1. OK so where's that fatted calf 'kin hiding Nice to have you back Chris. You do realise though that no-one dare leave and come back now in case they get a lesser welcoming return than thou!
 2. I use the DB112's and I 'think' they fit your tone criteria BUT be aware that they aren't featherweights. They aren't massively heavy but won't compete, weight wise, with the likes of the Tech 1x12s available on the sale forum.
 3.
Oh, I'm always lagging behind everyone else aren't I? Could someone at least give me chance to look at these rude posts before they are deleted? Sorry chaps. Sounds like a major flippin' headache, as if you lot running this place don't have enough to do already
Don't worry Mrs T, they aren't those 'home videos' Mr Tinman made a while back
 4.
OK Phatmonkey has updated the forum software, so we shouldn't be getting any more bogus account sign ups. However there may still be validated accounts that we're not aware of yet. Many thanks to the people who have already PM'd Ped and I with spam posts.
No, I think you'll find we need to thank you guys.
 5.
Which was the "musical" bit - I think I missed it.
I think that was the bit where you heard the rhythmical 'clacking' of valves and (thankfully) f*ck all else
 6.
I've never understood the 'sound of wood' motto when used to sell primarily active, and zingy, honky sounding instruments. I'm not a fan of warwicks (in my hands) apart from the SS1 5 string, but the guy who used to play in bossk got a wicked tone from his detuned thumb.
Some of those early Streamer Stage Is (predominantly wenge necks, cherry bodies and 1 piece bridges) absolutely epitomise that "Sound of wood" motto! I've owned a couple of those early instruments (IIRC Alex C has an early cherry bodied example, which I reckon he'd not describe as zingy or honky) and I can honestly say that a 'woodier' tone you are unlikely to hear than from one of those early instruments... active electrics or not!
 7. Does anyone know if this spamming of BassChat could explain why access by me, of the forum, is suddenly blocked at my work (my personal account not a public/pupil accessible account I hasten to add), as I've been able to access BC prior to a couple of days ago!
 8.
'Time Out' Andy... have I missed something or misreading reactions? Where did the abuse come from? I can't see any attack on your description or item, sensitivity seems to be high

pms
Ah, obviously as onlookers we aren't aware of what is said in PMs
 9.
Hi John, that's the pic that started it all.
Hehehe don't I know it
 10.
Im amazed how much abuse I get from advertising something which is not "picture perfect" is this not a general FS sale forum, does everything have to be mint condition?
'Time Out' Andy... have I missed something or misreading reactions? Where did the abuse come from? I can't see any attack on your description or item, sensitivity seems to be high
 11.
Is that covering you for professional use of kit? That is, actually taking money for the gig? If not then if something goes wrong and they find out you are taking £ for the gig they will not pay you. TBH until you asked I assumed so. I'll have to look into that. Is that whichever bass you happen to have out of the house at the time or one specific bass? I'm covered to take one bass (any one) out of the house but I gave the cost of replacing the most expensive. I'm not asking aggressively here, I have not been insured for a long time and I really need to get it set up again. When I was insured I got pay outs for a stolen keyboard and a dropped double bass (don't ask) with no problems.
12.
I love Warwicks, I have a lovely 2002 LTD Corvette Jazzman. French walnut body, swirly bubinga top and real abalone inlays. Yum.
I was just thinking "Oh that sounds tasty", when I remembered... I sold you it! Note to self - must stop selling basses that I like.
 13.
WarwickH, does that cover you for gigging? +1 for alianz.. They rebuilt my big sax twice after on stage incidents.
The cover includes 1 'itemised' bass (valued @ £2200) and assorted equipment up to £1000. TBH I've no idea about public liability etc
 14. £145 for £3000 of cover I have x6 that level of cover for my basses PLUS all of my assorted music amplification, a couple of guitars, 1 bass insured for £2200 away from the home AND all of my contents up to £40k for about the same premium... Liverpool Victoria through Frizzell. Maybe I'm missing something but my insurers seem happy to cover and all I had to do was get a music shop to give me a written quotation for my basses to be replaced new for old. However (touch wood), I've never made a claim in 20+ years of having insurance.
 15.
Out of context that looks so wrong.
I had to read that 3 times to get what you alluded to. Nice one!
