fairly easy to confirm that the bass used to be his... you can read into that anything that you like! The seller may or may not have told a fib, either way who cares; someone has bought a nice bass and paid a decent price for it.
 16.
The person you emailed with your questions was probably not Zender, as it is being sold by someone else - who may not know much about basses. I imagine that if it is owned by Zender, he doesn't want to be emailed with loads of questions about things other than the bass sale. The letter of authenticity is still showing as available on the ebay ad I saw. I personally think that the price is fair for the instrument (I have a few Warwicks) , regardless of who owned it previously. I had to advertise my last Warwick ( a six string NT Thumb) a few times so perhaps you are correct, the market is slow, but on the third time, it sold within 30 minutes at the BIN of £1700. Just my 2p so no assassinations please.
No assassinations, this is BC! You must have been looking back at the original listing re. the authenticity letter. Below is a cut and paste from the latest sale... no mention of letter! "Warwick Bass Guitar fitted with L.E.D's on the side (one of the first Warwick basses fitted with them) Excellent condition and hard case is included Used and owned by Stuart Zender (co-founder of Jamiroquai) Used this guitar to record 'Manifest Destiny' on the Jamiroquai album 'Return of the Space Cowboy'. Serial Number: G000865-94 Selling on behalf of Stuart Zender Collection/Postage can be arranged on completion of auction Cash on collection or funds to be cleared before releasing" I agree with you about price (I intimated that the bass should be worth his price back in post #18) and it's a given that it isn't Zender selling the bass. It may well be SZ's bass and it may well be worth a lot more than the selling price, it's just another of those eBay delights.
 17.
Bloody strange I call it. Any luck finding an unlined FL for me, old chap? Cheers.
Lined only old bean!
 18.
Luverly. One of the most under-rated basses ever.....
Cheers. I'm slowly but surely unlocking some of the tones that have been untapped for the last year! It's got such a broad tonal palette with the piezos (with internal trim pots), the 3 band EQ and the blends of either/or, that I'm only just getting my head around what can work for me (unfortunately I have a plug in, turn everything on full and play mentality, which doesn't 'quite' work with the Bolin). It also hits my ultimate criteria of being sweet F.A. in weight. I've yet to find a sound that works well with my full-on 'RAWCK' covers band but the other two projects I'm involved with, the Bolin is coming into its own.
 19.
jesus, £1,220?? I'm surprised with the way the market is at the moment.
Especially as he didn't get a single bite last time when he had a BIN of £1000 (with the afore-mentioned 'authentication'). Nowt so funny as folk.... oh and eBay.
 20.
Nostalgia? Cuh.. it's waaaaaaaay before my time. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...VideoID=6590796 http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...VideoID=6608875
Cheers. I was so hoping it would be 'She was looking back...'!
 21.
Excellent.. cheers, Doc! 'RnB Spitfires' did ring a bell with me... turns out they had some demos produced by Mr. Daggett. Just watching the clips from The Tube now.. mint!
Direct me to these clips please MB... I could do with a drop of nostalgia.
 22. Have you noted on the relist that the 'Zender' bass is no longer offered with a letter of authenticity... Hmm!
 23. It looks like a crack to me and if it has stayed stable for 10 years it may well remain so but you can bet your bottom dollar that if it takes a whack it will pat a lot quicker than if it wasn't there! I'm sure a good luthier could inject something in there to stabilse it further but you have to consider/off-set the cost of repair against what the bass is worth.
 24.
This Kenny Potter chap has totally passed me by.. I see he played with Archie Brown in the past, but who else has he played with? Just bein' nosey - I'm suprised I've never heard of him.
When I were just a nipper (cough) he played with the R&B Spitfires. Great band and cracking bassist. I spoke to Kenny quite recently and he may have lost some Kudos of late as he also... (gulp)... teaches [s]Guit[/s] a 6 string instrument that isn't an ERB!
 25. I have to agree with the general consensus that in the present climate you had best be sure that the Thumb is your dream bass and you'll keep for life because if you are buying new then you'll take a MASSIVE hit if you decide you don't like it. I won't start a debate on the 'vintage' (if that term can be used for an instrument 20-25 years old) v 'new' but I have to say that of the folks who have contributed to your thread you'll find that 90% of them would buy an 'old' used Thumb over a new or nearly new bass any day of the week! They aren't my cup of tea (though heaven knows I've owned enough of them ) but if you take the time to look for a used bass, I can assure you there are far more good uns out there than there are duffers. All that said, if it is new you must have then I can't find a retailer selling for less than £2k.
