With wolf notes the obvious one is pup height but what one person describes as a wolf note might be something completely unrelated... Have you tried tuning your bass a tone lower and identifying if the 'noise' is affected in any way (moves to a different point on the neck/goes away); you could also use a capo to eliminate if it is a rogue fret not quite seated correctly. Just throwing ideas out.

I had one of these a few years ago and I'd own another in a shot, but what ever you do get the schematic for the internal preamp dip switches (I may even still have the pdf) before you start messing about with the options! I had mine totally disassembled as it had quite a bit of flaking to the lacquer (not uncommon) and I was stripping the body wood back (bubinga) and oiling it. When I put it back together I started messing about with the EQ options and there are certain combinations of dip switches that give you a feedback loop not good if you have it plugged into your amp and turned up. If you are into headless style basses these really are a great alternative to Status etc. <edit> Mine was probably one of those few on eBay.

This has been discussed on here before (not a criticism, just a comment) and you may notice the pics don't tally, one set of pics the bass has the bent plate bridge and the other it has a BA... draw conclusions!

I know this is a bass forum and there'll be plenty of comments re. Tal but it has to be said JB is one phenomenal guitarist! I can't think of many guitarists that can still cut it now as good/better than they did 'way back when'. I'm not saying he's 'good for his age' or anything ageist like that, he is fantastic; full stop but when you do draw comparisons with his peers you have to agree he is special... yes?

I've PMd you and shown interest! However the 'price' at which the interest turns into a sale is another matter. For my £0.02 worth I'd have to say that the RHT inlay and provenance of the bass doesn't add a bean to the price, in fact if anything it makes it a bit too personal. I'm also 'intrigued' to know what LP's sound like but if they were taken out of the bass and replaced with something quality and the price of the bass was reduced by £400... Hmm I really don't know!

Well someone must want it pretty badly, it's up to £3500 with 4 days to go! I sure hope the winner knows his stuff when he goes to collect, as I'd want to be ABSOLUTELY certain that was original and genuine for that much money.

[/quote] Sorry that wasn't meant as a dig at you or anyone contesting the thickness of warwick necks. I'm simply thinking that it might be of interest to none-Warwick bassists. Tauzero, Finnbass and myself (amongst others) all have early Thumb basses that have really slim necks but if short-scale is a pre-requisite then Thumbs probably shouldn't be on your shopping list!

I'm hopefully going to be borrowing a micrometer and measuring the necks of my Warwicks and putting the results up here and contributing them to a thread on FB. Obviously this won't map the neck profile but it'll give people the width and depth @ 1st and 12th fret so that they maybe can compare it to their present bass.

It is just a humble opinion but I don't think that GK have ever bettered the 400/800RB (sorry 700/1000/1001/2001 owners ) and I'd be interested to hear how this stacked up against some of the competition.

I base (sic) all of my car purchases upon whether x, y or z bass equipment will fit in the boot and I have to say that of the estate cars available the Ford Focus takes some beating for car size v available space and YES it will take a standard sized bass case width wise in the boot with the seats in the upright position. There are loads of bigger cars that actually can't stack up against the focus (and Astra coincidentally but you have to watch out for which Mk you get, same with Focus actually, newest ones aren't as good) and if overall size/insurance/petrol/etc etc are important considerations then look at the Focus and Astra.

Where did you get it from and if you don't mind, what price?