 16. As the original owner of the cab I can concur that this cab can go stupid loud and is easily the lightest 6x10 cab available (that I am aware of). I'll never forget the look of fellow BCer 'JPJ', when I turned up at his and lifted this out of the back of my car with 1 hand... you did hear that right; a 6x10 that can be lifted with 1 hand (though you'd not carry it thus balanced for very far). I agree the handles aren't the greatest but I do think that the fact that the drivers are offset means that you can walk through doorways and not scrape your knuckles, I've known 2x10s heavier and harder to maneuver through doors than this. The intriguing thing with this cab is that it sounds fatter/fuller the more watts that get pushed through it.
 17.
carefull dont tell warwickhunt where you live or he may steal that off you!
Oh I'm just waiting for Alex to truly bond with his RIM then I'll ave that off him
 18. 3 pages in... 1 insult (you'll not be wanting another Wick of me then Luke )... and I've only just found this thread What was the original question As has been said Warwick don't get that much stick but they are out of flavour with the general bass playing populace. The problem is compounded by the fact that the Warwick range has expanded massively over the years and the quality varies from era to era and range to range. There's also the ongoing debate about Warwick necks... oddly enough Warwick neck dimensions vary massively and several BC Warwick owners could no doubt testify that they own basses that are as pencil slim and shallow as any Jazz bass (the industry standard for describing a skinny neck) and some Warwicks are a nice big handful. You rarely hear Fender owners whinging about neck dimensions because most people realise that if you want a wide chunky neck you get a P bass if you want skinny you get a J bass; unfortunately Warwick don't have that demarcation in their range. As such you can almost guarantee (sweeping generalisation) that people wanting a skinny neck pick up a Wick with a chunky neck and people wanting a chunky neck invariably pick up something skinny Result = people slating Warwick necks Oh and just for the record...

Each and every Warwick I have ever owned has been bought and paid for by me, I'm not sponsored so I have no contractual allegiance to Warwick
I think the jack sockets on early Warwicks were inadvertently made with Chocolate and they stink (sweeping generalisation #2)
I [s]love hate love[/s] hate Warwick Thumbs... but I think I may be into double figures with the number I have owned over the last 20 years
I equally admire a lot of other basses (particularly Spector NS basses but I'd still rather play my Streamer).
I still keep trying other manufacturers to find something that bests them in every respect
19. It's funny but looking at some of the responses it's fairly obvious who are the 'experienced' eBayers and who just use it as an on-line shop I'm not dissing anyone for how they choose to use eBay but there are different ways and means of using eBay and a bit of nous can save a wedge of cash
 20.
I thought this thread might get some danders up.
Ooooh you've gone and done it now! 'Unleash the dogs of war'... well a few like minded BChatters
 21. Lowest rated amp used with a drummer on stage would probably be 150w Laney ProBass 20 years or so ago. Though I've used lower rated amps for other musical performances I'd not want to go back to using much less than 250-300watts... Just used to the headroom and less worry I suppose. IMHO the greatest change in quantity of watts being used is probably more to do with higher wattage amps being cheaper to produce. Hence we can get access to more watts per £, so why the heck not use em. <edit> I tell a lie... I started off gigging with a Marshall 100w Superbass but that spent more time being repaired than it did being gigged
 22.
I'm not scared of things I've bid on turning up here. At least at present, there doesn't seem much buying ferver here. Not just the Encore, but other things brought to everyone's attention. I have posted links here that I was bidding on. I'm still the high bidder, I see. Though I won't win, as that bid was me in "ultra-lowball" mode. If there was to be an effective agreement, that could be that everyone posts here, but we agree who is to bid. But that most certainly wouldn't be a Gentleman's Agreement! I've seen similar happening outside a real-world auction house though.
In an ideal world that would be just dandy but unfortunately it just ain't gonna happen on a public forum I know of one BCer who posted on this site about a bass he'd seen advertised in a shop. He wanted clarification about authenticity etc. he didn't name the shop or anything but surprise surprise when he went back the next day the shop had been inundated with phone calls about the bass. Luckily he got the bass as the shop were holding the bass till he returned.
 23.
Well then, can we agree that anything in the Musical Instruments > Guitars > Bass category is fair game for mentioning here? And basses with 0 bids?
This isn't my site, as I said anyone can do what they like; this is just my opinion or take on things, people might find that your view is more valid than mine. There aren't any 'rules' governing what BC users can highlight on here, it just seems sensible to have a 'Gentleman's Agreement' about the kinds of situations that we discussed and your suggestion, if you wish to do that, seems reasonable enough ... I just hope you aren't watching a bass with 0 bids that someone flags up on here
