1.
Do you need to give it some time John? Are you maybe subconsiously wanting it to dissapoint? I would imagine it sounds a lot different to the Streamer. Maybe it needs to be given a blast in anger? For a P/J I like the pup balance. So often it's weighted towards the P. I'm finding it does a good bridge pup tone as well as a capable more bluesy tone on the neck. I'm using very little boost on the bass and treble at the moment.
You may well be right Peter... again I keep searching for something that is going to knock my socks off in comparison to my Streamer and/or Infinette but I think when you get to this level of bass you are talking subtle 'differences' NOT better or worse; in which case it is going to fail to knock my socks off. Rehearsing tomorrow and gigging Friday so it'll go along with my Streamer and get a chance. The pan between the pups is indeed impressive and despite my initial concerns over no centre detent I actually think it works better without the detent. Heaven forbid I'm not boosting ANY of the EQ... are you mad fella? That boost only cicuit is massive with everything dialled off.
£800? £1500ish from Thomann!
I have a little insider info that the UK prices will be steeper with the latest exchange rate and a new distributor. Thomann may well appear cheap soon!
 2. Hmmm I'm not getting the big Spector love at the minute. Time may well tell but I think it's less of a transition for me as I've so much experience with the early Warwick Streamers and contrary to popular belief the Spector doesn't mop the floor with the SSI they are just... different, yet similar in many ways!
 3.
I think the cab walls are thick enough to drill for casters.
I had a 4x10 TX and I drilled it for (locking) castors no problem. Got the wheels from a Wickes/Homebase or some such store for about £10 for the 4
 4.
I've been trying manfully to send three items sold here via transglobal express - a sales agent for DHL. It's been an absolute nightmare and I've now been stuck in the house for the best part of two days as they simply failed to turn up yesterday. Now, today, they have turned up without the paperwork. The DHL driver is coming back at 2pm to sort things out and hopefully with the right paperwork. I there ANY reliable service to be had?
Interesting as someone pointed me in the direction of Transglobal as a means to transport to the USA relatively cheaply, I'll watch how this pans out!
 5. 'A genuine amount of interest but no offers on the table' type bump.
 6. I wonder if those bulbs blowing is a common occurence as I remember contemplating buying a Fafner 12-18mths ago and the 2 that I was thinking of getting both had blown bulbs! IIRC the bulb doesn't do anything and is just for show, so it didn't put me off but I wonder if they modded the later Fafners? Congrats to both of you, very nice Christmas pressies!
 7.
Only from what I heard they forgot to pay for it
Hence the radical design changes to avoid prosecution... angle the tuners and fit a different bridge!
 8.
I've only just discovered that Warwick copied Spector and not 'tother' way around!
Licensed dear boy... licensed!
 9.
You wouldn't neg yourself would you?! Pluck
Ah good point!
 10. I do have to confess that I find the Warwick 'interpretation', actually made a few minor improvements but hats off to Mr Spector and Mr Steinberger for a fantastic job in the first place
 11.
Yes, it works for larger sums too.
Alas my buyer in the States couldn't get this happening for him so I'm down nearly £100 just from the charges but that's not the worst of it... paypal's International exchange rate doesn't bear any resemblance to any other in the market place! However this isn't a thread about paypal or exchange rates so a quick bump for another gorgeous [s]girl[/s] bass... yes definitely bass!
 12. How come he hasn't had a string of negs over the various past sales of this bass?
 13.
even though ive seen it in the flesh.... picturessss!
Rather than clog up threads with the same pics, mine is here... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=34362
 14. The impostor and the originator... <edit> I've yet to bling the Spector out with the new gold knobs that I have.
 15. I've kept schtumm for a while on this but I do have to break cover and say that I'm over the moon that you have the bass now but I'm probably actually happier with the sentiments behind 'this' thread. I hope everything else in you life at present pans out as well for you Reule. Take care.
 16. As soon as I get strings to match my SSI I'm up for doing a direct A/B recording comparison between the EMG/Tonepumped Spector Euro and the MEC/MEC '90 SSI. That should be quite interesting as acoustically at the moment they are worlds apart.
 17.
Thank you, thank you. I feel better now Beautiful, stunning but not enough gold knobs. Peter
Hmmm thanks for reminding me Peter, I have a set of 4 'new' gold knobs that might look well tasty on my (dark) amber Euro 4.
