Oddly enough when I contacted the seller I was quite open and positive and I gave him/her the benefit of the doubt but simply pointed out that there were a few 'issues' with the bass and its description and that it may well save him/her any future grief retaliation from a potential buyer if they could answer a few simple questions and maybe take a pic or two of a few salient features. I'd like to think I approached the whole matter with the kind of sensitivity that I'd want someone to do if it were my parent selling something for me. I doubt eBay would have pulled it due to the fact that it may not have been 100% Fender... there must have been some other issue maybe a hacked account.

I touched a raw nerve when i asked if she would mind posting her response to my question about the bass "So you would appreciate me posting the fact that IN YOUR OPINION the bass is not a Fender. This wouldn't be so you can bid on it and get it at a fraction of it's worth would it? I have described the bass as accurately as possible and included large close up pictures so that those interested in it can bid what it is worth to them. My son bought it about 20 years ago in its present condition for about £500 but never got it restored. I trust this answers your questions" It didn't actually answer my question as it happens, as I never said it wasn't a Fender but I guess the fact that it was pulled did answer a few questions!

I've asked if the seller would post my 'concern' that the bass may not be a Fender, this would be to offset the claim that it is worth at least £1500! Time will tell.
You might have to go clothes shopping - France isn't great for guitar shops. All the ones I've ever been into seem to have a load of copies and very little in the way of basses. No wonder their music's rubbish! Can't you persuade her that New York's really cheap at the moment? That way you could bring a little something home for yourself at $2 to the £1.
Tell me about it! Unfortunately SWMBO doesn't do flying so the car and ferry are pretty much our mode of holiday transport.

OK so let's widen this French thing out a bit I'm near Avignon in the S of France and I'm travelling back to the UK up along the Rhone valley road system later this week... who has something for me to buy and/or somewhere to go (long shot I know)?

Hummm, I think im being scammed.
warwickhunt replied to Jobiebass's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Just to add flesh to the numerous reasons it may be a scam... the seller ended the listing early to the highest bidder at that time; this is something that does happen but TBH not something that you'd normally do with a bass listing! -

Before you lash out a wedge on new pups and pre be aware that sometimes these mods may well not have any impact on the tone and if they do it may well just be a 'different' tone, not better/not worse! You can debate till the cows come home to what degree the constituent parts of a bass make the tone of that instrument but ultimately the woods and construction must have a bearing so your bass may well just sound like 'your bass' regardless of electrics.
+1 Sold mine for £750 and i was giving it away.... !! This should be sold by end of play today !! Warwickhunt's on holiday too..... he'll be gutted !!! Good Luck fella.... ATB Mark
I'm still watching though Seriously bad timing for me though as I have just committed to buying another bass otherwise I would have taken this just for the hell of it (at that price it is silly money). I still have a SSII and I'd not sell it for a penny under £1200! There may well have been a couple of SC/REVERB basses sold at a cut-price but this is still a cracking price.
does anyone know what straplocks i need to fit my sterling? i have schaller ones but they dont fit. cheerz
Are you sure that they are locking pins that you have fitted? Only reason I ask is that I had a Sterling which I thought had a locking system but it turns out that they were the standard strap buttons that just happened to look like locking pins Check out the EB forum but I'm sure that if this does have locking pins and they were fitted from new, then EB basses have their own sized fittings.

One of her previous sales was a 'breast pump'... the mind boggles as to what you got free with that one

Good luck and remember to drink plenty fluids... maybe I should rephrase that; drink plenty water (as opposed to alcohol)

As a result of loaning the guitarist from my latest musical project my Headrush, we now have a pair of them incorporated into our act! Fun fun fun if we don't get it right

I can't even find one in WH Smiths to buy one... you bunch of shiftless chiselers must have them all

12 string basses and acoustic bass
warwickhunt replied to Delberthot's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
The green bass is of interest Does that knock that it has taken affect the body structurally as it looks like it's right on the edge and might have weakened it! ... saying that if it has it would make the bass fecked and you'd not likely be trying to sell it on here Do you have any more close-ups of the damage and the bass in general? -
Warwick 2 piece bridge setup question
warwickhunt replied to markytbass's topic in Repairs and Technical
The body of the bridge (where the arrow points to in the manual) is cut at about a 45 degree angle and is not sharp. Looking at my strings at the bridge they seem to be just touching the "body" there is no noticable bend in the string. I can't lower the whole bridge any further and don't want to raise the saddles and thus strings. The only option I can see (if I do ever have problems) would be the raise the tail slightly.
Don't worry about it, as you say it is a Warwick caveat just in case a f*ckwit messes up his new Warwick. If the string is touching anywhere 'behind' the string break over the saddle and it isn't causing an issue (which it shouldn't) then "Don't worry - be happy" It might help to consider that thru-body stringing on many basses means that the string bends at the point it goes through the bass plate and some people will even claim that this extra contact is improving tone/clarity/sustain... so you may be improving your Warwick -

How to reduce treble hiss in a pre-amp?
warwickhunt replied to Shockwave's topic in Repairs and Technical
I've had similar problems in the past (not a Warwick ) and I was driven mad with one particular bass. I coated cavities in copper foil after painting them with screening paint, I earthed and re-earthed everything that could conceivably cause the hiss, I even tried different amps and cabs but I had to just accept that particular bass (a Jazz clone) was never going to be buzz free. I'm not saying that is the case here but be prepared that 'worst case' you may either have to live with it or get rid of the preamp. BTW have you ensured you aren't in a room with strip-lights or dimmer switches... they can exacerbate the problem. -

I noticed that your Marleaux was available elsewhere It's just a suggestion but if it might sell in Europe for 1000euro then it might be worth offering it on here for a lower price than your £1000... someone might be tempted to buy it and have it stripped Oh and a bump for a Marleaux; as I will get one some day (but it will be a 4).

Ask yourself this! Most of us (would like to think) that we could spot the difference in tone between a Fender P bass and a Jazz agreed... so what is the main difference between the 2 basses? Body wood? Construction? ...?
Personally i have no idea why some people have a preference over the pre-EB rays to the current ones, they don't sound a great deal different and they're no better in construction, there really isn't much difference. If anything the new ones are better. Not sure why the sales are suffering though. They are great instruments, oh well, i suppose it sets me up to get one around christmas rather nicely!
You could level that comment at Fender Jazz/Precision basses and I think you'd find a few defenders of the faith leaping forward I have to confess to having a fondness for old Warwicks and though there is nothing 'wrong' with any of the new ones (some may argue they are more consistent now due to technological advances), I'd as soon have an old one than a new one. I can justify that statement with reasons, so I'm sure Musicman lovers will have their reasons

The bass is in Cash Converters but unfortunately it was closed today!
