What can you charge for a New Years Eve Gig?
warwickhunt replied to phsycoandy's topic in General Discussion
I'd suggest you don't worry about the venue's finances for NYE unless you are good friends or want to play there a lot. The bar takings will be huge.
I've done my fair share of them over the years and I was more indicating that if you are going to price a job then you have to be realistic. Some guys on here are throwing four figure sums about (which is valid for large WMC and Corporate events)which your average spit and sawdust local will think is extracting the urine; if you go in with figures like that your 'unlikely' to get the gig and if you do want the work you've got to price accordingly (whilst getting as much as you can for the effort) -

Judging from the wood colour/patternation I have a sneaking suspicion the wood 'might' be Korina rather than Alder. I'm no expert so don't gun me down but I've seen a fair bit of Alder and Korina but I am aware that photos can be deceptive. Not that it matters, it's a bargain price and whether it is Alder or Korina they are both valid tone woods -
Nah, I only bought it yesterday. As I said in my initial post - there's still USPS/HM Customs and Excise/ParcelFarce to make it through. I feel like I have to defend myself here in the face of some scepticism. It's just a heads up on what seems like a reasonable starting point for a project, at a favourable price. Yes, it's in the states. Yes there has been some negative feedback. If that bothers you - caveat emptor - if you think it looks dodgy, walk away. I consider the risks to be within acceptable tolerances, as I explained earlier in the thread.
I'm not having a dig, just genuinely interested. I've taken far greater risks on eBay sales and though there is time for me to get shafted yet, I've always been happy with how things have gone and what I have received. I reckon that looks a cracking deal and for a project it looks as good as you'll get anywhere -

Strictly speaking about pubs and WMC here I've never achieved more than £150 per member but certainly never less than £125. I hear what others are quoting and don't dispute some of the fees that have been mentioned but you do have to be realistic and establish what the venue can stomach. -

Have you actually received yours then? -
I was actually interested in this as they offer this system on their acoustic basses and I had my doubts about neck stability. Hmmm will have to see.

Chris Squires telecaster bass?
warwickhunt replied to beerdragon's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Whilst flicking through The Fame Buereau's T&C I noted that as a seller unless you indicate in writing that you don't want it, you have to pay an insurance premium that amount being £1.50 per £100. The best bit is that it then isn't covered for accidental damage or breakage If you sell something through them don't withdraw it, that's a 20% fee of their lower estimate and you're paying £3 a day storage Pay promptly (48hrs) otherwise that is 2% above the bank base rate that you will be clattered for! Oh and for heaven's sake down use a bank transfer to pay... that's another 1% commission. -
Full on Bass and treble on my active Warwicks, which probably gives me a mid scoop The most used control on my bass is the pan pot!

Has anyone encountered this system before? http://www.michaelkellyguitars.com/acoustic_guitars.html It looks intriguing... but!

What's the most over-rated bass, or bass related product???
But Brian Fox plays one. And Scott Thunes. And John McCoy. And Rob Wright. And Steve Harris. Why did I buy a bloody Jazz? Jazzes, that's it - totally over-rated if you ask me.
Hey Caisley. I particularly like your track 'Chicken'... less said about 'Poo' the better -
nope - the bass was here in Peterborough! (thats a city 30 miles north of Cambridge in case you're not sure!)
Ah Peterborough, north of Cambridge you say! That'll be in the South with the pampered people; far away from we Northern savages It's strange but I normally much prefer the natural finish Warwicks but of all the coloured ones that they do, I like the high gloss red ones (closely followed by the tobacco burst) most and never really got into the look of the oiled finishes.
That really does look the balls... but then again, slap a couple of Stage I's either side of any rig and it's going to look hot. Or am I just a sucker for anything with 'W' on the headstock...
'We' are both suckers for the big 'W'
Hmmm...not bad!!!!! In fact, I nearly had a similar red Streamer back in '92, some other bastard bought it (beating me to it!) from the shop where I used to work at weekends - was really upset as I recall - it had a finish like glass and tons of balls!! The ones that get away eh?!
So long as that shop wasn't located between Newcastle and Bolton it couldn't be this one
Niiiice!
Could that be because the rig looks 'old school' and exactly like your Schroeder?
