1.
The Sandbergs look very nice. I'm quite tempted to order a Fretless California PM...
Hmmm... P pup at the neck Twin J at the bridge... would that be a fretless in sunburst... aged/relic'd maybe! Sounds like an 'new' old version of a bass that is sadly missed
 2.
Warwickhunt, what bass is that? Looks like an aguilar preamp, and from the looks of the wood and cavity, the bass looks like a $$ NT, but the pot alignment looks weird! Just curious
Well BSR... It's officially a Streamer Corvette ('91) but they are often referred to as Infinettes as they preceded the Infinity range by a few years. They were a Ltd Ed of between 120 and 200 (depending on what you read/hear). The preamp is actually an MEC unit and the pots as you see are dual concentrics with push/pull switching options for coil tapping the rear pup and for active/passive.
 3.
Cheers, Warwickhunt. I hadn't thought about the angle of the strings. As it happens, one of things I'm really impressed with on the Sandberg is the even-ness of the volume and tone accross the fretboard. I suppose that comes from a decent overall set up. It's better than my Jass, where I tend to get excessive bass from the A and E strings (not always a bad thing I know!) I think the Jazz might benefit from some adjustments.... BTW - Is it you who hates exposed pole pieces? I read that from someone on here recently LOL Steve
I don't think I've ever expressed open 'hatred' for exposed pole pieces However, saying that I don't particularly like them! The 2 Sterlings and numerous Jazzes etc (though some with particularly sharp edges are worse than others) that I have owned had ExPP and I found that my playing style meant that my fingers were striking the polepieces when I started to really play hard. Part of that is my preference to have the pups as close up to the strings as is possible!
 4. re. the G-string run out. I don't think its a dodgy route more likely the pups are mass produced units, branded/stamped for Sandberg and they would thus have not taken account of specific spacing of strings running in toward the nut on different models. Likely as not front and back pup are exactly the same unit and it would be too much trouble to make one with slightly different spacing for neck position. You'd be amazed how many manufacturers that produce exposed polepieces don't bother accommodating this... stand up and take a bow Fender If it sounds OK (and they normally do) as is, I wouldn't worry. Nice bass btw and congrats on the promotion
 5.
You must be a VERY scary man to induce such terror in your bandmates. More power to you.
Much embarrassment on bandmates faces when I confided that I'd been doing this, especially as the singer had been giving me instructions on 'less mid and a bit more top (etc.)' and I'd been tweaking the desk (whilst trying not to burst out in tears) and he's responding 'Yep that's perfect' The upside was that the monitors got ditched
 6. I got a cob on with my band once as I was expected to set my gear up and then set up the whole PA inc monitors... to cut a long story short. This particular gig I was late arriving and nothing was unpacked etc so I rushed about setting up PA and thought 'scr*w this' and I didn't plug in the monitors I just left cables trailing to them and I moved the FOH speaker stands back a bit so the singer was getting a bit from them. Needless to say nobody commented on the monitor sound and just because I can be like that sometimes I proceeded to do the same at the next bunch of gigs; guess what? Not once did anyone comment on monitors!
 7.
In all honesty, that did cross my mind. Probably not though
Good call and I bet you check your speaker cables from now on
 8.
Semi Rigid. lol.
As opposed to a flaccid gigbag Have a bump for a cracking case!
 9.
Ah well there's a question: I'm the proud owner of an EBS td650, and love it, it's heavy but worth every ounce. As for Bands, I'm a bit greedy: up until last year my main band, Alive and Kicking, hadn't been working for over a year, so I joined two other Bands to keep me occupied; The Fabulous Balls Brothers and All Shine No Shoes. So now I find myself in three Bands and still don't play every weekend. Previous bands have been The Fabulous Road Runners and the Rhythm Method. Frankly I was disappointed not to get the call to play with The Who or The Rolling Stones, but my Psychiatrist says that treatment is helping with my delusional thoughts! Cheers Charla NB I do not accept responsibility of any of the Band Names
Ah ha EBS td650... always wanted to try one. Alive & Kicking... Is it/was it Arthur on trumpet? Memory is alcohol addled but I remember a guy looking not unlike Mike Harding (FFS if it is him don't tell him ) leading the horn section. The Rhythm Method... tried it once As for the other bands mentioned... I seem to recall a guy called Choc playing bass for one or all of them; that wouldn't be you Alan? (awaits the obvious answer... who!)
 10. Just out of interest what amp are you going to be using with the DR cab and what is the name of your band?
 11. Brand new and boxed £23 inc p&p Gauge - 45-105 strings (4 string set) I have two sets.
 12.