 18. You bunch of heartless vultures! Well I have it... It is an absolute given that on any given thread on a bass forum if anyone has to describe the neck of a Warwick that the term 'clubby' will be used by the vast majority of contributors... Yes? Well how come this Spector neck is BIG compared to all of my Warwicks? I'm not slating it but it was the very first thing that sprang to mind when I picked it up (the first thing that sprang to mind when I opened the case was Phwarrgh). Nor do I necessarily think it is a bad thing... just unexpected! Quite a Precision(ish) D shape in profile, I've got a mate who I've been meaning to get a micrometer off so it'll be interesting to make a comparison. I've yet to play it plugged in but acoustically it is very different (mellower) to my Stage I which I'll be making direct comparisons with. This could be down to string choice so I'll reserve judgement till I've strung it with the same strings as the SSI (DR Sunbeams). Watch this space.
 19.
Hi John, I think you know they sound better than Warwicks !!!
We shall see... we shall see! I'm going to try and restring it with DR Sunbeams to match my Stage I and do a bit of comparison recording. Then again how do you decide if it is the bass (ie body wood, neck and fingerboard) or the electrics (MEC + MEC 'v' EMG + Tonepump). I am looking forward to this.
 20.
You're not after any (six string) guitars are you? That's about all I have to trade I'm afraid... (Unless you're into mountain biking...) Despite having a 'wick Corvette, I now want another Warwick, so there ARE some people out there who want Warwicks, so don't lose heart...
I have a couple skinny strings (70's Epi Sheraton/Parker Fly P38/Taylor Big Baby/S&P 12 string) for noodling on and for little bits of work so I'm probably OK in that respect but just in case it's something that might float my boat you can PM me what you have. Oddly enough I think Wicks are starting to turn a corner and I've had some interest lately. Christmas is one of those weird periods where there are some tightening their belts to spend cash on their families and a handful of others looking to splash cash to get something for themselves!
 21.
John You never know. It could be the new Dubya?
I hate to ask but...?
Smokin' your supper again?
Kippers
if it seriously turns out you dont like it, then let me know
Stranger things have happened.
May I suggest you put on 'Topic Description' a warning that at this moment in time, it hasn't arrived? Some of us with excitable dispositions, require our expectations ...a little 'managed'.
... but that's the fun of Basschat.
Would you trade it for a bass I haven't got?
Only if you haven't got it on credit.
Would you give it a chance? Don't be scared John, they don't have to fully replace your Warwicks...yet.
Hmmm, you sure.
 22. No pics I'm afraid as I haven't got it yet. Just a preemptive posting Ignore me I'm in a stupid mood!
 23.
I've got 2 knobs from a 1979 Music Man Sting Ray bass. Sorry, I don’t have the third one. Maybe anyone need them. They come with the original set screws. Lookin’ for 70 euros. A picture http://s166.photobucket.com/albums/u118/Si...rrent=knobs.jpg Many thanx!!
If you had the 3rd one... a neck, tuners, neck plate and screws... the body... pick-ups and wiring... a bridge and some strings... maybe the control plate . . . Oh and a bunch of screws etc. you'd have a bass for sale! Just pulling your plonker, this ad might be better off in another section of the forum.
 24.
dont think that ebay seller is RedDogMusic. Tell us about your one warwickhunt!
It mustn't be Red Dog otherwise the bass would be sold but it is one heck of a coincidence. Never mind my bass... it looks like every T, D & H on BassChat is gonna be in receipt of Spectors this week! Watch this thread for a glut of feedback and Spector porn.
 25.
It's not arrived yet. It's shipping today - missed the Friday collection. It's coming TNT and I'm hoping it'll be here on Wednesday. I'm preparing myself for a bit of a culture shock as I've always been into the classic Leo-derived bolt-on neck basses like Js and Ps and Laklands. I liked the feel of the Peavey neck-thru I bought (from WH) but the pre-amp just didn't cut it. Incidentally that bass is now in Southern France with a very happy new owner.
As if on cue, another reminder that I need to rein in some excesses. I was just PMing eubassix about another one of my past basses and commenting that as far as vices go, buying and selling on BC isn't half as expensive as a night out with the lads 'clubbing'!
