Sorry lads, i failed to mention, i can get that amp for £450.00
Sorry to be picky but if you are referring to the H&K 'combo' as opposed to 'amp' be sure to use the correct terminology as they are quite specific and different beasts and in different price brackets. The top of the range H&K gear is quality stuff but I tried one of their mid-priced basskick combos (300w 1x15) some time back and it was poor 'when compared to the bassbase range' (I stress that as it would be fine for some folk but not on the same par as their higher level gear). I would assume that the QC stuff sits in the upper/mid price bracket so should be decent but I'd want to try before buying.

Just out of interest are you expecting to get it for £395? Someone may well be going around to see it and they could be wasting their time... why not wait and see if you win it? If you are the winning high bidder then someone can check it out for you, if it isn't as the seller described then don't pay and neg them, if it is what it appears then pay them. I'm not trying to rain on your parade but you could be building yourself up (and potentially wasting someones time) for a fall if this bass ends up going for stupid money to someone in Europe. Just sayin'!
For what it,s worth, their six strings 'bounce' really well. They take about five throws before they really start to come apart.
Pretty tough then, as I've known Fenders and Gibsons fall apart as soon as they contact with the deck once! Was this yours means of relicing the instrument by the way... a bit radical.
Status? More likely a fender prior to Status making him a bass.

Dressed To Kill (KISS Tribute) - London/Cardiff THIS weekend!
Aye, our attendances range from 70 people to 300 people.... enough to create some noise but not quite 'theatre' size. Personally, I'd say to give the'Greatest Hits' a miss and go straight for 'KISS Alive' & 'KISS Alive II'
Got to agree! Not saying they didn't do anything good after 79ish but tbh I grew up. My 'growing up' remark isn't meant to be derogatory to them, as they'll always be special to me (Wembley 80 is forever burned in my mind... literally as I was pressed up against the barrier when Gene was breathing fire ). -
If you're selling your bass on ebay......
warwickhunt replied to Beedster's topic in General Discussion
Good point and it's worth extending to The USA; I've sold 2 Warwicks (£1000+) to The USA/Canada in the last month. Shipping the first time was £98 but I then tried Transglobal and that was cheaper (a lot cheaper if you don't need big insurance). They have import taxes into the USA but I think a lot of Americans are looking over here for stuff that isn't 'generally' available in The States (your EB/MM may not do as well as say a Status or GB etc.). -
I could watch Sheehan over and over again... in fact I have; as he's been playing the same licks and tricks since I saw/heard him with Talas. That's not a criticism, he's bloody good at what he does and what he does he does well, including all the flash showboating stuff that looks fantastic but has little affect on what he plays. For instance he could do all of that stuff on the Hey Joe clip without any need for the gymnastics and flayling arms but it wouldn't look half as cool. Don't give a t*ss for his beliefs the good thing is I've never known him use his celebrity to foist them onto anyone else. Not saying that he never has but I've not seen it reported. At the end of the day the guy is in his mid/late 50's and he can still put on a show that would stop most bassists in their tracks (agreed there are loads of others who could do just as well, inc. Pino et al), fair does to him and long may he 'entertain'.
Thanks guys...... looks like Warwickhunt is advising me to eat my kabab befor playing instead of after ! I'll let you know how I get on after i've been to B&Q this morning.....
Was that B&Q or BBQ? Burger/sausage fat would work just as well.

Alternatively; liberally rub cooking fat all over your hands before playing.
I reckon I could make it work.
I assume it would have a bolt-on neck when you're finished. -
If you are interested in that one i would suggest you phone and check availability (not buy off the website). Use the phone number on the website not a branch number
... and pay using a credit card.

It might be a trick of the photographic angle but looking at the back of that neck I'm not sure there's enough meat left to work with!
I had a chance to compare my Eden Nemesis NA650 with Johnnylager's new Hartke LH1000 on Saturday. Using John's active Spector bass and with both amps alternating through my SWR Triad, I was really surprised to find that the Eden's inherent tone had more mids in it than the Hartke, and that was with tone controls on both amps set flat. To get the Eden closer to the tone of the Hartke, we had to dial in some of the Eden's 'enhance' control, which is effectively a mid-cut and bass/treble boost..
To further cloud matters... IIRC the Hartke preamp is based upon an old fender/Alembic design and if it follows the same rules as the Tech Soundsystems amp that I owned (which had the same design) then the EQ controls aren't flat when the controls are in the 12:00 position, I think some of the Mesa Boogie amps are also similar This might account for why one amp sounded more middy than the other however because I can't recall exactly what was flat on that system it could well be that the converse should have been true. I'm sure Alex commented in a thread that I had about my amp's EQ (the design of the Black Cat/Alembic/Fender) better than I ever could but a search hasn't helped me find the thread. Of course the Hartke might have a similar preamp but the EQ may have been altered, in which case what I've typed don't matter one jot!
Is this a problem? Here's what Ampeg Support said when about my choice of second cabinet: Hi Rich, The SVT 15E would be an excellent choice to add to this rig. Right now you're only putting out about 375 watts into that 8 ohm 410HE. Adding the 15 will bring your impedance down to 4 ohms and give you the full 450 watts out of the 3 PRO. You'll be getting about 450 watts into a 4 ohm load that is basically 500 + 200 watts. You should be fine! Hope this helps!!!! Feel free to hit me back here anytime! Best Regards, Dino Monoxelos. Global Ampeg Product Specialist. LOUD Technologies Inc. www.ampeg.com
...only if you think it is. If it sounds good to you 'in the situations that you use it' then don't worry about it; unfortunately for you, the seed of doubt is planted!

I'd be amazed if it was the Euro 5... I was potentially going to buy the Euro 4 from them, their price £1467 discounted to me for £1000 and that was a healthy discount!

I've encountered 3 of their guitars in the last 6 mths (my guitar player has just bought a relic'd Les Paul) and they have all played fantastically well, added to which the pups are Wilkinson units and seem to do a decent job! Does anyone have any experience with this brand? I did a search on the forum but you try and search a bass guitar forum using the word 'vintage'... not conducive to an easy search.

Courier points system and courier issues
warwickhunt replied to paul, the's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
+1 for Transglobal (DHL) Delivered a bass to The States (actually delivered 'on' Boxing Day) in 3 days for a total cost of £85 (of which £38 was insurance). Minor glitch/delay when DHL rang me the morning after collection asking for my VAT number, I pointed out it was a private individual -> private individual transaction and they simply said "thanks, bye". +1 for Interparcel Delivered a bass in 2 days when it should have been 24hr but no big deal as cost was £18 inc increased insurance to £350. -
Soundslive.co.uk have 4 LG1000s in stock for £284 + £6 delivery. Some guy on Talkbass (an 11 year Ashdown endorser no less) reckons they sound like a cross between the ABM and Mark King signature series amps. Anyone gonna buy one?
That's not a lot of money for a powerful little amp! I hope they are reliable.
I fancy a change so thinking of selling my Glock head for £950. It is under 1 year old and will come with a 4 unit rack. Checkout ..... http://www.thomann.de/gb/glockenklang_heartrock_top.htm THanks.
Shame you weren't closer (and/or significantly cheaper ). I'd have loved to have done an A/B with my Thunderfunk as my experience with the Glock BassArt makes me think that your amp is 'probably' one of the few amps that might trump my TF (for me anyway)! -
Are you going bass>effects>amp or are the effects in the amps effects loop? You can get different results depending upon how you have your pedals in your set-up; if in the effects loop you may have a series/parallel set or a pad switch to attenuate, you might want to play with all of the permutations!