Hi there guys! Just to let you know, i am the seller of the bass Paubass is looking at. Thanks for all the ideas ect on the best way of completing the transaction. There is alot at stake for both partys. I quite like the idea of an elected forum member (trusted/moderator ect) where i would take the bass to them (anywhere around glasgow - edinburgh), when in there presence the full amount would be transfered to my account, once there.....the bass is left with the member for pickup/postage to be arranged. I would even sling something to the member as thanks for there time taken to help with the transaction. Ebay is another good idea.....but im sure the charge for me to list a item of this amount would be about £60/80 which i cant justify. Paubass has excellent rating and feedback on the forum, and i dont for see there being a problem as he seems like a very friendly guy....but care needs to be taken by everybody in this situation. Me being new here doesnt help, but everyone needs to start somewhere. Thanks again guys for your help! Chris!
Always a good sign ^
 13.
If the seller is new though, they're not going to find a mutually-trusted mediator are they?
I can happily recommend 5 members off this forum that could be trusted. If the seller has any sense then he should be able to see that trusting a long standing member of this forum to act as a middleman is as honest a way forward as trusting a complete stranger to send you money... yes? <edit> The figure of 5 was plucked out of the air... I can seriously say there would be more than that One thing to consider is would someone want the aggro?
 14.
Thanks guys for all your advice. Anyone knows for sure if you are protected with Paypal even if it's not through Ebay? Flying and collection in person is not possible because of time and flight prices.
You are covered by PayPal but the type of account held by the recipient and/or the length of time he has had the account determines the value of cover! £150/£500 etc. Are there no long standing BCers in the Glassgee area?
 15.
Well... It was kind-of by accident. I bought it. It arrived. It was fab. But MY GOD it was shiny. Very shiny. And I have a lovely fretless '71. So... I stuck it on eBay with a BIN, and went straight out to a gig with it. It sounded bloody GREAT. 'I'm keeping this,' I thought. 'I'll pull it from ebay when I get home.' Checked my email at half-time... some (lucky) bugger had hit the BIN. Great bass.
Easily done and a good lesson to us all... unfortunately at some point we'll all still sell something that we don't 'really' want to
 16. re. WoT's accidental selling... I can't wait to hear this one
 17. Soz, been away and didn't spot this one! Have you checked out the Warwick forum and asked there for help and info re upgrades etc? warwick.de/forum
 18. If I may say so, its understandable and wise to be just a bit wary in a situation like this. I'm based up near Newcastle if the noobie is from my neck of the woods I've no objection to giving you a hand at sorting this out.
 19. There is supposedly a 'sweet spot' for a single pup to be placed Luke, as I read about it years ago in a bass magazine and it can be identified by a mathematical equation relating to tones and overtones... unfortunately that is of no earthly use to you what-so-ever as I can't find the magazine article that it was in I do remember it being to do with divisions of the scale length and you can find it by hitting harmonics along the string length but alas again no use to you if you haven't got a bridge fitted etc. I'm sure some clever bod on here should be able to identify this 'sweet spot'.
 20. Doesn't the fool know how to stack cabs for max efficiency? Shame that H&K wasn't the bassbase model and the cabs genuine H&K, I'd have had them to store at my rehearsal space.
 21.
I'd like more headroom. And the ability to really drive a preamp section if I want to, I like a bit of crunchiness and I'd rather not have to boost the input gain too much in order to avoid too much noise. I mean, it's not a massive issue but I would feel better with say an 18v preamp.
If you don't get fixed up and are running on a budget (and don't mind leaving the 3rd band mid setting alone) my 18v 3 band MEC preamp circuit and pots will be available soon.
 22. I don't think the lack of response to your thread has anything to do with your pics or photography skills but more to do with the present buying/selling climate! The RRP on Warwicks and their present low esteem/presence means that 2nd hand values have taken a hammering £1200 for something that cost £2400 less than a year ago is indeed (very) cheap but folks just aren't stumping up that kind of money at the minute. Hang onto it if you can and just enjoy, things will turn the corner and your Thumb (along with every other Wick) will achieve its true potential
 23. Soz for dragging this up but... Has anyone actually seen this mag in the shops yet? My local WHS has 4 copies of the last mag (July/Aug) but no sign of the new one and the staff are as much use as a chocolate fireguard!
 24. Moving on can be a good thing, so I would lament too much over the end of that chapter no matter what the circumstances. re. your gear - Do what feels best but if one of those basses is a bit of a 'good-un' I'd hold on to at least that! Good luck in whatever you decide
