Look up Neil Harland or Steve Ireland...
I'm sure I'll upset a whole bunch of bass tutors by just mentioning ONE more but Kenny Potter is worth checking out!

A very [s]sly[/s] clever seller. More fool the sucker who gets drawn in by his response to the questions asked.

I had a custom bass made about 20 years ago (Howard Satterley up in the NE) and I specified Walnut. I went through 3 necks before I settled on the ebony board ESP neck in the pic below (please be gentle with your comments it was some time ago ). I did try a maple board with the all walnut body but it was a bit too in your face, the rosewood was 'very' mellow and the ebony a nice compromise... but remember that is just my taste!
That's great John shoulda known you'd come to the rescue I was thinking along the same lines with sizes and the weight thing. I've already got a 3U Warwick rack bag with the Hartke in it and that'll do nicely. I've order one of these: http://www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk/music...sp?id=3680-4677 and I'll put the Korg and LMII in that and nothing will be jammed in too tightly. Sorted
The LMII and tuner will be fine in a 3U rack but the 4 means you are laughing. I had my LMK in a 3U rack with a tuner and there wasn't a great deal of heat generated, tuners don't get too hot and the lack of depth means that there is a bit of air to circulate in the back. As it happens that rack that you ordered is the same as WoT's and it looked the biz when I picked it up the other day, I particularly liked the fact that with the front and back off there were no metal catches/moving parts on the case to pick up sympathetic rattle. WoT's was quite a deep unit and not as light as some but the LMII and tuner weigh very little any way, so it'll not be as important as if you had something like an Aggie or Ampeg in there.
'Google this'! I'm new to the idea of using a rack case. Is there a problem with using two amps and a tuner in one rack case? (Main and backup). Will a Korg DTR-2000, a Hartke LM500 and a Markbass LMII squeeze into a 4U case. That's it! Peter
Rack cases are great, SKB Gator etc. are all light and durable, WoT has a good un but it is deeper than my Gator. Bear in mind that not only do you get different heights, you get different depths (but none of the items mentioned wouldn't fit in a standard depth). You'll not fit your set-up into a 4U though, IIRC the MB is 2U, Hartke (probably at least) 2U and the tuner 1U. Ideally you might want a bit of air space between them, you need to conside the combined weight to. Individually they might not be much but add in the weight of the case and suddenly you may find it starts looking big and heavy... especially if you allow 1U space between each component; a 7/8U rack is a big old thing!

I like the top and inlays but I have to say the pup selection just looks too busy and cluttered and the BO Thumbs have never looked as elegant as the NT basses. Still a nice bass though!

Considering it's loaded with piezos as well that looks quite handy. Were it a 4 I'd have had a punt to see what it played like.
AHHHH John!! Thats fantastic, ive been gassing for a p bass for a long time now and that would be perfect, it would complement my other basses fantastically, you should hang on to it till my finances improve if indeed that ever happens.(BABIES FIRST XMAS!!!!) the wife is very much of a mind ive too many as is but what does she know. Massive bump for a bargain someone (hopefully me) will be very happy with. have a good xmas John - lee
Hope things are going well Lee. New baby AND new house... you might be a bit optimistic to have ANY funds, at any time in the next 21 years. I'm not about to start throwing basses out of the house so you never know it may still be here next year. Have a good one mate. -
Cheers mate I think your right wax it and enjoy !! I love that BLUE Streamer !! I remember seeing Cass Lewis with Terence trent Darby on video years ago and he had a PINK thumb bass i think it was . Looked the dogs danglies!!!
The blue Streamer is with LukeFRC now (see his avatar posted earlier) and funnily enough that pink Cass Lewis bass sold on eBay earlier this year for not a lot of money AT ALL (in fact it sold for less than you would pay for a used 'cheap' BO Thumb )

Using you fine people for a bit of market research :)

Like several others, I'm a finger-style player who occasionally plays with a pick (when the situation warrants) so a ramp (even removable) would be more of a hindrance than a help. I also tend to play two pup style basses with my favoured position over the rear pup, if I need to loosen up the tone I have the neck pup to anchor on (either pup is jacked up VERY close to the strings so my fingers stop on the pup itself), so I've no need for a ramp. I do own one bass with no pups (Variaxe) but that has a long bar to rest on and the lack of ramp is just something you get used to if you use that particular bass. 'IF' basses had always been supplied with a ramp we may well have a different mindset re. ramps and their benefits but as it happens I think that the target audience for a ramp is quite small! -
I can concur that there is absolutely nothing wrong with this Bass. I had a "widdle" with it at the North-East Bass Bash, and if I had the money, I would have taken his fingers off!
Considering you rode to The Bash on your bike on the coldest night of the year (in snow ), it would be fairer to say that I could have taken your fingers off more easily. -
Lovely news. Here's to getting what we want. As for customs/insurance etc. where and how do I go about dealing with this? My assumption was that the courier company would inform me of all the costs and procedures when I arranged the shipment. Am I wrong? Also, forgive my ignorance, but what is an Escrow service? And what does it have to do with wine? JP
+1 for Reule The customs is basically a ticky box declaration that you fill in on-line when you book the courier (you also declare the value of the instrument so that the recipient can 'if need' be taxed by their appropriate C&E). Insurance is something the courier firm will offer on top of their usual paltry £50-£150 standard insurance. Elect not to take it as and how you feel with regard to insurance in general; I've never had to claim on my household OR car insurance in over 25 years but you can bet your bottom dollar the year I decide not to take it out my house will burn down or in the case of my car (aside from getting done for no insurance) it will get TWOCed Ignore my quip about wine. An ESCROW service are a company that will hold the buyers funds in safe keeping until such time as they receive their item and when the buyer is satisfied they (the ESCROW company) release the funds to the seller. You pay for this service obviously (hence my wine charge if I do it for you) but at least the buyer gets peace of mind. Never used it myself and I've heard of a few cowboy/bogus companies so I wouldn't know who to recommend.
quite a while ago i was using my bro's b-10 at a gig and the g string ripped through the nut. since then i got a replacement nut but the bass needed setting up so i let my dad have ago at doing it. sadly, with my dad being a retard, he forced the truss rod in the neck and i heard about 3 cracks comin from the neck. does anyone know where i can get hold of a cheap B-10 neck? i really wanna get it fixed cause it sounds f***in awesome! ! ! this is it in action goin through an ashdown electric blue http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=la7GLjEBesA please excuse backin vocals lol
When you say you 'heard' cracking coming from the neck, is it defo fecked? You can hear creaks and cracks if a rod hasn't been adjusted for a while but it doesn't have to mean worst case scenario.

Well I convinced myself I needed one and I got one... now it's up for sale! I have to stress there is nothing wrong with the bass; I just bought it thinking that aesthetically it would suit my latest band better but hey... it isn't Warwick shaped! The original listing is here - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;hl=precision Since I bought this I've seen a whole bunch sell on eBay for a lot more than what I paid for the bass but I'm not after profit, I just need the funds to purchase a bass that is Warwick shaped. £325
Ahhh I'm not in the que for courting Sarah5string . It's a lwed refernce to one of your many "children" though.
I'd watch it Josh... children have a habit of growing up and leaving home. As it happens I've sourced a couple likely candidates but unfortunately the bass that is the right colour is the wrong price and the bass that is the right price is the wrong colour...
That's a good point, I was thinking about it the other day. Has he gotten it yet? I've not read anything about it, but then again, I'm pretty oblivious at times.
He should have it in a couple of days.
