1. If anyone is interested in a little bash (very low key) and would like to try out some of the gear 'good/bad/indifferent' that some of us have, then WoT and I are looking at getting together on Thurs 27th. It would be in Blyth, kicking off around 6.30 and would be wrapped up by 9.00 at the latest. It will be at my place of work which means you can crank stuff to your hearts content but you'll have to respect the fact that it'd be no smoking and the best beverage you'll get is a glass of water. I know Neil is interested in trying my Thunderfunk and I'll have my Aggie DB12's there; I think WoT was talking about bringing his Schroeder 4x10 and his Boogie. No pressure and certainly no egos. If you fancy bringing along your 80watt 1x10 'no-name' practice amp and seeing how it sounds in comparison to other stuff that is absolutely fine, it'll just be a chance to have a blather, talk sh*te and try a few different combinations of amps and cabs. Sign up below and I'll PM you directions and my mobile number as you'll need it to get into the place.
 2.
Hi guys, I was wondering if you could please give me some help. Do you know where my old 'P' bass is now ??????? I bought it in the 1960's and sold it in 1972 to an old guy who lived in the Chadderton or Failsworth area of north Manchester, if the bass is still knocking around I would love to know what became of it. Originally it was a sunburst, I resprayed it powder blue. It has a tortoise-shell scratch-plate, rosewood fingerboard and very very worn frets. This bass was played from the early 1960's in the following bands:- Lee Fender and The Top-Liners. Dave Blakley and The Sky-Liners. Deek Rivers and the Big Sound. The Manchester Big Three. Mike Cadillac and The Manchester Playboys Barry James and the Strangers (The Barry James show) Glynn Ellis and The Jets (who reformed and became Wayne Fontana and The Mindbenders, my brother Bob joined them and I went to Germany with The Burnetts. Neil Landon and The Burnetts (the Noel Redding connection) ******************************************************************** So if you can help I would be very grateful and thanks for reading this. Also if any of the band members and friends from those great days read this it would be great to hear from you. Thank you. Kevin Lang. m: 07860 587 999
Hi Kevin. I think your ebay ad has been picked up on already. Good luck finding your bass and/or bandmates.
 3. Withdrawn from eBay... is it sold or have you changed your mind?
 4.
Posted on the "So long and thanks" thread as well but just in case .. Glad you have not gone totally... If you are still reading this can you help identify this one as the seller doesn't know what model it is. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...20&start=20 Would you care to tell us where the others went? (basses) Thanks OG
Sorry OG but your link goes to the BC homepage!
 5.
Hold on to it mate, I'm considering selling mine again due to some problems Will hold on to it either way though as Warwicks overall seem to be unpopular at the moment. Saw one on ebay recently that didn't shift for £600 (5 string BO)
Or worse still, a 5 string NT that went for less... £522 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=001
 6.
i mentioned you to Paul..but as i dont know your name it was diff to describe you! haha
Good point...
 7.
Ok thats great thanks, to be honest im thinking somewhere between £600 and £700, obviously the closer to 700 the better. Though the ebay link is a bit damming do you think worst case its likely to go at £600? Thanks
No I think worst case it won't sell or if it has no reserve then it may well achieve £399... I personally think 'best case' it will go for £600! Just an opinion.
 8.
Hi, im thinking of selling my warwick thumb 5 string and would probably be looking for a quick sale, but with the current state of the market i dont know if its worth holding onto. Ive seen on the forum one for £850 so i was thinking £700 would be a good figure for a quick sale, but yet again with the state of the market am i thinking sky high and if so what would be a more reasonable figure. The bass is in good condition and was made in 2002. Thanks for any help. Sean
It's always a mistake to ask for comments about price as you'll rarely get someone telling you its worth a wedge more than you anticipate! If I was looking to buy and haggle you down I might well point you in the direction of this recent ebay sale; £399 for a BO 4 string... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WARWICK-THUMB-BOLT-O...1QQcmdZViewItem However I could equally find a couple of NT Thumbs from the same period that went for £850 - £900. Are they worth double what a BO is worth? You might well strike lucky and sell for £700 but if you don't need to sell I'd just hold on to it... saying that it may be some time till this recession breaks!
