1. I've just had a rather odd conversation (which I'm still trying to make sense of ) with a guy about part-exing his Fender against one of my Warwicks. Bottom line is that he has a Custom Shop 62 Jazz, may even be a 'relic' (part of the odd conversation) and he wants something different probably a Warwick. He's giving me a call back to arrange a day to pop over and try a few different things but I want to be fore-armed before he gets here. Ideally I'd like to know if anyone would be interested in this Fender as I'm 99% certain that I don't want an expensive Jazz sitting around the house doing nothing (too many basses doing that already, hence a few more going). It is either black or sunburst (again sorry for the hazy details but it was an odd conversation that seem to bounce around so many different avenues each time one of us asked the other a question) with a tortie plate, complete with case, candy and tags etc. I don't have a number for the guy so I can't confirm till he gets back to me but I'll post full spec asap. Please PM me and let me know if this is of interest as I'll not take it if it's going to sit around like a lemon. I'd also appreciate any input with a possible value as I'm a bit clueless with the present state of pricing for anything other than Warwicks
 2. I don't quite get this people! This bass sat on this forum for weeks and was reduced time and time again... no one put their hand in their pocket and bought it. We all expressed interest and wished that it was this or that but at the end of the day someone pulled the folding stuff out and did what no one else had done, they bought it. What happens after that is pretty much immaterial! I'd have serious doubts about putting something back on here after it had been passed back and forth between 3/4 owners in as many weeks and had seen a price fall of £150+ in that time... it starts to look like a Jonah and would seem to be a waste of time and effort putting it back on BC, no body wanted it when it had 3/4 careful owners, who the f*ck would be serious about it after 4/5 owners? It's not like we are talking about some one post wonder who has snagged a bargain on ebay and then tried to flip a quick profit on here. This bass was offered to one and all for a v e r y long time and we all passed it up. Let it rest.
 3.
i'm pretty sure the signal does go through the valves since it is a valve pre amp unless the circuit shorts really badly i don't see how they would and why you'd go to the effort to make the signal not pass through them
Sorry, I may not have explained very well, I'm not saying the signal doesn't go through the valve but on certain amps this isn't always the case. When I was looking into this some years ago there were certain amps that split the signal and ran it parallel; one going through the valve the other going to the next stage (EQ), don't ask me why but I'm sure there was a techie reason why this was good practice! IIRC this was also supported by the fact that certain amps have a bleed control that alters how much of the signal goes through the valve. Again IIRC when these were first 'fashionable' there was discussion in Bass Player magazine about how much of any given signal was actually running through the valve and the effect that it had on tone.
 4. Hey Lee. If you're talking one valve (12ax7 / ECC83) in the preamp I have to confess that from experience there is sometimes not a huge amount of difference in the tone between valves. The EBS may be different but I've had 4 valve fronted amps and I bought a whole selection of tubes at one point (sorry they've all gone) to try in the front end and the difference was negligeable! I had H&K, Groove Tubes, Rubies, EH, Mullard etc and even though I tried all of them in all of the different amps over the course of a couple of years they didn't make enough difference for me to justify one over the other. I'm not saying that would be the case in all amps or that valve amps wouldn't be affected to a greater degree by the choice of preamp valve(s) but in the case of a single valve in the front end of a basically solid state amp I didn't notice any massive difference. I could be wrong (step in and correct me techies) but I have a feeling that many of these valve fronted amps actually don't send 100% of the signal through the valve, which could account for the lack of obvious difference
 5.
You got all excited didnt you.... ?
You just never know do you Just having a browse to see what's what and you come across a BIN for a dinky bass cab at a ridiculous price... you've got to have a look
That guy has fooled me several times with those descriptions! Like the new avatar Warwickhunt.
His description detail is fine and I know he's just trying to generate as much attention as possible (heck it dragged me in) but I'm seriously not going to buy a PJ cover from him if I don't already own a PJ cab so it's a bit self-defeating. Yes I may remember him if I ever decide to buy a cover for my cab or I may check out his other items whilst looking at this listing but personally I found it mildly irratating and I'll not buy from him on principle. Saying that I've now alerted a whole bunch of other bassists to his wares... I think my avatars have been a bit disturbing to some of late... best I find something even 'more' disturbing

 7.
Tis most strange indeed.
No disrespect to the 'last' BC owner of the bass but it shouldn't really come as such a shock It was mad cheap on here and TBH even I considered that it would have been worth more on eBay than it sold for on BC. Regardless of whether the BCer bought it and didn't get on with it or bought it to have a blast then turn it round for more than they paid for it, they paid the asking price and parted with their cash... to put it up for sale to the world at large (not just our little community) and get a respectable price could maybe be a salutary lesson to us all! I just hope a Basschatter didn't buy it
 8.
Maybe not. A contract needs "consideration" from both parties to be fulfilled. Steve had done his bit by getting the money to you and is entitled to have the contract fulfilled if possible. In a court, it's quite possible that you would have been ordered to buy another set of JVs and send them to Steve.
Luckily this isn't the case and they both lived happily ever after
 9.
But 'Probably' not quite as rare as a punter with £1,925 to spend with the economy about to go into meltdown.
What meltdown Just as well other European economies are in a better position than ours There'll always be people prepared to pay for the right bass and it's pretty much relative to the present cost of a 70's Fender and I'd hate to imagine how many of them were produced compared to 120-200 of these (depending on which source you believe)!
how much you looking for the pumpkin?
You have a PM
 10. If as you say he's refused to sell it to you in person for the price that he has it advertised for, then I have sneaking suspicion he'll not be finding a quick sale on the forum, regardless of price! I have to admit you seem to be taking it a fair bit calmer than I would...
