1.
I love Warwicks, but that design is an abomination. It's going to stand on it's own tuners.... What genius thought of that?
It does come with a centre-pin fitting for a stand but I agree that I'm not a huge fan of the design. Must say that the re-released version looks tastier. I've often wondered whether (like the Streamer shape) it was licenced from N Steinberger!
 2.
I'd like to see someone resurrect the EA 3x10" design but in a lighter format. 5.3 ohms is a perfectly sensible nominal impedance for a cab, treat it as a 4 ohm cab that's a little easier on the amp. I don't like these designs that achieve a 4 or 8 ohm impedance through strange series/parallel connections and mixed impedance woofers because you get uneven power distribution. The Berg 6x10" uses 24 ohm drivers to get 4 ohm impedance, I presume the 3x10" uses 12 ohm ones likewise. Alex
Tecamp/Tech Soundsystems just label their 6x10 6ohms and don't fudge the issue.
 3.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Warwick-Lead-Nobby-M...1QQcmdZViewItem This is a first on me - a one time special run of 30 guitar versions of the headless Warwick Nobby bass (the first Warwick from what i gather). ...where's Warwickhunt when you need him?
Did someone call The Nobby's are/were some of the earliest and limited but oddly enough the bass version appears on eBay with surprising regularity... it's either a handful of duff basses that keep doing the rounds or owners never hold onto them. I've seen the basses selling for less than a grand. I've not seen the guitar version that often (nor have I studied it) though I do recall a while back someone questioning if the couple that have been noted are cut down basses! The pup mounts look like they could be hiding a cavity routed for bass pups but I'd really not like to say what the real story is. I suppose the scale length and fret spacing would easily identify if this were originally made as a guitar! Letters of authenticity from a music shop or HPW are so easily faked/typed up that I'd be reluctant to take that as the only form of provenance.
 4.
Got Mine for 150 I think plus a knackered old Londoner amp as PX! Can't fault it.
Damn! You did haggle a good deal.
 5.
Just purchased some "bling" gold straplocks from John. Not exactly a Warwick Thumb I know, but I'm excited anyway. Quality service, and a canny blurke to boot. Arrived very quickly. Just waiting to take him up on the offer of a cuppa (and stottie sandwich) one day!
Greggs is 300 yds from where I live and the kettle is always on Cheers for a nice and easy transaction.
 6.
Yay! The smoky H&K's! I've heard so much about these...
John Hornby Skewes had some warehouse fire many moons ago and smoke damaged stock got auctioned off as a result of the insurance settlement but TBH there was s*d all wrong with the stock... a faint whiff of woodsmoke in the rat fur when I got mine but the first gig in a smoky pub (remember them) and they all smell the same
 7.
Got mine new (but a little smokey) from Grott guitars in old Eldon square(remember them). Got it for an absolute steal because it had been in some fire damaged building. It smelt a bit smokey for a couple of weeks but after that it was all good. I think there was a couple of them at there at the time. Maybe you got the other one?
That's where I got my first one I then picked up a second one from some guy over the west of the town and I picked up the amp version off eBay in Germany... I became a bit of a magpie with regard to those combos as I had a third one at one point
 8.
The Bass base 250 is an excellent amp and i use it for backline and on it's own for pubs etc and it copes no problem. Bit heavy though, you wouldn't want to be carting it about all the time. Have to be honest though I don't know anything about the modern stuff. Bit disappointed if it's true what warwick is saying about the tone of the newer amps as I was looking at a back up for mine. Hope they haven't skimped on quality.
... did you get your bassbase 250 off me? I sold the standalone amp and a combo locally some years back and I can't believe there'd be too many of them kicking about the Newcastle area!
 9. Soz when no one replied within a couple of weeks and the thread dropped from site, I binned them but none were flats anyway.
 10.
It went for £104. anyone on here.
Flog the amp and that's a cheap 4x10 (for a body-builder).
 11.