 9.
These do look really nice. There's one in a shop near me in black/white/maple but it's about 1100 quid I saw a review of one in a mag. I think it was Guitar and Bass Magazine but I've just had a quick flick through the pile and I can't find it. It was that exact model you've pictured. IIRC the review wasn't exactly glowing. It criticized the relicking for looking a bit artificial in places and ESP had curiously lacquered over the worn away bits so that it wouldn't relic any further. They said it was well made and had some good sounds but for the money there are better alternatives. I'll try and dig the mag out if I get time.
Nice one! It does seem odd to lacquer the relic'd finish but it is just for show so I'm not too fussed about that but if there are other 'issues' then that's a different matter.
 10. Well it's bid up to £1500 with an hour to go and the seller is fielding questions quite well, so I hope the prospective new owner is sure of what it is they are buying!
 11. I'm after a 3 tone sunburst, Precision bodied bass preferably with a Jazz or 2nd Precision pick-up in the bridge position (hankering after a bass I owned in my youth). I came across the ESP Vintage PJ bass and wondered if anyone had any experience; build quality (I've owned several ESP aftermarket necks and bodies and they were 'good'!), pups, weight, playability... generally any comments greatly appreciated. Better still has anyone seen one used in a shop. Thanks
 12.
whoa! you're in the Quireboys!!!? how cool is that?! excellent band peace c
Small world JJ, I didn't make the Quireboys connection. I've known Guerin since school and oddly enough he's invariably in some pub or other that I'm playing at when he's back visiting his hometown... bit of a stepdown from me coming to see the band he's in!
 13.
im sat on the fence. although mainly for having no money and no basses you would want rather than any other reason. I just like looking at pretty basses in the for sale forum!
Hey Luke, you of all people are welcome to have a mess about on pretty basses in 'chez WH' if you ever pop down country to Geordieland.
 14. I've got a cash offer and one potential swap, anyone sitting on the fence over this before I 'try' and wrap something up? Speak now or forever...
 15. In the present climate he's done well to get £310 for that!
 16.
Hi chaps, does anyone know what this is really worth? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Warwick-5-string-fre...A1%7C240%3A1318
I'd say the seller may break lucky in the present economic climate but that's about what it's worth on an average day! But Hey stranger things happen on eBay... it may end up going for stupid money if an idiot and a shill bidder get started.

 18.
He has already stated he is at music live playing so I guess that may be a good enough reason would you not think!
Well spotted that man, I knew there'd be a reason.
 19.
If i click on that link i get a 404 page, strange.
The listing(s) been pulled.
 20. I'm no techie but I'm fairly certain you'd have to change the fuse rating... don't ask me what to coz like I said I'm no techie.
 21. Saying that he's also got a 62 P bass for $1300... and a 76 Thunderbird for $1300... and a 65 EB-3 (which looks remarkable like the T bird) for $1300... and a Yep you've guessed it a whole shed load of vintage and expensive instruments all available for a BIN of $1300 if you contact him at the supplied email addy. Scammers really can be complete f*ckwits!
 22. The seller plasters 'contact me first via email before bidding or I'll cancel your bid, as I'll sell it to you for $1300', now that's a big ebay no-no! However the actual Entwhistle Buzzard bass signed by Hans Peter Wilfer and presented to the seller by Chris Entwhistle... that's some bargain then. OK everybody sing 'Scam scam scam scam' to the tune of Python's Spam song. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2003-ltd-edition-War...1QQcmdZViewItem <edit> Ooops I've just realised that the seller doesn't actually say this was Entwhistle's bass (difficult as he died in 2002 and this is a 2003 bass). So 'maybe' this is a bargain.
 23.
waste of space - and time
A bit harsh maybe! The guy might work away from home, alternatively he could have issues with Internet access... mine was down for a while due to BT being sh*te
 24.
Is there anybody out there
I'm still waiting for pics and prices so I assume Jim's a busy man!