 11. Just been into SC Newcastle and they have a used Peavey Firebass head (£199), 4x10tvx (£130) and 1x15 (£249). This all falls within your budget and I'm sure they can transport stock between stores easy enough!
 12.
Warwickhunt...50 Warwicks?!?!?!?!
Here's a tip for you if you want to have owned that many... don't have kids and get a day job Bear in mind that I got my first one 20 years ago. Funnily enough my quest for the sound I want is bringing me back to what I had 20 years ago... a Stage I though a solid state amp and 10" speakers. Funny old game bass playing
 13. I've provisionally sold another of my basses so catch this before I start playing it again
 14.
Getting sick of being messed around with my buyer - still waiting for his cash and he's trying to knock me down on price even though I've given him 10 days to get his money together. If someone beats him to get me the cash they can have it. £940 + postage + any payment fees if you want to use paypal. Happy for you to collect and/or use bank transfer. Or around €1200 depending on exchange rate on the day
It's a pi**er when this happens! I hope you get this sorted soon I'm keeping fingers crossed that my European sale of my Pumpkin bass goes smoothly. Hopefully as the guy is a Warwick endorsee and in a signed/Euro-name band then it should be straightforward.
 15. Wax it... Oh is that what that yellow stuff is for I can put my hand on my heart and say that IMHO and experience you do NOT need to wax every week, month or whatever! I tend to give my spare basses a wipe every couple of months or when I change strings (every 2 weeks! phew I wish). You don't even need to go to the trouble of giving it a proper wax if you are doing it every 2 weeks. I use the same cloth all of the time and it is impregnated with wax (best to let the cloth warm up before using it as it can go a bit stiff... fnarr) so I tend to just wipe it over my basses every now and again and every Christmas I give them an annual service; a strip down, wax and fresh battery (quite theraputic) and each bass gets a proper dab of wax at this point. My regular gigging bass gets a bit more attention (ie the string change wipe regime) but it's more out of habit than neccessity. I'm no scientist but TBH the wax is unlikely to evaporate from a bass that isn't being used and if you use your Wrawick regularly you are actually putting oils into the wood from your hands. They 'can' dry out a bit if they never get any form of care but I've received basses that have never been waxed and 'some' of them have been a bit pale coloured and slightly dry to the touch but not to the point that they crack. To give you an idea of how much wax I use, I've had up to 15 Warwicks in my possesion all at one time (and clocking on for having owned near 50) and I've yet to finish a tin of wax that I got 15 years ago, though I have started using my spare tin as the original wax is more brown than yellow To balance that I am aware of Warwick Forum members who go through a tin every couple of months... I've yet to figure out how
 16. Thanks for all the kind words I'm sure various BC members can attest that I'm a very approachable chap; so if you live within reasonable traveling distance and are 'interested' then you can just call in to give this (or any of my basses) a blast with no obligation to hand over dosh! I 'think' I now know what I want (and it may involve stripping lacquer and stain off a certain blue bass) so I'm kind of clearing the decks a bit further. To which end, a fantastic EB/MM Sterling that I wheedled out of Peter may also be available As it stands I have a Dolphin, Orange Pumpkin Stage I, 'Infinette' and possibly the Sterling available should anyone be interested. Cheers one and all
 17. Your chance to own a piece of Warwick history; Warwick have one of these on the wall of their offices, so it must be good. This is the original '91 NT model not the 2001 BO. As I further revise what I want and need I've established I probably don't need 2 of these I have a regular gigging Streamer Corvette (affectionately known as the Infinette by Warwick aficionados) and I have this one... It is pretty much unmarked and has rarely even been played in the house. This actual bass is the bass reviewed in the UK bass guitar magazine 'Bassist' (I will supply the magazine with the bass). I purchased it from The Bass Gallery London. It can be verified by the Birds Eye Maple patternation and the striation of the colouring of the Atimoe Mahogany on the back. I got this about 6mths after I got my first one because I felt I 'had' to get a back-up in case my first one ever died! Well 17 years on and my original one is still going strong A well used example was listed on eBay for 2500 euro (£2005) recently, though I admit it didn't sell. I want 2400 euro or £1925 for my bass. If this is considered expensive by some, consider what a new Infinity bass will cost you and then factor in the rarity factor of this model. I'm not open to negotiation on the price but I will consider trades for an early Streamer Stage I. I'm happy to supply more pics upon request. Cheers
 18. Cheers mate. Not thought of that one I'll give it a blast and I've got the schematic so things are looking up. I know it isn't anything major as it still works fine.
 19.
Well, the NS CR4M has become available again. Anyone interested?
Is the price the same as was?
 20.
my hypothosis is that it is that photo of the 3 boys. Maybe nobody wants to buy warwicks of them?
Ah now anyone viewing this post for the first time will be well confused
 21. Top bloke is Dave! Schematics duly arrived, ta.
 22. I've had a flurry of interest about trades for the Dolphin but nothing has materialised... yet! No more interested parties?
 23. That's right up there with MarkBass for weight but trumps them in the power stakes! As you say, interesting to see a price
 24.
I use one of these. Cheap, and durable. Someone from here told me about them, I think it was Homer, IIRC....
Used one of these for 15 years or so but the edges started to go and they were quite sharp so potential damage to me and the car interior.
An old, padded lap top bag (slightly bigger than a modern one!) The bag's soft, alnd will shove into spare boot space quite readily. A laptop can fit in it, too (if I empty it!)
+1 for my current carry case. Leads all coiled so that they fit around the edge of the case and the centre forms a space for tuner, earplugs, multitool and fuses etc. Like the man says it can be squeezed into a space in the car between cab and flightcase as a wedge to stop things clashing together as the car corners!
 25. Thanks anyway. I knew it was a long shot!
