1 button in is parallel is it not? 1 button in sounds different to 3 buttons in which in turn is different to 4 buttons in.
-
So what setting is '3 buttons in'?
-
I asked about the 3 / 4 buttons in, over on TB and it was totally inconclusive as to which is what setting but you get 2 different sounds... at least on my bass you do!
-
All in 3 buttons or all in 4 buttons?
-
Well that's certainly a different slant! Warwick licensed the 'Ned Steinberger' design from Stuart Spector until he sold the company, the license was challenged due to design changes (weak to say the least but it worked for them). The Streamer however is simply a ripped off Ned Steinberger, no doubt at all! Where the heck the scrubbing of Fender decals and selling Fenders comes from I have no idea... that's a new one on me!
-
Are you after a 4 or 5 string Streamer/Thumb? If it is a 4 string and you have to have JJ pups you'll be looking at a Streamer Stage II which is more expensive and significantly harder to find than a Streamer Stage I (PJ).
-
Small body, short top horn... 1st fret is further away than many have encountered on any other bass, which means a big 'NO' for many. "I understand the wenge neck gives that characteristic burp that the Thumb has." - You'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between the neck woods; it's the combination of many things that give that burp.

That looks like an ebony board which indicates it's always been fretless or had a replacement board. If it is 1990 you'll get a reply from W telling you basic info that anyone could give, they didn't keep detailed records back then so I could type up the W reply for you. I'd have a close examination of how good the lines are installed; do they 'look' factory?

Woes of Will: Venues & Promoters Yorkshire/North East
warwickhunt replied to Nothingman's topic in General Discussion
Contact Dave Hills at Trillians, Newcastle; if he is interested you'll still not get a gig till 2024 as he is booked virtually every day of the week till then. I have to say there are more bands chasing fewer good gigs/venues, which is an issue! -
Thanks for the info @rushbo However... unless I can find a playable TP 12 string it will be 'sound-a-like'!
-
If you know of venues that put on tributes in your area, please by all means message me and I'll see if I can sort something.

100W Stoneham valve amp - small footprint, lighter weight
warwickhunt replied to Merton's topic in Amps and Cabs
The YI200 was quite a size as I recall, will the physical 'box' be significantly smaller than that? -
Stonking gig at Trillians last night. Not blowing our trumpet but it was packed and I had a hard time believing that when I saw my teenage heroes 'ANGEL' there a couple of years ago there were less fans in than we had... mad (but great)! Folks were singing along to nearly every song. Our guitarist knows he needs to up his game!

Isn't the whole EQ thing dependent on too many things to generalise about pro/con? I was about to post that I have a flat EQ on my gigging amps (Thunderfunk/EBS350) but then I realised that my other amp (Tech Soundsystem Blackcat) isn't 'flat' when everything is in the centre BUT it sounds good like that. I also used to use the contour control a lot on the Handbox WD100... which is a mid control. It literally depends on me (fingers or pick), bass (active/passive), strings (flats/rounds/old/new), amp, cabs, effects, room, band line up (guitars/keys) inc drummers kit... the list goes on. However, I should add that I play with 4 different bands (often with interchangeable drummers), using various amps, with various musical outcomes. If you play one thing all the time maybe one setting works.

Are they mini humbuckers? I like basses that are a bit different and that is defo on the tasteful side of different.

The Ultimate KISS Song Tournament
warwickhunt replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in General Discussion
Pleasant 30 mins on YT going back to my youth! I did a charity gig for Cancer Research and we put together a 'tribute' band to KISS; it was all low budget but I bloody enjoyed the songs again... more than I did the boots! -

I've had them on Warwick basses, so yes. However, I didn't have one to hand.

Really nice bridges those Hipshot B's. I actually don't have an issue with the 'quality' of bridge that is fitted as standard, not bothered that you have to slacken strings and slide to placement but it is a bit odd that the up/down travel is bottomed out and it seems some bridges are either positioned incorrectly (mine was defo 8mm out when comparing 2 identical bridges on Jake basses) or that you can't get enough lateral movement to intonate.