Has anyone seen one of these in the wild, yet? The 600, specifically? http://www.tecamp.de/index.php?id=88
It looks like it has developed from the various Tech Soundsystems range and very handy that the 600 can do 2 ohms. The 1000 is actually lighter than the 600 as it is digital... but that explains why you are interested in the 600 NOT the 1000 Too new for there to be any used examples floating about so I'll have to wait before I try one
 12. I realise that the pup config is different on the Infinity but I matched a 2 band Demeter preamp to my MEC equipped Stage I and it was excellent. I also have a Warwick with the same pup config that you have in your Infinity and I got Andy @ Wizard pups to wind me a set of pups. They are subtly different to the MECs but TBH not a massive difference (a touch fuller in the low mids 'darker' and a little more clarity in the top end). I'd say that the preamp change to my SSI made a bigger difference than the change of pups in the Infinette... different basses I know but just a thought.
 13. I'm pants at this game because I can't come up with a bassline that 'doesn't' compliment the song... maybe coz bassists are brill and play what is required unlike other musicians I could mention
 14.
It's for all the Fender owners whose basses ship with inferior hardware. Relax and rub in some more wax.
Wax... rub in... has someone been telling tales it's not true, whatever evidence is provided
 15. I've had (and gigged) a Boss TU12 tuner for 20+ years and other than a replacement battery clip it's never flackered and still going strong! The plastic slip over case is more gaffer tape than case but Hey it's R&R
 16.
Well, I like the mid-to-top end range, but it seems to lack a bit of bottom-end punch. I'd like to beef that up a bit. Also, the controls seem to have very little effect - using the dial to move bewteen the 2 pickups doesn't appear to do much. Neither does the tone control. So, I'm sort of struggling to achieve an array of sounds and tones
So your basically looking at new pups and electrics... you have to weigh up if spending a wedge on upgrades will give you the bass that you want and bear in mind that you will 'not' recoup what you spend on upgrades. Upgrades generally make a bass a bit more desirable but you'll be lucky if they increase the value of the instrument by 10% of the value of the upgrades (not the total value of the instrument). If the actual bass skeleton of the bass is exactly what you want and you 'know' that upgrades will definitely get you the tone you desire then fair enough but if you can't be certain of these things, I'd suggest selling and getting a used example of a bass that will give you what you want. So speaketh the person who has spent wedges of money doing exactly what I've told you not to do... do as I say not do as I do
 17. As has been said previously you just need a small amount to start with but your first lesson should be pretty much assessing where they are up to so that you can plan what you intend doing with them in the future.
 18.
You know you'll probably get 15 enquiries about this now, all desperately in need of that pickup!!
Ain't that the truth
 19. Great craftsmanship and quality woods I'm sure but I bet that it balances like a bitch when it is on a strap!
 20. A couple of nice basses Sean, impeccable taste!
 21. The reason that people put on 'bidders with less than...' is that newbies can join and go bid happy, then suddenly have a change of heart and they don't complete the sale (especially as you can no long leave them negative feedback). You can get your fees back if the sale doesn't go through but it is still a pain in the backside and a waste of time and effort. I have to say though that if someone has offered you what you want then sell it to them! Just make sure that you have the funds in your hands before letting it go.
 22. A bit rich calling themselves 'bassguitarpartsdirect'... they have nothing that fits a Warwick. 'fendertypethingsareus' more like
 23. Awesome Time to start collecting my Wicks again On a serious note! How much difference do you notice between the various (NT) Euro and USA models?
 24.
Always hard to describe bass amp tone, but yes I'd say the Eden preamp is on the "warm" side, but in a good way. SWR is a cleaner/brighter but can be warmed up with lower-mid eq (and upper mid cut). I've found its easier to warm up a "clean" amp (eq, Sansamp) than to clean up a "warm" amp. If you really want clean then Euphonic Audio is hard to beat, but you may decide it isn't really what you want...it can be a bit unforgiving. BB
If I read it right the OP wants something 'warmer' than an Eden, rather than something cleaner. If an Eden isn't warm enough you 'may' need to look at valves. I emphasis the word 'may' need valves as I've owned valve amps that could cut glass With my Thunderfunk set flat (with a little tweak on the timbre knob) through my DB112s, I find my tone full and warm BUT this is less apparent when using Neo speakers. Are the Bergs Neo?
