Can someone tell me what this is?
He's selling a few things, including a bass that was posted on another thread where he states, "This is a new ebay account and i have over 400 positive feedback on my other Ebay business account." Then why make a new one?
I didn't even twig that it was the guy with the 'suspect' 64 Jazz for sale... small world! -
No, but if you ever get them, please do us a review!
+1

It is just a humble opinion but I don't think that GK have ever bettered the 400/800RB (sorry 700/1000/1001/2001 owners ) and I'd be interested to hear how this stacked up against some of the competition.

I base (sic) all of my car purchases upon whether x, y or z bass equipment will fit in the boot and I have to say that of the estate cars available the Ford Focus takes some beating for car size v available space and YES it will take a standard sized bass case width wise in the boot with the seats in the upright position. There are loads of bigger cars that actually can't stack up against the focus (and Astra coincidentally but you have to watch out for which Mk you get, same with Focus actually, newest ones aren't as good) and if overall size/insurance/petrol/etc etc are important considerations then look at the Focus and Astra.

Where did you get it from and if you don't mind, what price?
Is that the Wilkinson ones like they put on new 'Vintage' basses, they pivot in the middle to give awkward intonation adjustment on both strings, hence brassy pivot in the middle.
That would make sense and if that's the case then I have learned my new thing for the day as I've I've never seen those before. I feel better now! -
Noticed this over on TB... http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=479607 Is anybody a fan and fancy taking this opportunity?
Looks like a pair of saddles pictured from the underside, Maybe 2 strings per saddle type, like a 51 precision?

They look like saddles for an early Fender style bridge – one of the ones that had two strings per saddle:
That starts to make sense, I never considered the E/A D/G style early Fender saddles. What's that brass disc then and why the heck won't he post these out? -
Maybe I'm just a bit dozy this morning but I can't for the life of me figure out what part of a bass or bridge this guy is selling? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Set-of-Quality-Bass-...1QQcmdZViewItem I'm not taking the p*ss, I genuinely have sat looking at these 'bridges' and can only come to the conclusion it's a pair of saddles (in which case they are quite wide and is the brass coloured disc a string guide) or the guy is a numpty (option 3 I'm a numpty) and this has nothing to do with a P or J bass. The puzzling thing is he wants pick-up as he'd rather not post... for a bridge or saddle! Someone put me out of my misery.
I am afraid i have fallen for another .waited 20years to try graphite and i hope me and my Zon sonus special will be very happy together! But i know what you mean i have had a few basses and its possibly the best gigging bass ever but i am retired from gigging now and think i have found my ultimate 2 basses after many years of trying so trying to lessen the collection. Cheers John
Zon Sonus Special you say... is that the bubinga topped one or the Flamed maple? I'm not a stalker... Honest

Have you spoken to Andy at Wizard? Only reason I ask is that when I wanted pups to drop into my Warwick Infinette there wasn't a pup in the Wizard catalogue (JJ) that fitted, so I spoke to Andy and he quite literally made me one the correct size/shape (cut the lugs off the J pups and joined with a poly strip in the middle). It still ended up costing pretty much the same as if I'd just bought a pair of pups off the shelf.

Bit of a lazy morning so I'm trawling eBay. A classic eBay sale which you can shoot so many holes in that it'd be transparent. Where do you want to start with this 20 watt solid state valve amp from the 70's worth £625+?
It could be a lot worse - it could be a Warwick Hang on though - aren't they made from old coffee tables anyway?
Oi... watch it! -
Just had a reply 'hello, I'm in Menstrie,Clackmannanshire about 40 miles from Edinburgh. You can come and collect it anytime.Alternatively I can post it to your address, send me your zip for a postage quote. Regards, Anna' I dont know whether this makes it anymore genuine or not, but it worries me how none of my questions where answered, that said, we now have a Scottish town and a offer to collect whenever i want, shame Scotland is a bit of a jog from Huddersfield without a car.
Funny how you had a response and you're in Huddersfield yet I'm only an hour and a half to two hours from him and I've had no response... I did however point out to him my fairly close proximity when I emailed!
Well I've sent a Warwick Dolphin to Canada with InterParcel - Cost £130 (that includes the extra £20 for insurance to £1000) for delivery within 3 days. We'll see how they get on in the next couple of days!
Well... InterParcel came up trumps The bass was collected in the UK Wednesday afternoon and has been delivered this afternoon (Friday) in Canada and the bass is safe and sound. That's a pretty impressive delivery schedule if you ask me! Good price, no smashed bass and 'quick' delivery. Definitely a +1 from me. -
Would it be hard to wire this for a Thumb BO? Ie. currently with a 2 band EQ

Shouldn't be too hard - stack the bass and treble and you have a similar setup to that of a Thumb NT. Rick
As Rick says not too hard at all and added to which the Warwick shop can supply the correct stacked pot and knobs for not a huge amount of money. I saw someone on another forum selling the same 3 band pre for the equivalent of £95 + P&P IIRC the general consensus was that it was a steal at that price... makes the price I sold this to Dave for look pretty cheap! -
Why does one pic have a bent-plate metal style Fender bridge and the other pic have a Badass? This looks like a cash-convertors style shop so I can't imagine they have been swapping bits over... pics of two different basses posing as one?
-
Highly suspicious, but at that price does it matter? Looks like a cool bass and a new reliced one would cost more than that from Nash, etc.
Be honest if it is genuine it is worth 'WAY' more than that. Problem is likely to be that the bass doesn't turn up after you buy it! As has been stated it's advertised on the London Gumtree (accepted that it is on the www.) and located in Scotland. Chances are that if the seller is a bit hooky then he'd take your money and offer to post it. Saying all of that, there is no word from the seller and they have as likely as not had a 100 emails from genuinely interested parties and/or BCers and if it is genuine they are suddenly realising what it is worth; if they are a scammer they know they've over-played their hand.
-
Don't 'assume' that it is the wiring and go buying new bits, it could just as easily be a duff pick-up. Unless you have spares lying around that you can interchange I'd suggest a quick chat with your local repair bloke.

It would appear neither I nor Kev have had a response from the seller and I even offered to collect at his convenience asap as I wasn't that far from him/her.

Horrible, glad you are OK though. Circuit breakers are a must!
